“I don’t know on top of the world I think” I smiled “He’s safe”
“Marines save the day” Landon chuckled
“I guess they do” I looked over my shoulder at him and nodded. “So did you know who it was? When you answered the phone?”
“No he sounded a little surprised that I answered but he just asked for you for you so I thought it was Bryn” Landon got up from the floor and dusted off his shorts.
“I guess I should call my Mom and Dad” I looked at the time on my phone. I hit the number for Dad’s private line at the embassy.
Dad * he called you didn’t he
Me * oh yeah.
Dad * how you doing?
Me * I think I just aged about 50 years in the past 20 hours
Dad * you and me both sweetheart
Me * how’s Mom doing?
Dad * shes good… she lost the ability to talk in English last night when she got here, which really confused some of the local staff

“I guess it was”
“You mean you didn’t even notice when you changed languages” Ryan asked
“No” I shrugged “it’s something we’ve always done”
“I think we need to go inside and work out how we’re going to celebrate” Landon grinned “and if you can maybe talk to me in Portuguese again” he chuckled.
“I think sleep would be good” I sighed a wave of exhaustion washed over me.
“It’s going to be 80 degrees today and you want to sleep” Kendra smiled “I think we need to go swimming at the lake”
“Oh sweet idea” Ryan smiled his arm still round Jenna.
“I’m going to stay here and help out Dad” She sighed
“You’re so not going to hang around moping after that jack ass” Landon groaned “Jenna you’re better than that”
“I just broke up with the guy I’ve dated for the past 3 years… I don’t feel like going out” she snapped
“He was cheating on you” Ryan pointed out. “You need to show him you don’t care because how I feel I think Landon and I have done pretty well not to beat his sorry ass”
“I’m going to take a shower” Jenna pulled away from Ryan and walked intothe house.
“Tact really passed you by didn’t it” Kendra slapped his arm
“Ow what the…”
“It doesn’t matter that he cheated on her shes going to feel like crap because she’ll blame herself for him screwing around” she poked Ryan in the chest “even if it’s not her fault… I know I was there a few weeks ago remember” she walked in the house after Kendra
“Dude do you ever put your brain in to gear before you start flapping your gums” Landon smirked.
“Obviosly not” Ryan shook his head.
“I’d better go make it up to my sister and the hot piece of ass I’m dating” he laughed looking at the glare Landon gave him, he went intot he house.
“And then there was two” I sighed as the wind whipped my hair.
“Yep” he looked at me “I’m so happy about Jamie”
“Me too” I nodded. “I never want to go through that again”
“So do you want to go to the lake and swim?”
“I think we need to be around for Jenna don’t you?”
“I suppose you’re right” he nodded “You want to go back to bed for a while” I started to laugh. ‘What?”
“Nothing just thinking about what people would say if they heard you ask me that” I smiled walking toward the house.

“No but people would automatically think we were…” he cut me off
“I promised not till homecoming and we still have three weeks till then” his eyes became sea green and full of intensity. He was inches from me but not touching me. my stomach was in knots I leant forward my mouth next to his ear
