....................... I went to bed and spent the entire night tossing and turning finally dropping off to sleep ten minutes before the alarm clock went off, I groaned and rolled out of bed.
“I’ll leave you the keys for my car if you like and I’ll ride in with Ryan” Jenna smiled warmly at me. “Because you look like crap”
“I feel like it as well” I rubbed my neck. “I’ll get ready and come with you guys” I sighed “as long as you promise not to mention to anyone the conversation we had last night”
“Why… you scared to show emotion”
“No scared of being judged” I walked into the bathroom and got ready for school. Ryan and Jenna were talking out front of the house as I pulled on my hoodie and walked over to them,
“Landon was pissed when he got back to his house last night” Ryan commented as the three of us got in his truck.
“I’m sure Tera will sort out his frustration” I sighed looking out of the window.
“You now she went into the bathroom to him right he didn’t…”
“Ryan its okay I don’t need and explanation… I’m not owed an explanation” I chewed my lip “So you need to go shopping to get shoes to go with your dress?” I asked looking at Jenna.
“Sure sounds like fun but I have to go to the dentist after lunch today so you’ll need to wait for Ryan on your own”
“That’s fine” I yawned “I’ll get a chance to do my homework” we pulled into the parking to at school and I got out and walked away from the truck and in to school. Landon was leaning against my locker talking to Henry.
“Hey Izzy did you get the homework assignment done?” Henry asked cheerfully.
“Yeah but I don’t know how good it’s going to be” I nodded “I’ll meet you in class” I didn’t even put my bag in my locker. I walked by Landon and up the stairs to class as Tera was walking down. A smug grin plastered across her face my hands balled into fists at my sides.
“Hey handsome” I heard her call out I glanced back and saw her walking over to Landon. Today was going to be a long assed day.
I sat down in the library free study period before the end of school I sat staring at my Math homework but right now I don’t think I could even put two and two together correctly. I pushed my pen into my pony tail and rubbed my hand over my face.
“Hey” I looked up as a backpack was dropped down in front of me on the desk. “I’m sorry I took off last night” Landon pulled out the chair opposite me and sat down.
“Aren’t you supposed to be in class” I whispered as the Librarian looked round.
“Yep” he nodded “But I can’t concentrate”
“I guess falling for a girl does that to you” I moved his bag off of my books and hurriedly put them in my bag. “I have to go…” I struggled to find an excuse to get up and walk out of here, I looked at him ready to break and tell him what I thought till I spotted the mark on his neck, the hickey. I felt like I’d been slapped again.
“Iz” he called after me as the bell sounded and the halls filled up. I fought my way through. “Isabel” I caught up with Ryan as he opened the door.
“Hey you have soccer practice tonight?” he asked.
“No I think I’m going to walk home”
“13 miles” Ryan laughed.
“Izzy” Ryan looked round as Landon skidded through the doorway.
“Come on give the guy a chance to…”
“Oi Isabel” I stopped dead in my tracks and looked at Ryan. I looked round and clapped my hand to my mouth I dropped my bag at Ryan’s feet and was sprinting across the sidewalk and into Jamie’s waiting arms he hugged me “Ow sis be careful” he winced as I caught his ribs. I stepped back and swatted him. “Hey”
“That’s for getting your ass shot off and worrying the people who love you” I sniffed burying my head in his shirt.
“Yeah I did it on purpose” he groaned “Hey people are looking at us”
“I don’t’ care” I wiped my eyes and looked at him he looked tired and there was some slight marks on his face and the cast on his wrist but other than that he looked good.
“Topped up your tan then Izzy he clipped my under the chin with his thumb”
“Yeah fun by the lake” I nodded “I thought you were going to call me when you got in to the U.S. or at least that’s what Bryn told me”
“I was going to but I thought I’d hire the car and drive up here to see you instead because I have to leave in a few days” my heart sank “I’m going to Belgrade for a week to see someone”
“Talia?” I tipped my head to the side and put my hands on my hips.
“Oh you know” he looked down.
“Oh yeah I know” I nodded
“Hey Izzy” I looked round at the group of friends standing watching and smiled as Jenna pulled up in her car back from the dentist.
“You need to meet some people” I grabbed Jamie’s hand and pulled him toward the others Landon standing right next to Ryan. Jenna got out of her car and her eyes got wide.
“You going to introduce us” Henry asked
“Guys this is Jamie my big brother”
“Hot damn” Jenna whistled and immediately turned red “Sorry” she groaned.
“This is the people who kept me sane when you decided to dump the Typhoon and go for a parachute trip” I laughed. “Jenna, Henry. Ryan and…” I hesitated at Landon “Landon” I refused to make eye contact with him.
“Nice to meet you” Ryan held out his hand “Glad you’re okay”
“You’re not the only one thanks to the Marines” Jamie smirked.
“Personally I would have left his sorry ass out there” I started to choke on my gum………………………………
