Suddenly, loud, whooshing noises came from overhead. A lot of lights were blinking, and the Principle and other teachers began rushing the kids inside the school.
“Come on, Corazon!” Giselle pulled at her arm. “We have to go inside!”
“No, wait!” Corazon said. “I think it’s…”
“You don’t seriously think it’s those aliens, do you?” Dienna interrupted.
“I have to find out.” Corazon replied.
“Corazon, you’re crazy!” Tia blurted.
“How long did it take you to figure that out?” Dienna asked in her usually sarcastic manner.
“Come on, Corazon.” Felicia said. “Let’s go.”
“I not leaving until I know what’s coming.” Corazon stated firmly.
“If we’re going to stay,” Tia said, “We may as well keep out of trouble.” She pointed to Principle Newman, who was coming their way, but hadn’t seen them yet.
“What do you mean ‘we’?” Dienna asked.
“Come on!” Tia managed to shove everyone behind a set of bushes.
They hid there until Mr. Newman had passed by. It was incredibly windy by then. A moment later, several beings appeared before the eyes of the five friends. They were six human-like aliens. Four were dressed as warriors. They had strange armor on them. The armor covering their torsos was shades of red and sleeveless. The armor covering their legs was shades of blue. The other two looked like rulers of some kind. They were wearing elegant clothing and capes that were long and flowed. Then the wind died down.
Corazon couldn’t help but stand up to get a better look. Then Tia pulled her down. This, of course, attracted the strangers’ attention. Within a few minutes, they had walked over to the bushes and were looking down at the five girls.
“Greetings.” Said the female ruler. “I am Heranna.”
“And I am Racule.” Said the male ruler. “We are Bandaa.”
“We are here to take over your planet.” Said Heranna bluntly. “If you do not surrender peacefully, we will use force.” She motioned to the men with the armor on them.
“But they don’t have any weapons.” Tia said when everyone was standing up and could see the men in armor.
“They do not need weapons.” Racule nodded in their direction.
One of the four walked forward and reached out a hand. He motioned as though to grab something. Then Tia was floating in the air.
“Help!” She yelled! “Something’s got me!”
“That would be my minion’s hand.” Racule said, grinning at the sight. “Our kind has mastered the strength of the mind.” Then he nodded to the minion to put Tia down.
“That thing,” Tia panted, “That thing squeezed me.”
“Yes.” Heranna said. “We have the power to squash you.”
“Then why don’t you?” Dienna blurted.
“Because we’re running low on minions.” Racule said with a shrug.
“And we’ve got our eyes on a pretty little planet in a nearby galaxy.” Heranna added.
“How are we going to be able to do that?” Felicia asked as she pointed to Tia.
“Harnesses.” Heranna replied.
“As long as you do as we say, we won’t kill you.” Racule added.
“Sounds like a bargain to me.” Dienna scoffed.
“Will you shut up?” Giselle said to Dienna.
“No.” Dienna bluntly replied.
“If you don’t mind,” Racule interrupted. “I would like to have your answer.”
“Actually, we’re not authorized to make that decision.” Tia said.
“Oh?” Heranna asked.
“Then who is?” Racule questioned.
“The President of the United States of America.” Corazon blurted.
“Who?” Heranna was confused.
“Our leader.” Tia supplied.
“They’re not going to…” Dienna muttered.
“Then, take us to your leader.” Racule said.
“They did.” Dienna mumbled sarcastically. “They say that in every movie, book, and comic about aliens. ‘Take me to your leader.’ You’d think the real ones would be a little more original.”
“What are you implying?” Heranna asked.
“Only that you’re exactly what I expected.” Dienna honestly replied.
“Expected?” Racule asked. He and Heranna exchanged concerned glances.
“Well, we’ve often imagined what it would be like if aliens ever did arrive on Earth, and, in every story I’ve ever heard about aliens, the aliens always say ‘take me to your leader’.” Dienna replied.
“There hasn’t been anyone around talking about us, has there?” Racule asked.
“Goes by the name, ‘Twilight Wisher’.” Heranna added.
“Then why do I sense that you are lying?” Racule questioned.
“You can tell?” Corazon was astounded.
“Actually, we can’t.” Heranna said, grinning evilly. “We just use that as a trap for foolish people such as yourself.”
“Oh, great.” Dienna interjected. “This is perfect. Corazon just blew her own cover.”
Corazon sent a scowl in Dienna’s direction.
“Tell us, girl.” Said Racule. “What did Twilight tell you?”
“Only that you were coming.” Corazon replied.
“Did he give you anything?” Heranna asked.
“No.” Corazon smoothly lied. “He just came, yelled at us that you were on your way, and he got carted off by the sheriff.”
“Sheriff?” Racule was unsure of the definition.
“Law keeper.” Tia clarified.
“Really?” Heranna was intrigued and Racule was grinning.
“Then contact your president.” Racule said. “We wish to know the decision.”
“Decision?” Giselle absently asked.
“Whether you’ll surrender, or we’ll use force.” Heranna reminded her.
“Oh.” Corazon said, looking around at her friends. She was thinking about the device that had been given to her by Twilight.
