Chapter Nine:
How wrong I was. That night, I fell asleep soundly.
It was one o’clock am when I thought woke up. That sometimes happened to me. For some reason, I just woke up in the middle of the night and went back to sleep.
Not tonight, though…
I woke up and I saw a note at the foot of my bed, the place where I always saw Tyler.

Sweetheart,
I was taken; please accept that fact. The war needs sacrifices. You’ll be given another guard in exchange for me. You’ll be safe. Please be happy. That’s all that matters to me. Don’t bother trying to save me or doing anything stupid because you won’t be able to save me, anyway. By the time you get this and realize what I’m talking about, I’d have been dead already. I have seen to that before now. Just be happy and safe. The Atsileas are strong…don’t hurt yourself. I love you forever, until my last breath. This is what I want. This is fate. This is one of my greatest honorable deeds---dying for my fellow people. Ariana, you have made me smile and become happy…You have shown me what life really means…You have given me joy and purpose. Remember what I told you at the dance? It’ll explain this. There is a threat to your life and I’m going to end it. I love you. I love you. I love you.
                                                                    ---Tyler---

love
