………………. “Wow that is so pretty” Leah sighed as Matt opened the note.
“You want me to read this” he asked, I nodded not taking my eyes from the box I ran my fingers over the necklace. I heard Matt take a deep breath.
Autumn,
I can’t believe that today is your wedding day, I know it seems strange as I’m writing this to you you’re 13 years old and running round playing soccer at every chance you get you’re even letting your cheer practice slip. I think the inner tomboy is winning out, but whatever you put your mind you seem to conquer and become so good at and I know that you will become the wife ever guy wants.
I know if this guy has managed to get past your Dad and your Brother then he must be the right guy for you.
Never let anyone get the better of you or take advantage of you honey be the woman I know you are and make the best out of everything life throws at you. We will always be by your side no matter how old you are and how far apart we get we all sleep under the same sky and look at the same sun so the distance will never be too far.

The tears splashed on the backs of my hands as Matt finished reading his voice losing it at the end. I looked up at him as the tears rolled down his cheeks. Leah got up and walked quietly from the room closing the door behind her.
“Oh it hurts” Matt said letting out a huge sigh “I knew it was going to be tough but I miss them still so much” I put the box on the bed and stood up and pulled him up I put my arms round him unable to say anything he wrapped his arms round me and we both stood silently crying.
“Like she said” I sniffed finally getting control of my voice again “all the angels will be watching”.
“I know” Matt nodded wiping his eyes “and they’ll be right there on the front row”.
“I’m glad they didn’t do my make up yet” I said taking a deep breath “Thank you for making me open it”.
“It needed to be done” he shrugged handing me the note “Love you Sis” he turned and walked out of the room. I followed him the others all looked at us “see you later” he left.
“Everything okay” Becca asked. I handed her the note.
“Everything will be” I nodded.
“Go wash your face and come back and have a coffee before you get your makeup done” Cassie said rubbing my back I nodded B followed me.
“You know we’re all here for you don’t you”.
“I know I think it had just started to sink in that I was getting married and then Matt brings me the box and I realized who wasn’t going to be here” I shrugged.
“You know they’ll be watching” she grinned “Let’s just hope they leave before the wedding night”. I swatted her laughing. “Maggie and Luke are here as well you know”.
“Where” I said washing my face.
“Maggie was coming down as soon as she’s got changed” B said handing me a towel. “Who’d have thought it” she sighed as we went back out in to the other room.
“Thought what”
“Everything that’s happened in the past year” she smiled taking a cup of coffee from Becca and handing it to me as Maggie walked in grinning
“What we doing recapping” she laughed hugging me “I’m so glad today is here I didn’t know how I could keep quiet much longer”.
“They were just saying about everything that’s gone on in the last year” Leah said sitting down.
“It’s been crazy” Maggie nodded.
“Yeah drink, drugs, rape, getting friends back along with my brother, finding Drew, a trial, dad’s death, prom, graduation, moving here, a wedding, a job, a pregnancy and finally my wedding I said staring out of the window” Cassie whistled.
“Well I think you deserve a good time today” she smiled putting her arm round me and hugging me.
“I’d better go get my makeup done then” I sighed putting down the cup……………….
………………….. Matt walked back in to the other room Drew looked up from where he was sitting on the couch.
“How’d it go” he asked as Luke sat down next to him.
“She opened it” matt sighed as Mike handed him a shot of brandy. “I read the note out to her that was with the gift” he knocked back the drink and coughed as it burned on the way down. “it hit both of us that they won’t be around when big things happen” he shrugged “and it made me think they won’t be there to see their first grandkid” Mike put his hand on Matt’s shoulder.
“You guys know they be watching over everything that happens to you” he said Matt nodded.
“I know, and I think with guys like you and Becca and Joe and Cassie around then they’ll have sort of grandparents” Matt nodded.
“Exactly substitutes” Drew laughed. “Is Autumn okay”.
“Yeah” he nodded “You’d better start to get ready” Drew got up and walked into the bathroom…………..
