oooo!!! this looks fun! and not to mention a BRILLIANT idea pratibha! two thumbs up for this b/c its way original. loving it already. so here i go with some of the topics mentioned above and some of my own ramblings:

favorite color: indigo - its dark, its mysterious, but theres something more to it, like the color is hiding something, and you just have to get to know it better before it shines, kinda like a person.

color that describes me: yellow!!! or pink. but mostly yellow. pink is more girly... i do have those moods but yellow, in my opinion is a BRIGHT and happy color, full of and bursting with life - like the sunshine!

the combination of silver and blue makes me think more of a romantic setting - like on a beach beneath twilight.

color i'm feeling today: light blue - a relaxed, down to earth, easy going mood but of course with a dash of yellow b/c i'm rather happy today and all smiles :)

hahahahaha well, i think i'm done rambling about colors now. lol. but this was fun!

Oh Boy, you have no idea what this is doing to me. i am so drawn to color, haha I am getting overly stimulated now, ok I better slow down (giggles) hmmmm, yes Alice also talked about silver and this is one you don't see too often. Many times I see a color that a person needs and silver at times shows up. hehe Pratibha for you I see green, yes I know you LOVE your Orange but, green is the color I get when I think of you. ^_^ so ok, haha I am pretty sure it was that yellow taht got me all wound up there. something about it, you know it's like butterflys to me HA! I have always been in love with any shades of blue and brown. Maybe because, blue reminds of the sky and the ocean. I always like staring up the blue sky with the presence of the cirrus clouds. It feels so soothing and comforting. While the sea seems to transport me to wherever I wanna be taken to. It gives me freedom to delve beyond and see the real person within me. My poem "Another Day Like This" is inspired by those emotions that these two nature's treasures brought out in me. And, brown because it makes me think of chocolates and cakes and cookies. I love sweets.

I haven't really analyzed that those colors are associated with those things. I haven't recognized the existence of the connection not until Pratibha encouraged me to say more, to go deeper to the emotions that go with those colors.

Thanks Pratibha! That was on the spur of the moment. You have me bared. :-)

Well, I always go through phases where I'm drawn to different colors. Right now its ORANGE. I'm wildly passionate about it right now. It reminds me of mango sorbet chilling your tongue and sliding deliciously down your throat. It reminds me of the sweet citrusy smell of orange and the lotion I love because my skin smells like the fruit. It reminds me of sunny days and fun, carnival rides, and soft flowers swaying in the warm breeze while a lover kisses the side of your neck. I love orange. - I think I'll go peel one right now!

My favorite colors are black, purple, dark blue and crimson red. I love those colors. :] I'm not really into bright colors. Bright colors scare me,lol. Not really, but I try to stay far from them. I just love black,purple, dark blue and red well..just because they are dark colors and I like dark. I feel most comfortable in the dark and I love the moon. Night time is my favorite. I'm able to write better at night. Idky why. lol

Your colour challenge reminded me of something my mother wrote. (I will share it below) Thank you Pratibha.
So the colour challenge reminds me of a bright, gentle sunny woman with soft flowing red hair, english fair skin and the colours that surround her always in my mind are gentle and graceful and delicate. Beautiful! Green also comes to mind because she knew that redheads are always stunning in greens and blues. Her wedding outfit was green velvet.
Her is a poem written by my late mother:

RAINBOW TREASURES
They say each rainbow holds a pot of gold
My treasure is the memories its colours hold

Red suited Santas laughing and hearty
Happy surprises of our Ruby Wedding party

Fragrant orange blossoms when soft winds blow
Hot pumpkin scones, recipe by Flo

Yellow bright searchlights when bombers came
As we sheltered below by pale candle flame

Green dresses worn by my daughters to school
Emerald eyed cats languid and cool

well first of all i want to applaud you for starting this article it is most original and it just has a happiness to it to answer some of your querries
my favorite color is Green i love green many shades of green but especially the darker tones of green like the emerald greeen oooohhhh pretty :) green makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside it makes me smile another favorite color of mine is purple it reminds me of spriritually and royalty i feel peace when i think the color purple when i think of blue i think of calm and serenity yello makes me think of happy sunshine and all things summer :) when i think of red i think of love and passion i also think of someone who is very special to me when i think of your beloved orange i think of my beautiful granddaughter Caydencd :) she has dark hair and medium toned skin and she is absolutly beautiful in orange so now when i see orange i think of her thusly making me feel love :) yeah orange :) when i think of pink i think all things girly to me pink says girls i love black because it goes with everything no matter what i love white as white makes me think of all things pure i love the color brown for some reason it makes me think of little puppy dogs and also it is a earthy color and who doesnt love our earth :) ooohhh i could go on forever about colors i love colors i most often dress myself in browns, greens, blues and blacks i think those colors match my skin tone and hair color best i feel my most confident when i wear any combination of those four colors today the color i feel most is blue as i have felt a nice peaceful calm all day today :) i dont think i really have a color i dislike i love them all :) and now i stop this crazy rant im on and stand to appluad you once more thank you for starting such an awesome thread for us all to share on and also in an odd kinda way those of us who take the time to read all the comments i think we learn at least a little something new or differnt about each other here :)

Well, my favorite color is purple, and it has been for a while. I like it because it's pretty, and it can be happy and it can be sad, depending on the shade. It's just a really cool color that can sort of fit in anywhere.

Today's color is Brown. Because I sort of think of it as a happy and earthy color and kind of makes you feel safe. Also, because my friend randomly gave me a sweater that was brown...

I personally almost always think of things in colors and scents. Ghiradelli Girl, for example, her colors are brown and orange (because of the same reason today was brown and also orange because orange and brown together are sort of exotic and interesting and just sort of her.) and her sent is those flattned pretzels with everything on them, because I remember eating them with her while she wrote her story. Another friend is Mahogany and cinnamon because he's really nice to everyone but also really kind of mysterious.

Well, that's what I have to say on colors...

I luvvv colors...

once when i was depressed, anything that is black was my fav. it kinda reflected my mood, and the fact that i would like to handle my situation alone without causing anyone troubles.

now, i'm the colorful type. i love blue, green, orange, pink, yellow, anything. The one i love the most is red, crimson blood red together with black *whoa* these two colors when brought together are so unique, enigmatic, beautiful... (almost vampiric heheh...)

but green is also my fav. the color reminded me of nature, and i enjoyed green around me. it can calm me, and make me forget about stressful things...

yellow is vibrant. love the joy it brings. besides, yellow is majestic to me. it brings about certain authority in a soft kind of way.

blue reminded me of the sky, the sea, the breeze(though breeze don't have colors), it's cold and really comforting seeing my country is very humid...

and other colors like purple is very elegant. and i dreamt of becoming an elegant woman! lol!!!

Colors, colors, colors . . . If I had to pick just one it would be blue in all its shades. Blue reminds me of the sea off of Bar Harbor, Maine. Blue reminds me of a lightning flash. Blue suggests clarity to me. And most of all blue means inspiration. I love things that come out of the blue. :)

honestly, I think this is a very SMART IDEA to have an opportunity of FLOODING COMMENTS because its like an OPEN FORUM... i choose MULTI-COLORED, because i'm a bit of a RANDOM... I kinda CAMOUFLAGE, but still... I'm myself... sometimes I'm bright, sometimes , I'm not... somethimes I think green, sometimes I'm blue... sometimes they say my cheeks and lips kinda look having blush on and lipstick even thou I DON'T HAVE MAKE-UP ON (RED)

Wow. Just wow. Very bright. At 1130 in the PM it's even more bright. Heh. It's good. My favorite colour is black. I know people say it's a base and blah, blah, blah. I don't care though. I really like the colour black. It just symbolizes everything I think. At least for me it does.

I'll quote a line from a Smiths song: "I wear black on the outside cause' black it what I feel on the inside."

I'm not overly depressed and bummed 24/7, I mean it does happen a lot but I just like the colour. I look good in it. Haha.

My unquestionable favorite color in the entire universe is... deep yellow! For me, it represents the warmth of sunshine, the brightness and glow of the sun itself and the beauty of sunflower fields in full bloom. *((why even the main character in one of my short stories is called Sunshine!!))*

Yay! Yay! Yay! A COLOR PARTY !!!

Well, I like so many colors that it is difficult to call any of them my favourite. Different colors are my favourites in different contexts - you know what I mean - I might like a color for clothes but not for my car or for the walls of my house, and so on...

I like WHITE because it is a blend of all colors. It represents freshness and clean feeling for me, and all the times when I feel sporty, fit and freshly bathed.

For daily wear, of course, I like sober colors. For evening wear I like all deep, dark colors in satiny hues - the burgundys, the emerald greens, the ruby reds, sometimes electric blues, and occasionally, when I'm trying to appear a bit classy (not my usual style!), I wear silver grey.

If for a car, it has to be BLACK.

If I had to name a color as favourite in an abstract way, I would probably name it MIDNIGHT BLUE. It reminds me of the night sky, cool, deep, peaceful. It embellishes my solitude, reminding me of starlight and gentle glimmers of love and smile. It gives me a sense of sharing a vast, eternal cosmic mystery with the universe.

The only colors I don't like are the ones which are too gaudy or fluorescent, because they sting my mind.

Which is the color of my mood today! It changes from moment to moment, so too difficult to say......

This is a GREAT POEM!! And as for me...my favorite color is are blue because it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside and each time i see it blue reminds me of the sky and comfurts me. I also like brown because my eyes are and for some strange reason i've had a long string of brown furred pets. I like white cause it's the color of peace and innocence and i also LOVE gold becuase it's the color of a neckless that my boy friend gave me...

I've also got tons more and these are just a few:
green, amber, red, black, purple, pink, tan, marigold, gray, silver, chartruse (if that how its spelled), that blue green color of the ocean, the bright oranges, reds,and greens of the birds of paradise, the dense green of tropical plants, the grayishbrown of haiti's soil, the bluish white of mountain tops, rust's red, the shimmmering blue of pools, and hundreds of others.

Wow, you've got a great conversation going on here! And thank you for the dedication. I had no idea I had inspired you so much! As I said, I really like all color, so it is hard for me to choose. If I had to say though, I tend toward earthy or jewel-tone colors. When I wear clothes, it will usually be dark blue, dark green, and brown. I like the earth, I like nature. I am drawn to them. but right now my garden is completely purple (and green of course) but I planned it that way. He he. The house is yellow and that's what came to me to offset that. Purple irises, violets, lavender, and flox have taken over! But earlier in the year all my tulips were out and it was a sea of pastels. I definitely see you as an orange though! My mom's favorite is purple. But my kitchen is yellow because I wanted my kitchen to be bright and happy and kitchen's always remind me of mornings for some reason. But I also have a passion for my office to be red. Dark ruby red. Maybe it is stimulating? If I had to pin it down though, I would say a mid-grade royal blue; I think it's cause I grew up on the ocean. don't know. I LOVED this article and all the comments left by my fellow Booksie writers. It really made me think about the colors I love and the reasons why I feel drawn to them. So I feel I must contribute something of my own:

Red has always been my favorite color because I love its energy, vibrance, and passion. I feel like red is a color with movement and vitality, and looking at it makes me feel awakened and alive. (Plus, since I have blonde hair and light skin, it looks good on me lol).

Lately I've been drawn to the color yellow. I think it's because I'm completely happy for the first time in a very long time, and I think for me yellow symbolizes my newfound happiness and my willingness to accept positivity in my life. I haven't always been open to positivity and I have to work hard for it because negativity is a much easier emotion for me.

I also love the color blue because the 3 people I love most in the world have blue eyes: my mom, my brother, and my boyfriend. I think I associate the color blue with love: both my love for them and their love for me, which shows in their eyes.

Keep writing these beautiful, thought-provoking articles, Pratibha. I love reading and responding to them!!

I try to love all colors; I try not to discriminate. Because most colors are lovely when blended with or placed next to others. My reflex is to say I don't like yellow, yet I love yellow walls in sunny rooms and playful daffodils wakening me from my winter blahs. I'd say I don't like orange, though I can admire my day lilies for long stretches and orange dreamsicles remind me of Saturdays rollerskating as a kid. My family thinks my favorite color is purple because it once was what I'd proudly proclaim - when I was a child. Now I get every trinket imaginable in purple for gifts, not because I may find them useful, but because they are purple.

Today I am a tranquil blue green like the color of tropical shallows. On the way home, fighting traffic, I could be a sunburst of yellows and reds mixing with my frustration to a furious orange until I turn off onto my road and I can see my home. Then I mellow to a purplish magenta orange like the sunset after a stormy day, ready to hug my husband and settle into our evening. And of course, the color of the night depends on our collective mood, my husband and I blending our palettes, softening the harsh tones of a day at work to the comfort and spontaneity and passion of our love and life together.

I love blue:). Blue the color of the sky, the color of the ocean-- blue is like my home. It's the color of my dad's eyes-- the color that makes me feel cheerful-- bubbly-- and tranquil. I enjoy fall colors: deep hues of brown, grey, dark blues, greens, rust, ....
My favorite color is blue. Deep navy blue. It just makes me feel comfy, like re-reading a good book on the couch on a rainy day.

I don't care for bright colors much, such as orange and yellows and some reds. It hurts my eyes, and makes me squint.

I wear lots of grays and blacks. Not because I'm depressed or mourning, or anything. It's just the color of the majority of my wardrobe.

My favorite is Red, the color of passion and courage (and the best candy flavors are red too, haha). My second fave would probably have to be green for it's symbolism of life and vitality. Fun fact: the human eye is most attentive to greens (we notice a few more green shades than other colors). Cool huh?

Well if you ask my family they would all say BLUE!

I'm obsessed with blue, from jewlery, to flowers. But not clothes, I'd rather have neutral colored colors, I'd rather blend in than stand out xD.

I love many colours...because colours give me the joys of life..but, the colour that i love most is Red,Black and white. I love red because the colour is so powerful n energizing...I love black because it's a sliming colour...hahahhaaahhaaaa...n I love white because it's a blank colour and i can add any colour when i need it...

Colors? Wow, never really thought about it but you're right haha. I'm like NocturnalMuse when i say that i like the darker colors and nighttime. It's peaceful and quiet... It's just wonderful. But i do love the color blue (all shades)and red. Red and black for some reason let my mind wander to love and romance =]

Wow, this was a beautifully done article.

Let's see, my favorite color... hmm... I don't really have one. I have three.

Ever since I saw a blue jay outside my window, I fell in love with black, white and blue. I look good in black, and it's always easy for me to match things up with it, so most of my wardrobe is black.

Blue has always struck me as such a versitile color, you know? It can represent sereneness, pureness, sadness, but then again a lot of colors can have diffrent meanings or impressions depending on what shade they are and the mood of the person viewing them.

I'm a big fan of colors period. I like them all except for two. Pea green (which always makes me think of vomit -.-) and gold. I absolutely loath gold. I never wear gold jewlery if I can help it. Something about the color just irritates me beyond reason. I don't know why, I used to have no problem with it, but then one day I became anti-gold.

i loved this it was so colorful XD it made my eyes tickle haha. my favorite color is blue because it reminds me of the sky which is always there and is always constant. i move so much that i needed something contstant. it also associates with the mood i always seem to be in. but when im not sad and moody i like the color yellow. its so bright and cheerful. plus it reminds me of lemons and the face my baby sister makes when she eats them XD

When I was a little girl growing up and in my teen years, my favorite color was yellow. It was sunny and bright, but now that I am older I tend more towards blues and greens. I think my absolute favorite color is teal. I am drawn to that color. It is soothing to me. I have a blue female parakeet and a male green and yellow parakeet. Yesterday my husband pointed out 5 lovely green Quaker parrots feeding in our grass. I said. OOh I want one but then decided I would have no place to put one so I changed my mind. They were so beautful feeding amongst the grasses. I guess they were eating bugs. They were going to town. It was garbage pickup day so maybe they were eating maggots. Yuckkkkk.

My favorite color is green all the way! I love deep green and darker colors like dark blue, dark purple, black but dark green is my favorite. I'm not really sure what strikes me about that color. I'm a fan of darker colors, striking colors with good quality. Of course, when I was little, my favorite color was pink and then blue. I must be honest, for some reason, one color I clash with is yellow. I've never said that my favorite color is yellow. I don't despise the color, and I can stand it but is always reminds me of the summertime and bees. Even though I was born in June (the twenty-third! YAY!) I can't stand the summertime. It's waaay too hot. I'm am a winter girl all the way!

sorry if i took so long!! but anyways, here goes..

my favourite colours are green and blue because i like how green is healthy for the eyes (lol yes that is one reason why i like green) and blue reminds me of the vast sky and also the the vast oceans, both bigger and awe-inspiring, in my opinion.. i am a nature0lover and i've always been attracted to the colours blue and green because they are easily found all around me. even though sometimes the colour blue does make me sad, but that just depends on the mood i'm in.

shades of gold, orange and red reminds me of my childhood most of the time, for reasons i don't even know..

i personally adore pink, since to me, to me it signifies happiness or a carefree feeling in life.

uhm i love white and black because of white reminds me of clouds and black reminds me of the night: mysterious and alluring.

I like this...my favourite colours include black, hot pink, blood red, burgundy, gold, and silver. I love to wear black and red, or pink and black 2gether. to me colours have meaning like red is romantic, daring, sexy; black is mystical, sexy, and respectable, and mature. Pink is Feminine, beautiful, loud, and endearing. Green is full of envy, somesay, but I don't see it that way; it's natural, and physical, and attractive and abundant. Orange is always Happy...Purple is one of those colours that I love to love and hate to hate, like a moodswing. burgundy is royalty, blue is peaceful and yellow is cheery-a bit too cheery for me sometimes...

Haha. I've been seeing this on here for a while, but I haven't had time to look at it until now.

Well, I have to say my favorite color would definetely have to be GREEN. Green is the color Life, and Life stands for everything that matters to me. I know that may be a strange reason to like a color, but it's true, I love nature.

Most people disregard the color, just because they get bored of seeing it everyday. Green, it's everywhere so when you see it, nothing happens, it's just there. If they were to see a color like red or yellow, that's different. People react differently to them. Blue is an exception however, because of the many different tones. Yes, blue is everywhere too, but it has so much more variation.

Anyway, Green is important to ME because it represents what we see everyday, but we never really take the time to look at, I mean closely. Green is not just a color, it's a symbol of all the things on earth that we take for granted, like the sky, an bird, trees, air, the cat that always sneaks around in your backyard at 2 o'clock in the morning. IT IS Life!

My favorite color is blue. This is because I look to the sky for so many answers to life and I find comfort lost in that sky blue, and then blue is associated with so many different things in life, it represents music, water, and sometimes even wind, and I'm just so drawn to it's many shades. I think blue is just so beautiful!

^_^ ok, sorry I forgot to splash the turquiose and....oh-no I forgot the other color. well, I do have some yellow-gold OH I love yellow gold, and along side the yellow gold or right below it are soft tranlucent baby blue embers sparkling clean.

hehe, misty baby blue steam penetrates up into the bright yellow gold light and then splashes down on all of us. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ^_^

I love this idea! To be honest, I never really thought about why I like certain colors..but I'm going to try my best here! :) My favorite color's purple..I think it might be because when I was a little girl, whenever someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I'd say "A gardener and a princess!" I know purple's often associated with royalty, so maybe that plays a part in it? And then they'd say, "What's your favorite flower, since you want to be a gardener?" And I always answer, "The purple flowers!" (I was talking about Irises, but I could never remember their name, so I referred to them as "the purple flowers" lol. :)
