I am from a military based family, and I found a poem I had written a while ago about a traveling soldier's beloved wife. I understand how hard it is to miss that special someone, mainly as he or she fights for our freedom. I just want to give a big thank you to all of those putting their lives on the line to save ours. Anyone who puts in service is my hero.

As months go by;

It's more time i'm away from you.

Tear stained letters-

Because I just couldn't stop.

I tried to be strong;

But hearing your words-

Even if only on paper..

It makes me weak.

I fall to the ground;

trembling.

I need you;

I miss you.

I can't wait until you're finally home.

I know it's not your fault;

And I know if you could-

You'd be here.

And as I count down the days until you should return;

I pray you'll come back as you left;

Alive.

You're a brave man.

You stand up for what you believe;

and you believe in what you fight for.

You stand under that raised American Flag-

Knowing today may be your last.

Times get hard;

And you watch as blood flies through the open air.

I don't know how you do it;

But I am proud that you do.

Just always remember that I love you.

I lay awake;

Holding your pillow..

Awaiting your arrival;

Even though I know it could be a while.

I sit under the stars;

Wondering if you are too.

And I wish on every ounce of hope;

that my brave soldier-

will return to me again.
