Momma Knew Better

Chapter Four

When I left the bathroom Austen was sitting on the floor beside the door on his phone talking to someone but once I saw him he closed it quickly, like I had caught him doing something really bad.

“So, who were you talking too?” I pushed.

“Oh, no one… Checking my voice messages.” He stutters.

Liar. “Oh, okay.” I sigh and start walking back to class.

“Wait, Lily, want to go outside?” Austen asks.

“Um, not really…”

“Why not? We’re not doing anything good in class.” He pleads.

“Fine, I guess so, but if we get in trouble you better save my ass.”

“Oh, I’ll save your ass. You don’t even have to ask.” I hear him whisper.

As we walk out the side doors I noticed his reaction and I took a deep intake of breath. He looked more calm and collected outside. When I looked over at him he looked away, I had caught him looking at me.

“Sorry, I was, uh…” He stammers.

“It’s okay…” I blush.

We walk some more and pass the gate to leave school, but as I’m about to open the gate his hand lands on mine and I gasp and look up at him. He smiles weakly, brushes his thumb against my hand and pushes my hand apart to slowly lace his fingers in mine.

“Is this okay?” He asks slowly.

I look at the ground blushing and nod. “Yes, it’s okay.” I say as he pulls me out of the gate and into the woods beside out school.

“Follow me, I know where a secret hiding spot is Lily.” He smiles back wickedly.

“Okay.”

Following him into the woods and pushing branches, leaves and twigs out of my way we find an opening and a big tree stump where Austen sits down and pulls me down beside him. Our thighs touching and out hands still locked together.

“Its pretty.” I say, I couldn’t stand the quiet.

“Yea, not as pretty as you. I know I’m coming on to fast. I know you’re probably scared but Lily, your so beautiful and sweet and just I thought you were going to be pissed when I almost hit your car… I just fall to quickly for girls… and you’re the girl that I’ve fallen the hardest for in the smallest amount of time I’ve known you.” He takes a breath and looks into my eyes.

I didn’t expect all that. I didn’t even know what to say. All I could do was look into his eyes as I felt them getting closer and then his lips were on mine. I kissed him back and his hand flew to my hip and the other one that was locked into mine stayed between us. The kiss wasn’t my first and inevitably, most likely not his first either. He knew what he was doing and so did I.

The kiss was deepened and his tongue slowly pressed against my teeth. I didn’t want that now, not yet, so I pulled away.

“Damn.” He smiles.

“Damn is right….” I sigh and smile up at the trees.
