A little country boy born in October 1963
In a place called Lapoint Utah
A boy for saddle bronc rider Clyde and mum Elsie.
Destined for a life riding bulls full of might
His mumhoped he would out grow this rodeo
thing Put an end to all of her frights.
But his love of bull riding would just never ware
HE burned with the desire to succeed.
To make it to the big time
It yearned inside him
like a neverending need.
As success surrounded
him throughtime he
never forgot where it
all started.
Nor did he forget the people
who helped him along the
way.
From his past he never
parted
Never once was he too
busy to talk to a fan
Or offer some bright-eyed
kids tips.
Show him how to strap
his hand in right
Or how to hold on when
he bucks and dips.
He even beat the mighty
" Red Rock"
The best bull in the game
No one could ride this mean one
Until this young cowboy came.
All the crowds in every town
loved to cheer his name
Marvelled at his surperb rides
To his family though he was
just lane.
All of them were left
heartbroken
When they heard what
happened in Cheyenne .
A young man cut down
in his prime
Another like him there
would never be again.
How could this happen
to someone so full of life
Doing the things he loved
so dear.
To lose some so special
to everyone
Nothing could stop the
outpour of tears.
He lives on in our hearts
and souls
Tuff rode on for him even
gave his son his name.
His memory will live
on forever
Still life without him
will never be the same .
To this day he is
terribly missed by his family.... friends
and wife.
A boy called Lane
A champion in the arena
A champion in life.
