Chapter Eight:
I woke up and smiled at what I saw was on the foot of the king-sized bed.
Tyler Gibson, smiling, looking handsome beyond imagination, looking at me…
“Up for a meal already?” he asked.
Oh, that beautiful voice.
I smiled. “Yes, thank you, but I want to go to my room first.”
“Alright.”
He took my hand, and together, we headed to my room.
When the door flung open , I had no trouble seeing who was there.
“Jazz?” I asked.
She turned around to face me. “Oh, there you are, Ariana! I’ve heard! I was worried so I came to check on you!”
I smiled as I hugged her. “That’s very sweet of you. Come and grab a bite with Tyler and I .”
It was the first time I noticed Tyler. He was fuming, his eyes angrily on Jazz.
“Is there something wrong?” I asked. Obviously, there was . Jazz was red, too. She was angry also, her eyes turning to slits.
“Chill, guys. What’s wrong?” I asked.
Jazz broke away from Tyler’s gaze and looked at me. “No, thank you, Ri. Take care of yourself and watch your back. Don’t trust this traitor too much; you might regret it.” At this, she swept past us and went downstairs without another word.
I remained frozen there at the door. “What was that about?” I asked Tyler.
He shrugged. “You should not trust that Jasmine girl. She’s sneaky. Believe me, Ariana, she’s too dangerous.”
Jazz? Dangerous?
“Believe me. I saved you.”
I looked into his earnest eyes. “Jazz is my friend, too.”
He simply shook his head and repeated what he said. “Believe me. I saved you.”
I was about to say something, but he kissed my cheek, slowly going nearer to my lips until he finally found mine. I just froze.
Caesar came to the rescue. “There you are, Ri.” , came his voice as he went towards us. Tyler broke away quickly and regained his composure in front of Caesar. I looked around to see Caesar with an unknowing expression and sighed in relief. Good, he didn’t see. Ramon was right behind him, and so was Allie.
“We were waiting for you. We haven’t had lunch together for ages. Let’s go!” Allie said, and then she took my hand and together, we went downstairs.
We all took a seat at the long table, and I smiled, Jazz forgotten. Looking at all the people around me made me feel that nothing could possibly harm me…Nothing.
