“Is there something to do on this ship,” Dienna asked. “Or are we going to be bored like crazy until we dock?”
Twilight laughed. “I think I can find something that will amuse you.”
The best that Twilight had to offer was cleaning the ship. So, everyone decided to go to Corazon’s room to take turns on the training module instead. It turned out that you could see what the person playing the game could see, if you used a small screen that was also part of the kit. Dienna had dumped it into the box before Corazon had put everything else away. That was why she hadn’t noticed it before.
Just when everyone was getting bored with the game, Twilight used the intercom to tell them that they were about to dock at the Hannah Bay Spaceport. After putting the training module away, all five girls raced to the evaporator. After beaming up to the main control room, they all took a seat and buckled up.
After a few bumpy minutes, they had successfully docked. The five girls couldn’t wait to get down and see the port.
“Twilight Wisher!” A man who was about Twilight’s age ran up and hugged Twilight. “How are you, comrade?”
“Just fine, Steven!” Twilight gasped under the other man’s tight grasp. “And how are you?”
“Perfect, now that you’ve come to visit!” Steven replied. “Oh, I see you have friends. Say, how’s Rachel? Have you two, uh…”
“Yes, we’re married.” Twilight replied.
“No, I mean, uh, the other one.” Steven replied. He glanced at the girls and cleared his throat. “Kids?”
“Oh, yeah.” Twilight said. “One. It’s a girl. She’s three this year.”
“Wonderful!” Steven was outwardly happy at this event. “It certainly took you long enough!”
“Yeah, well, I’ve been busy the past several decades.” Twilight replied.
“Yeah, I remember.” Steven shook his head. “Boy, was that an adventure, or what?”
“Well, it’s worth comparing to what I’ve gotten myself into now.” Twilight said.
“Still fighting the Bandaa?” Steven asked.
“Yeah, only now it’s worse.” Twilight was grave. “Those girls and the staff and a few pilots are all that’s left.”
“Ouch.” Steven winced. “Why don’t you just stay here and forget all that? You need a break!”
“I can’t leave them.” Twilight said. “Besides, my wife and kid are there.”
“I never could tell what you saw in them.” Steven muttered.
“Hey,” Twilight snapped. “Just because you hated the general doesn’t mean that all of them are as bad as him.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” Steven waved it off. “So, if you’re not here for a visit, why are you here?”
“I need repairs.” Twilight replied. “We had a narrow escape from Bandaa yesterday. It’s thanks to these girls that we escaped at all.” He grinned.
“Well, if I have you to thank for my brother’s life, then allow my to express it!” Steven turned around. “Bernard!” He bellowed. “Bernard, I’ve got a job for you!” A three-foot-tall, cylindrical drone wheeled up to the group. “Bernard, I want you to show these young ladies into town. Take them to a good restaurant for lunch and help them pick up some new supplies. Pay everything in my name.”
“Yes, sir.” The robot said. “Come with me.” The five girls followed the robot to the back of the loading dock.
“So, tell me all about your recent adventures, and I’ll fill you in on my own!” Steven was saying to Twilight as the girls left.
“Do you think they were really brothers?” Dienna asked.
“Yes.” Bernard replied. “Steven is three years younger than Twilight.”
“So,” Corazon said. “Where are we going for lunch? I’m starved.”
“Anywhere you like.” Bernard replied. “There is a wide selection. Come.”
Then the door that was the size of a garage door lifted and the five girls had their first view of the inside of a Spaceport. The first thing they noticed was how bright it was inside. It looked like it was as bright as day on Earth. The second thing they noticed was all the different varieties of aliens that were wandering around. The third thing they noticed was how Earth-like the whole thing was. There were plants everywhere and everyone was either walking, or riding around in hovering cars. The roof and sides of the port were clear glass so the girls could look out and see the stars. It was strange to be standing in such an Earth-like atmosphere and look up during what would be midday and see the stars of the night.
“What kind of light are you using?” Felicia asked.
“An x-24000 to stimulate a normal sized star.” Bernard replied in his monotone voice.
“Where is everyone from?” Giselle asked.
“All over the universe,” Bernard replied.
“Cool.” Dienna said.
“Can we eat now?” Tia asked.
Soon the five girls and one robot were walking and rolling down a street that was lined on both sides by food shops. Not one of them looked like the fast food stores back on Earth, or like the diners, or any other restaurant any of them had ever seen.
“This one is Steven’s favorite.” Bernard said as he rolled into a large restaurant that had strange symbols above the door. “It has the closest things to what you are used to on Earth.”
“Ah, Bernard!” A waiter exclaimed as he walked over to the robot. “What can I do for you?”
“I have been asked to give these girls a good meal and then take them to buy supplies for their journey.” Bernard replied.
“Well, are you five from Earth?” The waiter asked. When the five girls said that they were, the waiter said, “So Steve and I are not the only ones! Who are you traveling with?”
“Twilight Wisher.” Tia said.
“Twilight’s here?” The waiter exclaimed. “Well, any friend of Twilight’s is a friend of mine! Come, right this way.” He led them over to a large, circular table.
“How is it that everyone seems to know Twilight?” Dienna asked impatiently.
