“Ryan,” Tanner looked at me in horror as my blood pressure started to drop. Dr. Fisher looked at him.
“I’m sorry Tanner.” He said before quickly standing up. “Let’s get her to the O.R. now.” He shouted at the nurses. Tanner held my hand as I lay there unconscious.
“What the hell is going on Doc?” He said as the nurse pushed him away as they rolled me out of the room. The doctor looked at him as a nurse rubbed a screaming Wyatt.
“I don’t know what’s wrong Tanner; but I know that Bailey needs to be delivered fast. I can’t tell you much right now because I got to go. I promise I will be back to tell you what happened but right now I need to go help your fiancée.” He said as a nurse came in to tell him I was ready.
“Please save her. Both of them.” He whispered looking at the doctor.
“I am going to try my best Tanner. Not as a doctor but as a marine. Go spend time with your son.” He said running out of the room. Tanner closed his eyes as the tears rolled down his face. He felt a hand on his shoulder making him look at it. Mom stood there looking at Tanner as the tears were flowing. Mom pulled him into hug as he cried.
“It’s going to be okay Tanner.” She whispered stroking his head as he cried on her shoulder.
“How is going to be okay? I might lose my daughter and my future wife.” He sobbed.
“I know Sweetheart, but don’t lose your faith. She will make it out of this. We need to believe. Do you understand me Marine?” She asked putting her hands on both of Tanner’s wet cheeks making him look at her. “Have faith Tanner.” He nodded closing his eyes.
“Mr. Williams?” Tanner looked up at the nurse. “Would you like to see your son?” He nodded looking at the white bundle she held in her arms. Tanner sat down on the couch as the nurse handed him the screaming bundle. “Congratulations you have a healthy 17 inch, 6 pounds 1 ounce baby boy.” He looked up at the nurse.
“Thank you.” He whispered before looking at Wyatt.
“Does he have a name?” She asked picking up all her papers to write it down.
“Wyatt Cooper Williams.” He smiled stroking Wyatt’s little red hand over the white blanket that was keeping him warm. Mom smiled putting her hand on Tanner’s shoulder as she looked at her grandson.
“Cooper is going to love that.” She smiled as the tears that had formed in her eyes fell down. Tanner gently rocked Wyatt. “Hi Handsome.” He whispered making Wyatt open his closed eyes to listen to the sound of his voice. Wyatt opened his mouth before he closed it again.
“He knows your voice.” Mom whispered looking at Wyatt. “He looks like you.” She smiled. Tanner looked up.
“This is so bittersweet. I have the perfect son but I could lose my daughter and the love of my life. It’s not fair. I can’t lose her. I can’t live with myself if she wasn’t around.” He looked down at Wyatt. “But I couldn’t live with myself if I left him. He just so perfect. I don’t understand how someone can hate their baby, there child. I could never hate him. He can’t do anything that would make me hate him.” He smiled looking at mom. She smiled.
“I know the feeling. My babies can’t do anything wrong in my eyes. Sure I wish Ryan didn’t get pregnant so young, but look at what came out of it. This beautiful little boy in your arms, the arms of his father. I remember when I was her age. I fell in love with my brother’s best friend. But I got shot and I told that I could never carry a baby like I always wanted too. I feared my boyfriend was going to leave me because I could never give him the baby he wanted. But he didn’t. He proposed to me as I laid on my hospital bed. He cared. He left for boot camp and became a marine. He came home and we got married. I didn’t I was going to have a baby.” She wiped her eyes as Tanner stared at her. Wyatt was sleeping in Tanner’s arms as a nurse came in with a little hat for his head.
“So what happened?” He whispered. Mom smiled.
“I was getting sick the whole time he was gone. I was tired; I was throwing up everything I ate. I felt horrible most of the time. But every time I took a pregnancy test it false. I wasn’t pregnant. I got hopes up every time and every time my hopes were crushed. I was pregnant and I thought I could never get pregnant.” Mom sighed. “Then at my wedding my mom showed up. I didn’t see my mom for 11 years and she shows up and ruins my wedding. But she brought this little boy. He was the cutest little 4 year old with black hair and green eyes. He was my brother. Till my mom stole my nephew and tried to shoot him. She got shot and left the little boy alone. So me and Cooper took him in. My little boy, my Hunter.”She smiled closing her eyes remembering that time. “A couple months later I hated myself. I should have known I was pregnant. I almost killed my babies. My precious little twins. I almost killed them. They were so small. But they lived. They fought for their lives and they won. I will never forget the time I could take them home. I had hoped that my babies would live. And they did. Now look at them. They are both following their dreams, and my baby had a baby. I couldn’t be happier.” She said laying her hand on Tanner’s arm. “Just have hope.” She whispered.
“Thank you Patty.” He smiled gently looking down at Wyatt. They both looked up as they heard footsteps outside the room. Doctor Fisher stood there with no emotion on his face……
