“War”

Over the lost and restless,

Have a thousand souls been lost.

All have died by a pointless cost,

None of the deaths have been painless

I am stuck here in this alien place,

All of my friends are either lost or dead.

I try to hide from the firing above my head,

I trip in fear, but realize it is only my shoe lace.

All around me, bodies lay flat,

Fear overwhelms me as I run past.

Anger builds inside me fast,

As I see a friend spread out like a bat.

Let the war end, I say!

Before my anger goes beyond the top!

They refuse; enough trouble to mop,

But as long as anger is here, the war will stay…

When the anger builds more,
And the tension grows,
Everyone knows,
This is a war

Great poem

I myself am not the war type of guy; if I know a thing about war, it is usually from Medal of Honor of Call of Duty. But anger is something I know about. Thanks for complimenting more.

Wow, this was really powerful. War is such a horrible thing, and it's so completely pointless. As Mark Twain once said "All war must be just the killing of strangers against whom you feel no personal animosity; strangers whom, in other circumstances, you would help if you found them in trouble, and who would help you if you needed it."

I really enjoyed this poem, because it wasn't so much about the actions of war as it was about the emotions of war. Great job.

When I write poetry, I usually write with emotion and events. I dont know anybody in war. None of my family members have ever been in the army, so I got no inspiration. It all comes from my head. When I made this, I think I had just play Medal of Honor or something, but that made me think; how would my character feel in a situation where I am pinned down by Nazi's? How would he feel to see his allies die? It all just came to me and I got this.

Awesome poem. You really know how to express your indignation at the senselessness of war (an indignation I share). You really capture it with, "Let the war end, I say! / Before my anger goes beyond the top! / They refuse..." That's about how it goes.

I just published some poems and stories that deal with similar themes. I'd be thrilled if you'd check them out and let me know what you think.

Rawk on distant brother. War is just a messed up shit-hole that we can't get out of. I really dont think war can solve anything.

So true.It reminds me of the poem I wrote."Our Loved Ones."It also kinda goes with my other two,"The World Today",and "To Change The World."Great job on this.More people should speak up on this.Good job.
