Pearly Gates Close

Miscellaneous By: michelo
Westerns

A song about a young gunslingers guilt of his deeds on Earth and the knowledge the hang mans noose is getting closer to his throat, he realises the pearly gates of heaven will not open to him and so denying him a pardon. The young gunslinger sings about the guilt of all the sins of a life spent living by the gun.

Pearly Gates Close
I've been out in the wilds since I was a child
A son born intothis lawless land
Too many sheriffs with badges want to bury me deep intothe ground
To take a life of a young gunslinger with no fair trial can't you see!
Only the downtrodden and beggars pray for my soul
All others want to open the hang mans door to let me kick the air for all I've done wrong
All I hear is those pearly gates close
Forever rejected for never saying no
Living in violence shooting down church doors
No apology to pardon me
I just hear those pearly gates close
Those pearly gates close forever more
These guns I have need not explode
I'm passed out with an empty whisky bottle bidding my time
A young gunslinger running out of lives
Someone wash all this blood from my hands
My conscious cannot take the guilt anymore
There is no hope left for me
So waiting for the hang mans noose is all I am living for
All I hear is those pearly gates close
Forever rejected for never saying no
Living in violence shooting down church doors
No apology to forgive me
I just hear those pearly gates close
Those pearly gates close forever more
