Shelter
Man made screams,
Metallic and eerie,
Echo through the lonely darkness,
Summon me underground once more,
Into the cold,
This darkness, complete,
Light and hope extinguished,
Snuffed out like a single flame.
Outside the battle rages,
Each blow and strike reaches me,
Unlocking more scremas,
Each one hanging in the air.
I sit, here in this chamber,
Breathing so softly,
Listening to the beat without.
For me it searches,
Slinking between buildings,
Destroying them with malice,
Attacking everything in my world,
Letting it all fall into decay.
My thoughts float upwards,
Through the dark, thick air,
Like a fragile bubble,
Just out of reach.
Upon this bubble,
My thoughts blend into one,
Rising higher,
Before bursting,
Before my eyes.
Before my eyes,
Empty faces,
Peer through the gloom
Reflection of my fears,
My lonely companions.
