.............................. We meet up with Trent’s friends and his girlfriend Leah in a club that was on the beach front.
“Reminds me of Mexico” he said in my ear.
“I was thinking the same thing” I laughed “I remember what happened the night I wore this as well” I said sticking out my tongue.
“So do I. I think the scratch marks have only just gone now” he laughed.
“I thought you were going to drop me” I laughed.
“Never” he said kissing my nose “And I think I had a good hold of you that night anyway”.
“Hey stop hogging your girl” Leah said pushing in between us “I need to get to know my future cousin-in-law, Come on Autumn let’s leave these guys to it and go dance” She looked at me “You do dance don’t you”.
“Oh Autumn has been known to move a little” Drew winked. Leah took my hand and pulled me on to the dance floor.
“So are you going to college as well when you move down here” Leah asked.
‘No I was hoping to get a job somewhere and then maybe se about college next year” I said as we pushed our way across the dance floor.
“Cool I dropped out of college I couldn’t hack it” she smiled “Now I work for Trent’s Dad in the office”.
“Keep it in the family” I laughed we got in to the middle of the floor and started to dance.
“Damn you should get a job dancing in here” Leah laughed.
‘Yeah that leads to trouble believe me” I said ……..
…………………..“Trent” Drew and Trent looked round as two guys walked over to them Trent hugged both of them “Didn’t think you we’re coming tonight thought you had family blowing through”.
“Meet Drew my cousin” Trent grinned “Drew meet Chase and Billy”
“You’re the guy moving down here right” Chase asked Drew.
“Second week in June” Drew nodded.
“Excellent” Billy smiled.
“Whose the girl with Leah on the floor” Chase asked Trent “and do you think I should go tapped it”.
“Probably not a good idea” Trent laughed as Drew looked at him.
“Why dancing on the floor with no guy makes her fair game” Billy said taking a drink from his beer.
“Not when her boyfriend is sitting right here” Drew smiled. Billy held up his hands.
“Sorry”
“It’s okay but that’s Autumn my girlfriend” Drew said getting up “And if dancing without a guy makes here fair game then I’d better go dance with her”.
‘Wait up I’ll come as well” Trent laughed following Drew on to the floor. “Hey they won’t try anything now they know she’s with you”.
“I know” Drew said looking at him “but how many other guys won’t give a shit”.
“Okay point taken” I felt a hand flat on my stomach pulling me against a hard body.
“You know my boyfriend will get pissed if he sees this” I grinned.
“I’ll kick his ass” Drew said in my ear.
“Oh really that would be something to watch” I turned round in his arm his hand now in the middle of me back holding me too him “I love you”
“Good because you’re stuck with me” he said kissing me. We danced till the palace closed we walked out as the sun was coming up I kicked off my shoes.
“That was a fun night” Leah said yawning and looking at her watch “5.30 Damn I have to be in the office in two hours”.
‘its okay I know the boss” Trent smiled.
“No we have a huge customer coming in” she groaned pulling her car keys from her purse “Love you and see you later” she said kissing Trent. “Autumn I’ll see you guys as well” I nodded leaning on Drew.
“You tired” he said putting his arm round me.
“A little” I sighed as we walked over to Trent’s car I put my hand over my mouth. “Your Mom wanted to talk to me this morning”.
‘Yeah and” Trent said starting the car.
“Look at me”.
“You look hot” Drew said stretching.
“You‘d think I look hot if I’d been rolling round in mud” I laughed.
“Only if you were with another girl and you were in Bikini’s Trent laughed as Drew high fived him.
‘Oh god what’s it going to be like when Matt’s here with you two as well I groaned.
“I think you’ll find that’s called a blast” Drew sniggered.
‘Yeah well thank god for B and Leah” I said closing my eyes. “Oh we still need to convince her parents”.
Leah parents you’ve never met them” Trent added.
‘No my brother’s girlfriend’s parents we need to convince them to let her come down here to college” I sighed.
We pulled up at the house and walked inside as Joe walked down the stairs and looked at his watch and shook his head laughing.
“I take it Leah is going to be a little tired at work today” Joe asked as we followed him into the kitchen.
“Maybe” Trent smiled walking over to the coffee pot and filling 4 cups and handing on to each of us. “Don’t be too rough on her”.
“I won’t can’t scare of the future Mrs. Harper” Joe laughed Joe and I both looked at Trent.
“Don’t push it Dad” Trent groaned “we need to find a place to live first considering these guys have taken the beach house” he laughed.
‘Hey don’t blame your cousin for getting in while you messed around making your mind up” Joe smiled as Tori walked in yawning and scratching her head.
“Hey Princess” Joe said lifting her on to the counter and kissing her “You’re coming to the office with your brother later okay”.
“Sure Daddy” She yawned again looking round here little eyes lighting up when she saw Drew.
“Hey Trouble you want to go swimming later” Drew asked her.
‘I’m not trouble” she said shaking her fist at him “And yes I’ll go swimming later” she nodded as Cassie walked in.
“You guys just getting in” She asked as Joe kissed her.
‘Yep” Drew said wrapping his hands round the cup “Someone made us dance all night” he looked at me.
“Hey don’t blame me for it” I laughed.
“Autumn you want to take bring your coffee outside on the patio” Cassie said as Trent poured a cup for his Mom.
“Yeah sure” I nodded picking up my cup and following her outside. We both sat at the table the cool late spring breeze making e shiver a little.
“You look like I’m going to eat you” Cassie laughed.
“I feel like you’re going to give me the sort of talk a Dad normally gives a guy dating his daughter” I smiled picking up my coffee and taking a drink.
“I know you’re not going to hurt Drew I can see that in you” she laughed shaking her head. “But I do want to talk to you about when you move down here”
“I promise I’ll be working to help pay bills” I said a little defensively she leaned across the table and put her hand over mine.
“Honey I’m on your side” she smiled “I talked it over with Joe at dinner last night and I need someone to help me with work” I looked at her as she leaned back in the seat “the summer is one of my busiest times I know I have 14 weddings from the beginning of June to the middle of September as well as a few other parties” she took a drink. “If you want to help plan some things with me and help me out on the days then you have a job waiting for you I won’t be offended if you want to say no and you want to find something for yourself down here but it really is about time you had someone willing to give you a break on life at least for a while” she sighed “It’s not a pity offer so don’t think of it like that like I said yesterday I see a lot of me in you when I was your age and I always I wasn’t going to stand by and watch crap happen if I could do something about it”
“Wow… I don’t know what to say… You’ve shocked me” I stammered
“Look think about it it’s pretty cool job well I think it is” she laughed “Let me know okay, talk it over with Drew or your brother” she stood up “I’d better get dressed I have a wedding to do today” she walked back into the house leaving me sitting out by the pool.
Was this really happening to me, 12 months ago I was at the end of a long dark tunnel with no light at the end of it I was waking up and surviving not living just going through the motions then Drew came along and it really was as if Mom had sent him to look after me and make everything right again… I didn’t even notice I was crying till the tears rolled down my cheeks and hit the glass of the table,
‘Hey Autumn” Trent called from the door “Wow have you seen those 2 dragonflies over the pool”……………..
