I slipped back into my jeans and shirt walking out with the dress gently folded on my arm. Mom smiled taking the dress from me. “You looked so beautiful Baby.” She kissed my cheek before she walked away with the dress to pay for it. I told her I was going to pay but she insisted that she pay for it. I would have argued on it but I just kind of don’t have that much money to spear with the twins growing so fast. I looked at the girls as Audrey helped Emmy up from the couch leaving ‘Candy’ to get up by herself. I walked over to them and smiled.
“You ready to go to lunch?” They nodded as ‘Candy’ watched us. “I also need to go pick up some stuff for the babies after or if we can go to the store maybe. Wyatt needs a new onesie and Bailey needs a new bib and I swear I’m almost out of diapers but I can get those on my way home.” I nodded.
“I’ll go with you. I need to get Asher a couple of new shirts. That boy destroys everything he wears.” She sighs rubbing her belly.
“Well he is only 2 years old.” Audrey says as we walk out after saying bye to Mom and Aunt Kirsty. Emmy nodded.
“I know but it’s just so weird not having Hunter around. It just seems like Asher is just lost. He is having trouble falling asleep and usually just comes into my room and sleeps with me. I just don’t know what to do.” I looked at her.
“He is still having trouble sleeping?” She nodded. “Well to me it sounds like Ash really just misses his Daddy. You know what it’s like to be young when Dad’s away. He just doesn’t understand what he is doing yet.” Audrey looked at me as we got to are cars.
“Yeah I guess. So we will be eating lunch first before we go shopping quickly.” Emmy and I nod. “Okay so we will me you at the place we always go to.” I nodded as I got in my car. I drove to the dinner we always go to and parked in the parking lot. I waited till I saw Audrey’s car pull up into the spot next to me. We walked into the dinner and they sat us as we ordered what we always got. Emmy took a sip of her water looking at Audrey and me.
“How is my nephew doing other than not sleeping well?” I asked as they brought over my Dr. Pepper.
“I think I’m going to bring him over to your house tomorrow. He misses his Auntie. I fell like since we moved onto base he doesn’t get to see you as often as he used to. Well since you had the twins he doesn’t even get to be baby sat by you.” She sighs and rubs her belly. “I feel like my son is so left out.” She looked down.
“What are you talking about you can bring him over whenever you or he needs me. Just because I have the twins now doesn’t mean I don’t love Asher. I have loved him for like since I met him. He might not be my nephew by blood but Hunter and I have shown that he is my nephew, his son, by heart. Think of it this way. If my family thought that just because you’re not related to us because of blood, well Hunter wouldn’t be here today.” Emmy nodded.
“I know it’s just. My son. I care him so much. I need him to be happy. I don’t want him to feel like just because I’m having another baby that he is getting kicked out. He means the world to me. And he means the world to Hunter. Even if he isn’t Hunter’s biological son. But he’s little and he doesn’t see how he cares.” A tear rolled down her face. “I just want my son to be happy.” Audrey handed her a tissue.
“How about you drop off Asher over tomorrow morning and me and him will spend the day with the twins. It will be fun. I was planning on trying to take them strawberry picking and have fun.” I smiled as out food came out.
“I don’t know.” She said.
“No you have work so I am going to take Asher with me. Audrey do you have class.” I asked looking at her.
“No the teacher cancelled saying that they had a family emergency.” She shrugged. “I thought that I could maybe come with you and the children since TJ is still in South America with Logan on the training mission.” She rolled her eyes.
“Of course you can come. See now you have to let us take Asher. It’s just right.” I giggled at Emmy.
“Okay, okay you can take Ashe strawberry picking tomorrow.” She smiled finishing off her food. “You are so bossy Ryan.”
“I know. I thrive on it.” I said sticking my tongue out at her…….
I opened the front door of the apartment as I heard crying. I looked around to find Wyatt sitting on the floor by the couch in only his diaper on and a bottle on the floor next to him. He had a thoughtful look on his face as he stared at the TV that was playing a commercial. I looked at him with a raised eyebrow at the bottle full of milk next to him. I put the bags down and closed the door. “Wyatt what are you doing?” I laughed at him making him look over. He made some sounds before he cooed at the screen. I picked him up before I grabbed his bottle. He took it from my hand and started to chew on the nipple on top. I looked around to find Dad to find him in the bathroom. “Dad what are you doing? And why is Wyatt half naked?” He looked up at me from where he was washing a screaming Bailey.”
“Well first they both woke up from there nap way too early so they are both tired; than Wyatt got into a bag of flower in the kitchen, which I already cleaned up don’t worry, so I had to give him a bath. Now Bailey got sick all over herself so I wanted to give her a bath to clean her up and make her more comfortable but I forgot how much she hates them.” He sighed looking down at her as she cried for me. He finished washing her hair lifting her out of the water.
“Do you know why she got sick?” I asked him as he wrapped her in a towel.
“I just gave her her lunch and after I put her down to play around she just started to puke it all up. I don’t know what happened. I gave Wyatt the same thing and he is fine. So it wasn’t the food.” He said As we walked out into the living room. Bailey cried reaching for me over and over again.
“Here take him so I can calm her down before she gets sick again.” We switched babies so I cuddled Bailey to my chest. She looked up at me as I dried her like I always did. “My poor baby.” I whispered kissing her head. Dad looked at me.
“Let me go put him down and get her a diaper so she isn’t naked.” He smiled kissing Wyatt’s head. I walked into the kitchen cradling Bailey rocking her gently as she calmed down from all her crying.
“What is wrong with my little baby?” I asked her making her look at me with her big blue eyes. I heard the phone ring making me look over to where it sat on the cradle. I picked it up holding it to my ear using my shoulder.
