I walked into the cool nursery to see Wyatt fast asleep on his stomach. He had his devil dog under his arm making me smile. He had his bottle on the other side of him as he snored ever so gently, just like Tanner. I looked over at Bailey and rushed over to her crib. She was the one that cried. "Baby, oh baby." I gently picked her up out of the bed. She was red and cover in puke. She must have puked in her sleep because her crib had it all over it. She started to cry making me fret so she didn't wake up her brother. I walked out quickly, just as Dad was about to leave. He looked at me holding Bailey a little way away from my body not like usually when I hold her to me. He shot up and walked over to me.

"What happened?" He asked taking her from me making her cry harder wanting me. I pressed my lips to her head. "She is covered in vomit Ryan." He said looking at her body.
"I know, I don't know what happened. Wyatt is fast asleep and she is laying there covered in it. Do you think you can hold her so I can throw her sheets into the washer?" Dad nodded taking off her onesie and handing it to me he went to the diaper bag pulling out a couple of baby wipes to wipe her down with. I walked back into the darkened room again over to Bailey's crib. I put the onesie at the end of the crib and picked up her favorite blanket. It had soft pink camo fabric, not like flannel, it was cotton. I had gotten it for her before Tanner deployed so she could look at it when he was gone. It had a picture of him holding her as she was in her diaper giggling. He had no shirt, just the way she liked it, skin on skin contact. I don't blame her. The best place in the world is in Tanner's arms. The blanket had the Marine Corps emblem on it. It matched Tanner's tattoo on his chest. I sighed moving the blanket to hang over the rails on the crib as it only had a couple of drops of puke on it. I think I will just hand wash it and throw it into the dryer. I pulled off the sheets and took off her baby bumpers. I walked over to the end of the hall way pulling open the washing machine door. I throw the sheets and bumpers into the washer and turned it on. I walked back into the nursery and got some wipes and wiped down the mattress. I also wiped down the bars, just to be safe. I put on new sheets and her spear bumpers. I grabbed a new onesie and diaper before walking out closing the door. I had the baby monitor on my hip so I could hear Wyatt when he wakes up. I quickly threw Dad sat with Bailey on his knees as she cried for me. I walked over to her gently picking her up. She snuggled into my chest for comfort. Dad looked at me.
"Is it all clean Ry?" I nodded my head pulling Bailey from her hiding place on my shoulder to change her. Dad sat there and watched as she cried wanting to go back. I laid her back on my shoulder and gently rubbed her back.
"What do I do Dad?" I asked closing my eyes fighting tears. He took a deep breath.
"I don't know; let me go call your Mom. This is her expertise." He kissed my head before walking out to call Mom. I moved a little to get comfortable as Bailey squirmed, almost asleep. I picked up her binky from the diaper bag and put it in her mouth. She sucked away on it finally falling asleep. I looked at the television and watched whatever was on. I looked up as Dad walked back in. "Yes honey she is taking care of Bailey. Yes Patty, I will put you on speaker. Just be a little quiet, Bailey is sleeping." He checked on his cell phone.
Mom* Okay can you hear me Ryan?
Me* Yes Mom I hear you loud and clear.
Mom* Good. Now what is wrong with my little baby?
Me* She is been puking a lot. I didn't even think she had that much liquid in her it's that much. I don't like seeing her cry like she does when she is done.
Mom* I know Baby but you have to remember it hurts to vomit and she is only a baby.
Me* I know Mom, I just….I don't even know. What do I do?
Mom* Does she have a fever?
Me* I haven't checked yet.
I heard mom sigh. I looked down at Bailey to see her moving around uncomfortably. I know my baby and I know something is wrong, very wrong. She gave out a whimper before moving her hands to grip my tee shirt. I pressed my lips to her head.
Mom* Well Cooper please go get the baby thermometer so we can take Bailey's temperature.
Me* Dad it's in the bathroom in the medicine cabinet.
He nodded before he walked out to go to the bathroom. I gently rubbed Bailey's back. For the first time feeling how warm she is.
Me* Mom she is really warm. Warmer than usual.
Mom* It just means she probably has a fever.
Me* That's not good is it.
Mom* No not usually. It usually means that she is sick.
Dad came back into the room. "I found two and didn't know which one to pick so I took both of them." He said looking up.
Mom* Which ones do you have Ryan?
Me* Well when I got one there were so many of them I didn't know which one to choose because I really didn't want to get the one you had to stick up their butts so I choose the one that was a binky and a ear one.
Mom* Hmmmm I want you to take her temperature with both of them.
Me* Okay Mom.
I took the pacifier one from Dad's hand and switched that one for the one in Bailey's mouth. We waited a couple of seconds till it beeped. My eyes widened as I looked at the number.
Mom* What is it Ryan?
Me* 103.8°F
Mom* Okay do the other one.
Dad gently put the thermometer into Bailey's ear making her squirm and spit out the other one. I switched the pacifiers so she had her usual one in her mouth.
Dad* I got the same thing, 103.8
Mom* Okay, I want you to call the Doctor right now because that is too high. You know what, better yet just come down to the hospital. Something isn't right.
Me* Okay Mom I will bring her down right now.
Mom* Okay I will be waiting at the doors for the two of you.
I hung up the phone and stood up. Dad looked at me. "You go. I'll stay here with Wyatt. Take care of her." I put her in her car seat that was at the door way and strapped her in. I quickly ran to the dryer to grab her blanket before we let. I picked her up walking out. I strapped her into her car seat in the car before getting into the driver's seat. I took a deep breath before I started the car and drove onto base towards the base hospital…………………
