………………. The next few weeks went so fast in the run up to Prom Dad had asked Julie to marry him finally we didn’t know why he’d waited so long. Mom hadn’t called any of us so hopefully she’d taken the hint. Eli and Wes had started Baseball practice and Eli was hitting better than ever. The morning of Prom the guys actually had practice, I walked into my bedroom with my robe on and my hair wrapped in a towel Eli was lay on my bed on his phone.
“I’ll be there by 10 to collect them” he said grinning at me “Thank you” he hung up his phone and threw it on the end of the bed. “So the dress is blue right”
“Yes the dress is blue” I smiled pulling the towel from my head “You’ve asked me that every day since you thought it was pink” I picked up my brush and started to brush my hair.
“Yeah well I don’t want to screw up the flowers or the vest” he said getting up and walking behind me and sliding his hands round my waist. “And it’s not in your closet is it.
“You’ve looked” He shrugged.
“I might have taken a quick peak” he said giving me puppy dog eyes.
“I guessed you would” I laughed “so I made sure it was put well enough away that you wouldn’t find it”.
“Oh you’re such a spoilsport” he groaned.
“You have” I turned and looked at the clock “exactly 9 ½ hours till you pick m e up for dinner”
“I know but…” the door knocked and Wes put his head round the door.
“Dude we need to head for practice so put my sister down and move your ass”
“Okay I’m coming” Eli sighed kissing me “I’ll see you tonight: I nodded and watched as he walked out of the door with Wes I grabbed my jeans and one of Eli’s shirts and headed down stairs as Jordan walked in the front door.
“What you doing here you live down the road” I said opening the fridge and grabbing the orange juice.
‘Pour me one of those and I’ll tell you” he said sitting on the stool. “Where’s Wes”.
“He had baseball practice” I shrugged reaching for two glasses “And you need to make it fast as I need to pick up Libby to go get hair and stuff done for tonight”.
“Oh its Prom isn’t it” Jordan smiled “We don’t need to turn up at a restaurant tonight do we to see you dressed up again”.
No be here by 5 Rachel’s going to be” I laughed.
“Oh you tell her but you don’t tell your brother” he said teasing me.
“That’s because I like her” I said giving him the finger “Now hurry up and tell me I need to go get pretty”.
“Crap I didn’t know you were going in for plastic surgery” he chuckled.
“I can hit you because I haven’t got my nails done yet” I said tipping my head and looking at him.
“Okay truce” he said holding up his hands “We’ve set a date for the wedding” I raised my eyebrows.
“You told Dad”
“I spoke to him at work last night” he nodded “But I wanted to give you guys the heads up that we’re getting married on a cruise ship”.
‘Nice idea wedding and honey moon rolled into one” I smiled “When”.
“The week after you guys are done with school” he smiled “Dad’s paying for you guys to go”.
“Oh hell yeah fun in the sun” I laughed.
“Okay what I wanted to ask is Rachel’s parents are picking up the rest of the tab as she’s their only daughters so they offered to pay for you and Wes to bring someone along”
“Cool so that means I can ask Eli to come”.
“That’s where we have a slight problem” he sighed putting his glass down “They are so old fashioned where relationships are concerned that the only way they allowed us to move in together was they thought we were sharing separate rooms” I started to choke on my drink “Don’t ask they’re naive as well” he smirked.
“So why don’t I ask Libby to come with me and Wes can ask Eli” I shrugged.
“I like your thinking sis that’s what Rachel was suggesting as well” he nodded getting off the stool “Talk to Libby and Eli and let me know by tomorrow” I nodded “I’ll see you later I have to go cook breakfast for my girl” he headed for the door “we’ll see you guys later”.
“Okay, hey Jordan you need to be nice to me or I can tell your future in-laws about what you guys did on that camping trip” I laughed picking up my purse and my keys and following him out of the door.
“Don’t please” he said shaking his head he leant on the door of my car and looked at me and sighed. “They had a hard time when they heard about the court case with you and Sam” I looked at him “The fact you had gone with him and the things that happened” I looked down. “We had a huge fight about it and Rachel told them that it was none of their business and either they dealt with it or they wouldn’t see her again”.
“This is really going to haunt me for the rest of my life isn’t it?” I said running my fingers through my hair, Jordan shrugged.
“Probably” he sighed “But we’ll always be there for you”, I nodded.
‘I know” I put my arms round him and hugged him. “As long as they don’t say something to me I’ll be good”.
“Oh believe me I think if they do say something then Rachel will be the first person to throw them overboard” he laughed. “I’ll see you later” he let go of me and walked to his truck and got in. I opened the door of my car and got in and turned it on, today was supposed to be fun but that had brought me crashing back down……………………………..
