Chapter 23 – Dangerous Plan
It was morning. They had cuddled to sleep on the grass last night. Mara’s eyes fluttered open. Jun Xiong was still there with her. He still had her in his arms and was smiling at her. She was contented to lie here with him but she wanted to do more for him.
“Yes, there is one way. But I would NEVER do that.” Jun Xiong replied with vehemence.
So there’s hope! Mara was excited at the prospect of his possible reunion with his father. “What is the way? I want to know.” She gazed at Jun Xiong’s face innocently.
“I will tell you only if you promise not to force me to do it.” He knew her too well.
“Well… The only way Dad can see me is if I possess another human being. But the human may die in the process because of the extreme cold introduced into the body once I enter. I could never let anyone die because of me so please don’t think otherwise.” He warned her.
She shook her head. “Don’t worry, I won’t.” Unknown to Jun Xiong, Mara had already hatched a plan in her mind. I will make him possess me when the time comes, she thought to herself. She was willing to die for him. In fact, Mara welcomed Death. In that way, she could be with her mother and Jun Xiong forever.
“Is there any special places you want to go?” Jun Xiong asked Mara, interrupting her thoughts.
“As long as you’re with me, anywhere is special.” She felt blood gushing to her face as soon as his gaze settled on her.
Mara giggled. “No, I need to settle something in the afternoon.” She was going to look for his father again.
He eyed her suspiciously. Mara’s heart missed a beat. She had to think of an excuse fast. “Oh… I… uhm… I need to look for a job.”
“You used up all your cash already?” Worry lines started forming on Jun Xiong’s face.
Phew! Mara was relived that he believed her. “Not all but its time for me to start looking for a job.” She responded casually.
“Sorry, you can’t. I will get distracted. How about I meet you here tonight?” Mara was determined to bring his Dad to him again. This time, I’ll make sure Uncle sees you!
Jun Xiong had no other choice except to nod his head in agreement.
