                                   Introduction

I would like to give my reasons for writing this book. Up till know there has been a limited quantity of books written about perhaps one of the most ridiculous wars ever fought by this country. Not to mention that the whole idea of war is ridiculous, when you think about it. To the victor goes the spoils is usually referable, when speaking about this sort of social engagement.

Well the American people got the spoils, but, not in the sense of a victory. It was the ruination of an American society. The death of fifty-five thousand American lives's uncountless toll of wounded both physical and mental. The Viet Nam war was not a war in the ordinary context of ant other known war. It was ninety percent psychological with about ten percent fighting. It was a war of decent-ion among troops through the use of drugs and a loss of will power and spirit. For some, it was an awakening that no other people could ever experience.

I'M not going into causes or reasons for the war. I'LL let the historians differ that out. I'M going to tell you how life persisted at a typical base camp located in Viet Nam. YET, maybe it was not all that usual. In a lot of ways each area had its own quips and idiosyncrasy's. I spent about ten months in AN KHE     , which is located in the central highlands of Viet Nam. It was a beautiful country, that had a mystery all to its own. YET, the dream and the reality of war shattered to the pure illusion of reality to all.

Author Comment:

Viet NAM auto-bio was written back in 1975. I was more sane till BILLY BOOKSIE came along.
[ The only thing is that people could have learned alot if this book was published back then. ]

Thatis water under the bridge.
