I looked sweetly at Jessica, the girl I'd had a crush on forever. She grinned and blushed as she looked back at me, and then turned to Angela.

"I hear there's going to be a new girl at school," she smiled, and Angela nodded.

"Yep. It's Chief Swan's daughter. She's moving from Phoenix." She chuckled. "We need a blonde around here. She'll probably be the only tan one in school, too. She's so lucky to live in such a sunny place."

Lauren looked up, rolling her eyes. "Oh, so I don't qualify as a blonde?" Tyler laughed and put an arm around her shoulder.

"Don't be silly. You're my favorite blonde here."

I laughed and took another bite of my hamburger. Ew.

"How do they classify this as food?" I frowned. Tyler shrugged.

"I don't know. I have a really bad feeling that the ingredients in this stuff is just a gumbo of stuff they find on the staff's floors." He grimaced as he picked something green out of his mashed potatoes, flicking it at Angela's plate.

"Eww, gross, Tyler!" she squealed, brushing the whatever-it-was off her shirt. I laughed and shook my head at my crazy friends.

"You guys are insane," I chuckled, high-fiving Tyler. It was funny to watch the girls get mad, especially at lunch. Their face would get really red, and I swear their hair would frizz up into a six inch afro. It was definitely amusing, to say the least. Angela rolled her eyes and spat chocolate milk at Tyler, getting it all over his face. Instantly, the whole table started cracking up--except for Tyler, of course. His face got beet-red, and I couldn't help but laugh harder. In fact, I laughed so hard, I fell off the plastic seat I was in.

Jessica laughed even harder, walking around the circular table to help me up, since no one else would. "Mike, are you okay?" she said, trying to contain her laughter. I frowned and nodded, standing up and brushing myself off.

"Idiots," I grumbled, sitting back down. Tyler laughed and punched me lightly in the shoulder, grinning.

"Oh, get over it Mike." I rolled my eyes and looked across the cafeteria.

"Oh, look, it's the Cullens," Angela whispered as the so called 'glorious' Cullens walked through the door in all their perfect, freaky radiance.

"They're weird," I muttered, looking down at my food. Jessica was staring at him, that 'Edward' character again. Something about those kids just didn't seem right-- I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was, but I knew it was there. And so did everyone else. Sure, they were attractive, but they were creepy beyond belief. The eyes, the bruises under their eyes... and they were just too perfect. Something was wrong there. No one in the school could keep their eyes off of them.

Oh well, maybe that new chick, Isabella, would be able to stay away. Maybe she had some common sense. God, I hoped she would.
