“I think it means trouble.” Twilight replied. “Dienna had a similar dream. I had to prod her to get it out of her, though.”
“You want to get Tyler and Steven?” Jerry asked.
“Not yet.” Twilight answered. “It seems that they will be dragged into it eventually.”
“Then you don’t think there’s a way to avoid it?”
“Not exactly. There is a way to avoid it, but I don’t think that would be very wise.”
“For one thing, we’d be leaving Steve and Tyler in danger, and for another,” Twilight paused a moment while thinking of how to phrase his next thought. “It’s not our turn to be the heroes.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that the last time that we came up against Heranna and Racule, it was meant for us to defeat them. This time, I think it’s the girls’ turn.”
“How so?”
“Corazon had a dream in which she and the other four defeated the two. I don’t know how permanent it will be, but I do know that they were defeated. It’s their turn, so we should let things play out to their advantage.”
“How is getting captured by the Bandaa ‘to their advantage’?”
“I’ve got that taken care of.” Twilight sounded a little more smug than necessary.
“You’ve been planning that from the start, haven’t you?”
“Not exactly. At first, I was just going to get someone to help and take them back to Drenk. But, with that grand escape, I knew I’d only be buying time before the Bandaa caught up to us. So, of course, I needed a back up. Look, I’ve got connections in that prison and I know how we can get the girls and Ray out of there if the need comes.”
“What about Matt?”
“It sounds like they’ve already got him.”
There was a pause.
“That worries me.” Jerry put in.
“It should.” Twilight said. “There are too many possibilities for us not to be worried.”
There was another pause.
“So do we tell anyone?” Jerry asked.
“Not yet.” Twilight replied. “Let’s wait for the enemy to show up. Then we’ll put our knowledge into action.”
“How are we going to know when that is?”
“Dienna and Ray will probably spot them today. It was in both dreams.”
“How are we going to get caught?”
“That’s one of those possibilities that worries me the most.”
“I don’t even want to think…” Jerry’s voice trailed into thought.
“You better get your wife and other kid ready to leave.” Twilight quickly changed the subject. “It sounds like you’re coming with us.”
“So are Tyler and Steve. I think I’ll stop by Tyler’s shop as soon as possible. I just hope everyone lives through this.”
Then Jerry left and Ray sneaked away. He found Dienna in Corazon’s room, playing the training module. Giselle, Tia and Felicia were still eating breakfast.
“That was too easy, Corazon.” Dienna said when the round was over.
“Hey!” Ray interrupted. “What’s up?”
“Oh, hi Ray.” Corazon said. “I’m trying to give Dienna some practice.”
“I think she’s gonna need it.” Ray seriously said.
“What was that supposed to mean?” Dienna demanded as she took off the helmet.
Then Ray told the two of them all about his dream and the conversation that he had overheard. Then Dienna and Corazon told him about their dreams.
“So what now?” Corazon asked.
“I guess we follow through.” Dienna replied.
“Wait a minute.” Ray said. “We know what’s going to happen, right? So why don’t we just pack up and leave?”
“It’s like what Twilight said.” Corazon replied. “We’d be leaving Steven and Tyler at the mercy of the Bandaa. And we might never find out about Matt.”
“Or why we were the ones who just happened to get beamed aboard this dumb ship and sent on this stupid adventure.” Dienna said.
“That’s an oxy-moron.” Corazon put in. “Stupid and adventure don’t go together.”
“So says you.” Dienna scowled.
“Why don’t we get Steve and Tyler and leave with them?” Ray asked.
“That still leaves Matt.” Corazon said.
“And a really big mess.” Dienna replied. “Even if we tried that, I still think that the Bandaa would catch us somehow.”
“She’s probably right.” Corazon agreed.
“Okay.” Ray sighed. “Let’s go play ‘scout’, then.”
“I’ll ask Steven to keep us updated on any Bandaa ships that enter the port.” Corazon said as she stood up.
That afternoon, it happened just like in the dreams. Dienna and Ray spotted the Bandaa. They hurried over to Tyler’s restaurant to warn him, and found Jerry there.
“Dad!” Ray urgently said, “They’re here!”
“You’re sure?”
“Who?” Tyler asked. “Who’s here?”
“The Bandaa.” Dienna replied. “We saw them.”
“The Bandaa?” Tyler was horrified. “How? I thought we destroyed them!”
“Apparently, we only defeated them.” Jerry said. “Come on, Tyler. We’ve got to get out of here, now.”
“If you do, they’ll find you for sure.” Jerry gravely answered. “If you come with us, you have hope of an escape.”
With a little more coaxing, Tyler finally agreed to go with them and leave the port. Corazon met them halfway to the ships.
“Steve just said he saw a Bandaa ship pull in.” She was out of breath.
“We’ve already seen the warriors.” Dienna informed her.
“Did you tell Twilight?” Jerry asked.
“Yes.” Corazon replied. “He’s got the others, including your family,” She indicated Jerry. “Ready to leave.”
“Great. Tyler, you come with me.” Jerry started heading for Twilight’s ship.
