ROWAN

"Rowan..."

"Yes?"

"...I haven't had my period." She said. I was so shocked I stayed silent.

"Rowan?"

"I'll be right over." I said and hung up the phone. I got in my car and made my way to the closest pharmacy. I got a home pregnancy test and drove as fast as I could to Rhiannon's house. I arrive several minutes later. What would become of this girl if she was pregnant? I tortured my self thinking about it. In these past weeks Rhiannon and I have bonded so much I felt like life had given me a second chance at raising a daughter. I went around the water fountain in the middle of the drive way and parked beside the door. I went up the steps and Rhiannon opened the door as if she had been waiting attentive for my arrival. I went into the living room, spun around to face her and asked seriously "When were you supposed to get it?"

"Last week. I didn't say anything about it because I thought it was all the stress delaying it, but I think seven days is too much."

I reached in my purse immediately and tossed the pregnancy test at her.

"Pregnancy test?"

"Yes, now go to the bathroom and use it."

She went to the bathroom and came out a couple of minutes later.

"Five minutes, I know." I said. we waited for what seemed an eternity.

"It's been five minutes."I told her. She went to the bathroom and brought the stick back to me. I saw the stick and again became shocked. I stared at her wide eyed, my expression created a wave of intense fear in her.

"Rhiannon, you're pregnant." She began crying uncontrollably.

"Rowan I don't want to be pregnant." We huddled together on the couch all afternoon. I tried a countless amount of times to console her.

"What is going on here?" Her mom asked as she came in. Rhiannon stared at her with swollen red eyes.

"Rhiannon, why are you crying?"

"Mom, I'm pregnant."

"What?" Anger shot through her and her face became red. "No." She whispered "You can't be." Tears filled her eyes and for a second the thought that she actually cared about Rhiannon filled my head but that thought was crushed as soon as she began speaking again "No, that thing will not deform your body." She grabbed Rhiannon's arm dragging her towards the door.

"Where are we going?" Rhiannon asked frightened.

"Were going to get rid of that thing in you"

"Mom, it's a baby!"

"It isn't yet. I'm pretty sure its heart hasn't started beating."

"You can't do that!" I yelled.

"She's my daughter, my responsibility and I'm not gonna let her body be ruined by that bastard in her."

"Rowan, let's face it. This is the best thing to do. I'm too young to have a kid, how would I raise a kid if I'm a kid myself?"

"Rhiannon, I'll be by your side. I'll help you and I'm pretty sure your mom would to. Wouldn't you?"

"In that you are so wrong. I would never raise a child that wasn't my own, especially if it's the product of rape. She doesn't have a choice, were getting rid of that thing." She said pushing Rhiannon out of the door and into the car. I stayed on the steps unable to comprehend what had gone through Rhiannon like for her to agree to do this. I noticed she was staring back at me through the mirror. I lowered my head and went into my car. My second chance at raising a child had been ruined by that bastard who raped her. He made her into the egotistical selfish monster she has become. If it had been her mother she would'v been like that since the day I met her. I will track him down and make him pay for everything he has done. I will do anything to find him. Anything.
