"So ... You managed to pull it off huh?"

She was silent for some time, then slowly began opening her eyes to look at the man who had spoken. She grimaced at the burning sensation that were her eyes' way of berating her for exposing them to more light than they'd seen in a long, long time.

She blink away the tears and waited till the blurry matter in front of her took the form of a thin, bespectacled, blond man. He was dressed in the customary warm green scrubs of Mercy Grace Hospital, and was looking down at her with a smile on a faced etched with worry he simply could not hide.

She smiled wanly at him.
He lifted an eyebrow, communicating that he would require an answer more in the verbal category for him to be satisfied.

"Harry, could you.. Umm.. I- I'll tell you the entire heart-stopping saga in a moment, but first.. I can't talk to you at this angle, it's making me nauseous."

It was true,

so yeah.. A part of me was just trying to stall and collect my thoughts.. But also, it was damn irritating trying to crane my neck backwards , and even more so, trying to speak to an upside down face.

She gasped when she found herself lifted into his, surprisingly strong, arms.

"H-Harry! I meant.. For you to pull out the drawer completely so I could get down!"

He didn't even bother responding to her high-pitched, breathless reproach.  Just looked down his straight nose at her with a slight scowl on his chiselled face.

she sulked quietly till they arrived at a long make-shift 'bed' in the centre of the spacious room.

"This is where I will be performing your autopsy, to discern the cause of death... unless of course you just wanna go right ahead and tell me."

He paused, smiling mischievously, and waving a scalpel mock-threateningly in a gloved hand.

She glared at him in irritation, but before long, the grin She'd been suppressing broke through and she felt the skin  and muscle around her mouth alarmingly asking why they were being pulled toward her ears in such a strange fashion as this!

She felt tears start to chase themselves down her thin face, a strangled laugh-sob sound echoed off the walls.

It seemed it was finally sinking in to her broken mind that the freedom she had grabbled onto with both hands, and clung to for dear life, was still in her grasp... And planned on remaining there.

"H-Harry.. H- .. I'm free Harry!"

He perched on the side of the small 'bed' where he'd placed her and hugged her to himself, making shushing noises into her soft hair, she shivered from the feel of his breath on her scalp and burrowed closer.

"Ow!.. "

He pulled back in alarm, at the sound of her small cry. She looked at him sadly,

"Sorry.."

"Baka, you don't have to apologize for injuries"

She elbowed his ribs weakly.

"Don't call me an idiot."

He smiled indulgingly, and used a long finger to smooth out the frown that pulled her thin, well-shaped brows close in annoyance.

His hand moved to stroke her hair, and she nuzzled into the caress. This feeling of safety and comfort, was so far away it almost seemed alien to her.

"Arigato"

He looked up in surprise.

"Teme.. You don't have to say thank you either... And why are you speaking Japanese."

She shrugged. It had become second nature to utter such little phrases in that language..  He had preferred it that way.

Again, she was ousted from the little world of contemplation in her head when she felt herself being cradled into his solid chest as she was lifted off the 'bed'.

she opened her mouth, but he cut her off.. Sensing the predictable question she was about to voice.

"I booked a private room upstairs for you, a few hours before you came."

He saw the look of fear that quickly flitted across her eyes.

"Don't worry, I covered all the bases.. I spoke to .. " He swallowed, she could see a vein beating in his temple. "Him..  before he left and told him I would sign that the 'Jane Doe' in question died from an overdose of heroin... Once he confirmed nothing could be traced back to him... He lost interest..."

He paused again, and she could see he was fighting to conceal his rage.

"And I gave you a locked private room, with only Grace and Clara, and myself of course, allowed entry.
There's nothing to worry about.. I promise you."

She released the breath she'd been unconsciously holding , smiled and curled closer to him.
He planted a small kiss on her head as her eyes began to drift shut.
