Fighting for You

Poetry By: Unperfect
War and military

Just read it--I found myself in the middle of class thinking about war. I drifted off to a new place in my mind. The Vietnam war had inspired me most to write this. Enjoy.

There I go again.

Fighting for the family

and fighting for the friends.

Well, now I’m off to war.

Fighting for the women,

fighting for the children,

and fighting for the people that no longer care.

I’ll gain my battle scars even if I die trying.

I’m off to fight for you.

Representing my country;

striving to make peace in hell.

When the fire strikes me and pierces

through my body like a bullet,

remember that I fought for you

in a battle where you could never pay me back.

When I’m buried 6 feet underground, believe that I

reached the water.

That I’m no longer here,

and that I won’t come back to haunt you.

I’ve found my safe haven.
