She thought they
Would listen

Or understand,
Or maybe be around

When things got tough,
Or maybe give a hand

Or say a word,
But none did,

None gave a damn
Or gave a hoot,

All locked themselves away
In their private world,

 Became suddenly deaf
And oddly mute.
