Hacker turned himself around in his small glass box and face a young girl of about fourteen. She looked the worse in the whole facility, hundreds of scars upon her bloody forehead. She looked up slowly at Hacker who was tapping on his box to get her attention.
“Delphi, you’ll want to talk to this guy,” Hacker said quickly.
Turning back to Enigma, Hacker let out a weak smile.
“Talk to her, she can tell the future…sort of. But she’s really cryptic, so you’ve been warned,” Hacker explained as Enigma looked over at Delphi.
“What significance is a teleporter named Crash?” Enigma asked curiously.
Like Hacker, Delphi’s eyes went wide and she let out the weakest smile that Enigma had ever seen.
“Coming up will be her…well, prophecy I suppose is the best name for it,” Hacker explained.
Delphi took a deep breath and then began to speak, “His name means destruction. He is here and then there. He can hear what isn’t said. He will save us.”
Hacker looked over at Enigma and smiled once again. Enigma however was more confused than ever.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t get any of that,” Enigma said with a frown. “Please explain.”
As Delphi went quiet once again, Hacker turned to explain.
“His name is destruction – you said this guy’s name is Crash. Crash equals destruction,” Hacker explained.
“Hacker, it’s just a nickname. I gave it to him for crying out loud,” Enigma said loudly.
“Let me finish. He is here and then there – a teleporter. He can hear what isn’t said. Um…” stammered Hacker as he thought on the spot for the moment.
“You’ve hit a bit of a wall, haven’t you? I’m the one who can hear what isn’t said. Telepathy, remember?” Enigma said boastfully.
“Still, two out of three isn’t bad,” Hacker muttered.
Enigma smiled and slumped to the bottom of his box. When was he going to get out of here? He’d only been here for four days and was already going insane. Hardball woke up soon after Delphi’s prophecy and noticed Hacker for the first time.
“Long time no see,” Hardball greeted.
“Back at ya,” Hacker responded.
As the day, or night, Enigma couldn’t exactly be sure, went on, he saw more Eons get dragged off to be probed by Mallick and Lazlo. Enigma had been counting. In the last four hours, thirty six Eons had been dragged off kicking and screaming, but only thirty had been put back in their boxes. The Eons were getting weaker, and that meant death in this place. Enigma couldn’t take it anymore. He had to get out of here. Summing up what energy he had he tried to send his thoughts.
Ghost? Ghost can you hear me? You’ve got to get us out! We’re dying in here!
Enigma already had a headache. Sending thoughts was the hardest thing to do as a telepathic, the easy part was reading thoughts. Enigma took a deep breath and tried again.
Anyone! Ghost, Dupe, Lizard, Crash? Someone!
Enigma exhaled, his nose dripping blood. Great, now I’m making my brain bleed, he thought to himself. Suddenly, Enigma nearly jumped out of his skin as a voice started speaking in his head.
Enigma? Is that you?
It was Crash. Crash was talking to him!
Crash? How’re you doing this?
Enigma breathed heavily again. It was getting harder and harder to send his thoughts.
I don’t know – I think I’m slightly telepathic. We’re coming to get you, Enigma. You’re in Berlin. We’ll be there as soon as we can.
Enigma prepared to send out his last thought.
Tell Ghost that Hardball and Hacker are alive! And tell him to hurry up! We’re not going to last much longer! Hurry!
Enigma’s nose was now gushing blood and a massive headache was setting in. Enigma couldn’t help it. He passed out.
