The crowd was cheering, yelling, screaming as the two girls were brought into the cage. The one was 16, and had flame red hair that hung in curls down her back. Her eyes were a vivid emerald green. She looked small and thin, but was actually fast and strong. The other girl was twenty and had lost 4 fights. She nervously examined her competition. Then, the man stood up, his black robes billowing.
"Welcome ladies and gentlemen. We have a real treat for you today! I give you The Fighter" He gestured towards the twenty years old woman who stiffened. "She has been fighting since she was 11, and has lost 4 matchs. I wish her luck as she goes up against Tyche, a sixteen year old who has never lost a fight since she arrived at our cages at age 11" The crowd errupted in more cheers. The red haired girl closed her eyes. Tyche wasn't her real name. It was Jade, Jade Mailing. But once you turned 15 in the cages, they gave you a name based on how well you have done. She was named after the greek goddess of luck, because she had never lost a fight. A gong sounded and The Fighter lunged at Tyche, desperate not to lose. Tyche flipped over The Fighter and sweeper her feet out from under her. The Fighter fell, cursing. Tyche grabbed one of The Fighter's legs and swung her into the cage wall. The Fighter stood up and tackled Tyche. They wrestled on the ground.
"Jade, please" The Fighter whispered. "I need to win.... Please Jade" Tyche hesitated. She would still have four more chances. And The Fighter didn't deserve to die. She nodded and let go of The Fighter's hair. She went limp as The Fighter grabbed Tyche's throat, lifting her up. Suddenly a piercing siren interrupted the jeering of the crowd, and Tyche and The Fighter both froze. Two guards stormed the cage, dragging The Fighter off of Tyche.
"No!" screamed Jade. " I lost! Don't hurt The Fighter!" Another guard came in and restrained Jade while The Fighter was dragged out. The announcer stood up, fury written all over his face.
"Tess Drives has been Disqualified for attempting to sabotage the fight. This means she has lost her 5th fight." He said, his voice cold, and furious. The Fighter screamed, begging for mercy, for another chance. She was dragged in front of the announcer and forced to her knees. A rope was placed around The Fighter's neck and she glanced at Jade, terrified. Jade made the symbol of the cross, and mouthed: I'm sorry. The Fighter closed her eyes, as a Guard pulled a lever and The Fighter was pulled into the air, hanging from the rope. The crowd went silent, in respect, while someone read The Fighter's many accomplishments. Then, the crowd turned towards the announcer, who was watching Tyche, with a wickied gleam in his eye.
