Nick and Zac: Your Typical "Big Brother's Best Friend And Little Sister" Story

Novel By: Cherie Arlavine
Young adult

Three years ago she was a fourteen-year-old tomboy. And he was an eighteen-year-old senior who looked at her like a little sister. And she always thought of him as a buddy or big brother.
But then he had to go to college, in Europe. And three slow years passed by, and now he's back. Nicholas comes back expecting to see his best friend and the little tomboy he left.
Zac was looking forward to seeing her old buddy. The one she used to wrestle and play football with. But Nicholas returns, and things are just not the same.
Nicholas is twenty-one, and he's built, tan, and cultured.
Zac is seventeen and she's curvy and sexy. Not flat chested and sporty.
And neither of them seem to like the changes.
Zac and Nicholas end up fighting rather then sharing old memories. Just because neither of them are so good at accepting change.
Josh, Zac's older brother, is trying to figure what the hell is wrong. He and Nick went right back to old times.
But Reece, Josh's other friend, has a theory about why Zac and Nick are either really polite or fighting.
And Josh doesn't like his theory at all.

As soon as he stepped through the door, Nicholas lost it. There she was again, trotting around in another one of those cute little lingerie pajamas outfit. Pink and blue this time, with a bra for a top and clear lace draping down from it, exposing skin, and the smallest damn shorts he'd even seen that he would swear didn't have the right to even be called shorts because they looked like underwear.

"Popcorn's done!" she cheered, skipping toward the kitchen. "Movie night! It's my pick though and I want to watch Hot Chick. I skipped my last two turns and I'm not skipping another." she announced, making her way to the microwave.

"Damn. I love it when she gets new pajamas." Reece whispered.

Josh just rolled his eyes.

"Aren't you going to do anything?" Nicholas demanded.

Josh shrugged. "What about? The movie? I like Hot Chick, it's not that bad."

"No. I mean about her so-called pajamas. You have two friends over and she's prancing around in…in that."

"Prancing? She's not prancing. That's just what she wears. She's been wearing stuff like that for two years now. I never had a problem with it. She just wears it around the house. I'm not going to ask her to change just because I decide to have guests over. That and she'll rip off my head. If it bothers you then you go tell her to change."

"I will!" Nicholas hissed.

"Good luck. But when she tears off your nuts don't say I didn't warn you." Josh said, laughing.

Nicholas marched into the kitchen, right up to me. I waved the box in front of him. "Look, I got the extra butter kind, because I know you like it."

"Zac, you need to go change." Nicholas snapped.

I made a face. "Why? Does this look that bad? I wasn't sure about it at first, because the colors are kind of girly, but I thought it looked cute once I put it on."

"You look like you belong in a Playboy magazine. Go change." he commanded.

Direct orders were one thing I didn't take well at all. "If it bothers you so much, you don't have to look." I picked up the popcorn bowl and shoved it into his gut with more force than necessary. I let go as his hands came around the bowl and he grunted. I skirted around, going back towards the livingroom. I turned on my heel when I heard him slam the bowl down. "Dammit Zac!" he yelled.

I put my hands on my hips. "What is with you? Ever since you got back you've been acting like a total dick. What is your problem?"

"Well for one thing, since when do you say 'dick'? Since when do you wear make up or wear those skimpy pieces of fabric you have the nerve to call clothes? I came back expecting to see Zac and I got you."

"Well news flash, Nicholas, I am Zac and I'm sorry I didn't tape down my boobs and put on some basketball shorts to accommodate you and make you happy. I'm sorry I grew up and I changed but you know what, it happens to a lot of people turns out. Get over it. Besides, I'm not the only one who's changed. You've changed too."

"Like how?" he asked.

"Like how you're suddenly telling me to change when three years ago you were drooling over and masturbating to girls who looked like me. You didn't give a flying shit what I wore then. I used to wear some of the same things I do now, but you just never noticed because I didn't have boobs or curves or a great ass to fill them out."

"Since when do you say masturbate?" he asked.

I groaned, rolling my eyes up in aggravation. "Masturbate! Masturbate! Fucking masturbate!" I shouted, then turned and walked into the livingroom.

"And you're cussing now?" he asked.

"Leave me the fuck alone!" I groaned. "Josh, tell your dumb ass friend to lay off."

"Hey, we have a bet on whether you'll kick him in the balls, keep going." Reece said.

I sat down next to Josh, gave him my 'little sister needs you' face. He looked at Nicholas. "Cool it, man. Let's just all relax and watch the movie okay?" He put a brotherly arm over me. "Okay?" he said to me.

"I'm going to bed." Nicholas spat, then stormed up the stairs.

"What is his problem?" I murmured.
