................. I walked shakily out of the bedroom praying to god everything was a really bad dream, but by the pain I had in my face was telling me that wasn’t going to be the case. Riley was leaning in the kitchen counter talking quietly to Brody.

“Hey” Brody hurried over and put his arm round me and helped me to a stool “You shouldn’t be up you have concussion”

“Screw the concussion” I groaned “And damn seeing you makes it definatly real” I pulled a face at Riley.

“Love you too” she chuckled

“How long was I out for this time?”

“Just a couple of hours” Brody said getting me a glass of water.

“He’s really left me hasn’t he” Riley nodded pain flashing across her face “I want to go home?”

“I know but…” I looked at her pleadingly. “I’ll make arrangements” she slid off the stool and picked up her phone as mine rang. I took it from th e side.

Me * hey
Flynn * hey you
Me * it was an accident, he didn’t… he’d never do it on purpose
Flynn * he’s hurt you to many times Sis
Me * I don’t care Flynn I love him…
Flynn * he’s gone with a spilt lip and a back eye and you’re better off with out him
Me * Don’t say that and you hit him
Flynn * oh yeah… and he’s been warned never to cross your path again.

It felt like my entire future had been taken from me and I was staring into nothing

Flynn * B I love you and I hate what he’s doing to you
Me 8 What he’s doing… Damn it Flynn if you loved me you know what he means to me… and you need to listen to me
Flynn * B
Me * shut the hell up and listen… I ran into his fist when he swung back to hit the guy that had knocked up his sister…

The tears were streaming down my face and my head was pounding

Me 8 He had his damn back to me he didn’t even know
Flynn * I didn’t…
Me * shut up I’m so mad with you right now and if Dad and the others have gone off on him as well then tell them I don’t want to see any of you for a while.

I slammed the phone closed Brody and Riley we’re looking at me.

“B you can’t be mad at them for defending you” Riley said quietly

“I can if they don’t get the full story” I snapped getting off the stool and steadying myself as the room tilted a little. “Did you get flights?” she nodded “Brody I’m sorry we brought this to your door” I sighed

“Hey You didn’t’ it was one of those things” she smiled hugging me gently “You have a place here whenever you need it”

“Thanks means a lot” I nodded “I’ll go pack”

………………….. I hardly said a word to Riley on the flight home more because my head was hurting with the pressure of the flight than anything else, but also I had to face the apartment alone without him there. I got a few funny looks from people at the swollen lump on the side of my head and the bruising round my eye but as per normal Riley was like a pit bull if they stared to long even to the point of making a kid cry for looking. We walked down the jet way in to the muggy heat of North Carolina. Flynn was standing there with Dad waiting for the two of us. I ground my teeth together as I saw a cut under Flynn’s left eye.

“Hey you” Flynn smiled kissing Riley. Dad was looking at me with a gritted look on his face biting his tongue dying to say something about J.J. “Hey B” I looked at Flynn and walked past the three of them.

“B” Dad called after me but talking to the people that could have stopped J.J. from leaving and didn’t wasn’t really what I wanted to do right now. I kept walking. “Breana” I walked through the doors on to the curbside where the taxi’s were pulling up and collecting passengers. “Don’t you dare young lady” Dad caught my arm. I snatched it away.

“Did you even let him explain things” I snapped

“The mark on your face is the only explanation I need”

“Well that just makes you ignorant doesn’t it” I opened the door of the next cab in line “You could have listen to him… but no you all have to wade in like I’m some 2 year old that needs protection… Well guess what Being Marines doesn’t make you GOD” I got in the taxi and slammed the door telling him the address of the apartment. I was going to grab fresh things and leave to the only other place I felt safe.

I walked into the apartment J.J.’s cowboy boots and clothes he’d been wearing the night of the party were over the back of the couch I ran my fingers over the jeans and carried on into the bedroom his bag was sitting on the bottom of our bed the closet door open his kitbag missing along with the things he took with him when he went away. I sat on the edge of the bed and looked round till a envelope caught my eye taped to the mirror I slowly got up as I heard car doors banging from the street below. I walked across and pulled it off pushing it in to my purse when I saw J.J. handwriting on it. I pulled a few things from my closet and draws pushing them in to a case taking nothing that wasn’t needed. I don’t know how long I was going to be gone for but wearing stiff other than jeans and t-shirts and hoodies wasn’t an option. I grabbed my jewelry stuff and laid them on the top as the buzzer for the door was constantly ringing. I picked up my truck keys and made sure everything was turned off. I looked round once more before walking out of the door and down the fire escape that lead into the parking lot. Flynn and Dad were at the front door waiting to be let in Riley was sitting in the truck crying I silently walked to my truck and through my things in the bed and got in and drove out not looking back, My Family had hurt me more than J.J. ever had and right now I was alone and that was fine by me……………………
