Well, this deaf young lady sure could get to the point, I thought, scrolling through Google listings. It was a smooth idea- seeing if the hospitals and doctors were corrupt at the hospitals we were born at, e.t.c. So far, all we had found were investigative articles and speculation by local new outlets, like the Jerome Daily Republic, and obituaries for my sister, and electronic copies of birth and death certificates. However, the certificates of birth both indicated conjoined twin status which may have been due to “experimental alterations.” The death certificates stated the cause of death as “unknown,” “blood loss due to separation of conjoined twins,” “hospital error,” and, most strangely, “Infant brain deficiency syndrome.”
Catherine (that was her name) sighed tiredly, fatally bored. But now we were onto something, and I saw her tense up with excitement.
I typed “infant brain deficiency syndrome” into Google, hearing the computer hum. The results were enough to make me shake as I read. They had done something good so my sister wouldn’t die… but she died anyway. But how did I live? I was a complete unknown to the doctors until my mother’s seventh month of pregnancy…
