I looked at the screen in shock. I swear my heart stopped. "You see that? That's your baby. There is its head." She moved the mouse over the perfect little body that was still developing, pointing to the round head. "Now we have the body and the little hands and little feet." She pointed to them as I stared at it in awe.

"It kind of looks like a tadpole." Tanner said smiling looked at the screen. "Is that a tail?" He asked the doctor as I hit him.
"Don't make fun of my baby. It is perfect." I snapped not really knowing why. Tanner just smiled at me before looking at the doctor for the answer to his question.
"Yes all fetuses have tails when they are first created but as they develop they lose them, or grow out of it. Your baby only has a little left since he is about 9 weeks old." She closed away and suddenly stopped and smiled. "I think you're going to like this. Would you like to hear your baby's heartbeat?" She asked. My eyes grew wide before I made a jerky nod. Tanner held my hand looking at the screen like a hawk. The doctor clicked around before I heard it. The most precious sound in the world. My baby's heart beep. The flickering made Tanner squeeze my hand as he watched the screen. Pride bubbled up in my chest as I saw the love forming in his eyes.
"That is amazing." He whispered. The doctor smiled.
"How big is it? If he wasn't in me, if he was in the palm of my hand how big would he be?" I looked at her before looking back at the screen as she fooled around checking on it.
"He would be the size of an olive, about an inch long, and it weighs a gram. So you are completely normal in your pregnancy. It's at the right stage, it is looking very good." She started to print out pictures. "Now in this stage of your pregnancy, things are going to start to change. Most woman breast become bigger, which is normal." I pulled a face.
"What about the morning sickness?" Tanner asked.
"There isn't much I can do for that. The hormones that are taking care of the two of them are more than she is used to so your body is trying to get used to them. Some good things to eat when you think you're going to get sick are pretzels, crackers, and carrots too. Eat ginger. It's the best; it got me through my pregnancy when I was pregnant with my son. Anything like Gingersnaps, Ginger Ale, other things that have ginger. Stuff like that." She said turning off the ultra sound machine and handing me a tissue.
"What about her nightmares?"
"There isn't much I can do for that. I can tell you it is related. Many woman have more frequent nightmares as some of the stress levels go up and a pregnancy on a body is tuff, even more since your only 18 your stress level is probably very high, but hopefully as your body comes down your nightmares will get less frequent making sleep a comfort and less bad. Also sex is fine till really the end of your pregnancy. It's really a good thing, and you can't poke the baby and it can't see anything." Tanner's face broke into a wide grin as she smiled sitting in her chair. "Any more questions?"
"No that's it." I smiled looking at the pictures she handed me. You can make it out perfect, well not really but I can.
"So I want to give you another ultrasound when your about 20weeks which is the half way point in your pregnancy. You should be able to see the sex and its face clearly. You can make an appointment at the front desk. Call me if anything happens you're not sure of, something happened, you can call me. You have my number. Um that's about it. I will see you in 11 weeks." Tanner helped me get off the table, and then he wrapped his arm around my waist holding me firmly but not putting too much pressure on my lower stomach.
"What do you want to do now?" He asked me as we walked out to his car.
"Maybe we should go back to my house and talk to my mom. We should tell her. This is important and I think she will understand. Well I more hope she will." I sighed as I got in his truck. He drove us home and parked on the street as all the snow was gone. It was getting to early spring now so it wasn't so cold out. I walked to the front door pull on hoodie closer to me as I opened the door with my key. "Mom you home?" I called into the house.
"Yes in the kitchen sweetheart." She called back. The house was oddly quiet and it was weird. I walked into the kitchen with Tanner behind me. Hunter was sitting at the table talking to her as she cooked. "Good afternoon sweetheart I just making come dinner for your brother and Asher, would you like some?"
"No I'm good, but uh, can I talk to you alone?" Hunter looked at me before he narrowed his eyes.
"Sure, Hunter will you and Tanner watch the food for me? Thanks." She walked to my bedroom with me and sat on my bed. "What's up Ryan?" She asked. I sighed and pulled the picture out of my pocket and showed her it. She looked at it before looking at me then looking back at the picture.
"They said I'm about 9 weeks pregnant." I whispered. Mom looked down at the picture before she hugged me.
"I want to yell at you and be mad and scream. But I can't because I was pregnant; I gave birth to you and your brother when I was your age. It doesn't seem far. I knew what it felt like to have something that will always love you. I know this wasn't part of your plan to get pregnant, but I know it will work out for you in the end. What your grandpa always said to is what I'm going to say to you. Everything is good in the ended, if it's not good, it's not the end." I laid my head on her shoulder as the silent tears rolled down my face………….
