………………. I walked in to the house Mom and Aunt Dannie were sitting giggling on the couch.
“And here comes the prize fighter” Aunt Dannie smiled I laughed and shook my head
“I didn’t fight I just argued”.
“The way Dawn calls it, it was a good Job Ry and Ben were there to stop you going in for the kill” Mom laughed, I put my bag down and sat on the other couch.
“That guy was a total idiot he was trying to blame you and Dad for what happened to Joey” I explained “Then he started to call out the Marines so I told them that My Dad was a bigger man then they’d ever be and I would take down any one that knocks the marines”.
“And that’s why we love you honey” Mom smiled“You’re Dad is hoping to call tonight Toby called Dannie yesterday and passed on a message I think you should tell him about it he’ll get a kick out of it”
‘Where are the boys” I asked getting up
“Ollie is seeing his girlfriend and Nick called round to see one of his friends” Mom said as she and Aunt Dannie went back to looking through some old photos.
“Urghhh is jack ass still seeing her” Mom looked at me.
“Your brother has a name Tess” Mom chastised.
“Yeah Jack ass by name jack ass by nature” I dropped a kiss on her cheek “just be thankful I’m being lady like when I talk about him” I walked up to my room and started to unpack my things I heard the phone ring my stomach doing flips 10 minutes later Mom appeared in the door way looking so happy.
“Yeah she’s here and the boys are just coming in. I love you so much Logan” she sighed “Miss you, stay safe Marine”, she handed me the phone with a wink.
Me * hey Dad.
Dad * I was hoping you’d be home baby girl.
Me * got in about 30 minutes ago.
Dad * so you had a run in with Jake did you.
Me * oh yeah, jerk.
Dad * I love you Tess; you’re a total Marine kid.
Me * damn right… everything okay there.
Dad * yeah honey its good thanks for the photos they were really good.
Me * I’ll send some from this past weekend they took us snowmobiling.
Dad * awesome, everything good with you and Ben.
Me * couldn’t be better, it’s everyone else that’s screwing up.
Dad * like who, come on Tess fill the old guy in.
Me * you’re not that old remember… No Skye and Justin have broken up, She’s dating a guy and won’t tell me who it is, Justin is about to be ripped apart.
Dad * by who and why?
Me * Ben and I found him in bed with Katie.
Dad * she’s 14, you need to tell Mac.
Me * that what you think we should do.
Dad * damn right Tess you really need to ask.
Me * don’t yell at me.
Dad * I’m sorry Baby girl but she’s 14 and he’s 18 that’s wrong.
Me * okay Nick and Jack ass are waiting here to talk to you.
Dad * you and Ollie fighting that’s not like you two.
Me * yeah well jack ass doesn’t understand what loyalty means.
I looked at Ollie he shook his head and flicked me the finger.
Me * I’ll let you and these guys talk love you Dad stay safe, miss you.
Dad * love you too Baby girl, miss you.
I handed the phone to Ollie. I sat on my bed and sighed.
“Good weekend” Nick said leaning on the door frame, I nodded.
“Rylan sent you some stuff” I threw him a package.
“Why are you so pissed with Ollie” Nick said moving my things and sitting on my bed.
“Because of the cow he’s dating” I sighed hanging up my dress.
“Meg” Nick looked at me I nodded. “She seems okay”.
“Yeah she was Lilly’s best friend and I had enough crap from her over Ben” I shrugged.
“Oh come on Tess Lilly’s gone you and Ben are together” he smiled pulling out a packer jersey covered in signatures “Jeez I love my god father” I sat down next to him.
“I can’t get past the things she and Lilly used to do and say” I sighed flopping back.
“Like what”
“That they wanted to try out Dad and Uncle T in bed” Nick started to laugh “Hey it’s not funny, it’s gross actually” I pulled a face “and my name wasn’t much liked and she actually accused Mom and Uncle Adam of screwing round behind Dads back before he came home last time”. Nick raised his eyebrows. “And you want me to lighten up, never going to happen” I shrugged as Ollie appeared in the door.
“Sure Dad Love you miss you, be safe” Ollie held the phone out to Nick he got up and took it across to his room Ollie stood looking at me.
“Here from Rylan” I threw him a package like Nicks he caught it.
“I just got 100 questions from Dad about why I was disloyal” he said.
“All you need to say was I’m sleeping with a bitch that made my sisters life hell” I smirked “I think that would have covered it”.
“Megan said she didn’t mean any of it Lilly was the one saying most of it” Ollie whined.
‘Ollie Lilly might have said most of it but Megan said some things all on her own without the puppet master working her from behind” I shrugged “I’m done dealing with both of them, and the sooner you get the whole I’m screwing a senior thing out of you system the better, I love you but at the moment I don’t really like you”.
“So that’s it you’ll have a temper tantrum because you just hold a grudge” Ollie said shaking his head. “It’s alright for you and Ben to be together but no one else, your bitching and moaning about Me and Megan, You yelled at Katie over Justin, Who else do you want to dig at sis”.
“I will stand up for what I think is right the same way we’ve all been brought up” I said squaring up to him“I don’t think Megan is a good person and isn’t someone I think is good enough for my knuckle headed brother, and the whole Justin and Katie thing is wrong he’s been screwing her since the summer behind my best friends back while pretending everything is just fine and the fact it’s classed as raped does that not even enter into your head she’s 14 and his best friends sister”.
“Dad and Mom hooked up and Uncle Toby didn’t mind” Ollie said grasping at straws for some reasoning.
“Mom had graduated from high school and was heading to college she was 18 Uncle Toby really didn’t have much say” I held out my hands and turned and walked away from him “Ollie do whatever you want, date whoever you want, you obviously don’t want to listen to what I’m saying so have at it, go enjoy yourself from now on I’ll keep my mouth shut okay” he nodded and turned and walked to his room Aunt Dannie knocked on the door frame.I smiled at her she came in and sat on the bed.
“We could hear you and Ollie downstairs” She said “It’s not easy having two brothers take it from a girl that’s been there”
“I guess I’m being overprotective aren’t I” I sighed.
“No, they do exactly the same to you don’t they” I nodded “Tess Ollie just needs to work things out for himself he’s always been the quietest out of the three of you, now he’s just trying to grow up and be Ollie”.
“I know but he’s still a jack ass” I grinned she hugged me “He’s exactly the same way Logan was at his age, Logan might have been the big jock but he made some really crappy girl choices”.
“Hey I heard that” Mom said walking in.
“I hadn’t finished” Dannie smirked “And I was talking about when he was 16” Mom handed me a drink. “I remember he brought home this one girl she thought she was the greatest thing walking the earth and he followed her round like a puppy till he found her round the back of the house with his friend let’s just say she had a mouthful”.
“Ewwwww Dannie” Mom groaned I screwed up my face and started laughing.
“What she was kissing the guy” Mom swatted her.
“Hey nothing like when you wearing Logan’s Dress cap and not a lot…” Mom cut her off.
“Thank you for that but I don’t think Tess needs to find out those sort of things” Mom laughed turning red. “What’s wrong with Ben’s sister by the way”?
“Nothing it doesn’t matter” she narrowed her eyes and looked at me “She’s been having sex” Mom’s mouth fell open.
“Tess who knows about this” Mom said becoming serious.
“Me, Ben, you and Dad” I said looking down “And Ollie and Nick”.
“Who’s the guy” I sighed knowing this was not going to end pretty “Tess” she said more firmly.
“It was Justin” Ollie said from the door, I looked at him mom looked at me.
“Skye’s boyfriend Justin” I nodded she got up.
“Mom where are you going” I said.
“I need to go see Jess” she said grabbing her jacket from her bed.
“Mom you’ll cause trouble” Ollie called after her.
“I would want someone to tell me if my 14 year old was having sex with a guy” she opened the front door I grabbed my phone as Aunt Dannie ran out after Mom.
“Who you calling” Ollie said as Nick walked up.
“I’m going to give Ben the heads up”. I said shaking my head.
Ben * hey sexy.
Me * listen to me is your Mom and Dad at home.
Ben * no they just left for dinner.
Me * my mom over heard me and jack ass arguing and she’s found out about Justin and Katie I’m so sorry.
Ben* oh god is she on her way here.
Me * yeah she left a couple of minutes ago.
Ben * okay, I’ve been and seen Justin by the way.
Me * I bet that wasn’t pretty.
Ben * no he got his ass kicked. Oh I’ll tell you more tomorrow at school your Mom just pulled up
Me * okay love you.
Ben * love you too.
He hung up and opened the door as Mom knocked.
“Hi Ben, I know Tess will have called you” he nodded “You need to tell your Mom and Dad”.
“I know but I want to give Katie the chance to stay away from him before I do” he sighed “She’s scared”.
“Ben your best friend slept with your baby sister”; “Mom said looking at him.
“Oh don’t worry I’ve already been and seen him and told him if he comes near her I’ll go straight to the M.P’s” Ben shrugged “And I got in a couple of good punches he‘ll think twice before he touches Katie or slaps Tess again”.
‘Whoa back up” Mom said with her hands on her hips “He hit Tess” Ben nodded.
“He slapped her round the face” he groaned Mom took a deep breath “Amber she was and is fine and like I said I took care of it” Mom smiled at Ben,
“You sound like Logan” she sighed. “Okay I’ll give you and Katie the chance okay, because I believe you will go to the police if Justin comes around her again, but don’t let me down”.
“I won’t I promise” Ben smiled…………………………..
…………………….The next couple of month flew by Justin even dropped out of football and avoided Ben at every chance he got, Katie stayed away from anything where Justin was going to be, Ollie and Megan were still dating which still drove me insane but I promised him I’d keep my mouth shut and I did.
I walked in to the library and dumped down in the chair next to Skye.
“Oh you look happy” she smirked.
“it’s been one of those days lets’ put it like that” I shrugged.
“You and Ben fighting” she asked.
“Oh god no” I said looking at her “Debbie was listening to a conversation between Megan and that new girl Ali in math this morning talking about Ollie”.
“You said you weren’t going to get involved” she said pointing her pen at me.
“I know” I shrugged “she’s is trying to get Ali to hookup with Nick just because she knows it will piss me off and guess who’s coming here for spring break”.
“You’ve got to be kidding Nick won’t go for her she’s not his type, and Lilly is coming back” I nodded and dropped my head down on the desk. “Oh that blows” she groaned “Ben know”.
“Yep he’s just gone to practice and he’s pissed” I looked at her “You want to go to town and shop for prom it’s only 4 weeks away” I don’t think I’d finished the sentence before her books were in her bag and she was stood up. “I take that as a yes” I grinned.
“Oh yeah” she linked my arm as we went out to the parking lot.
“So are you and your still a mystery guy going to be going together” I said opening the door to my truck we got in.
“I don’t know”. She shrugged “What sort of dress are you looking for”.
“Why do you always change the subject when I bring him up” I grinned ‘What does he look like the elephant man or something”.
“No it’s awkward that’s all”.
“You didn’t get back with Justin at some point did you”.
“Hell no, look it’s complicated”.
“OMG it’s a married guy”.
“Tess no jeez after what happened to my parents no way, just let it go”.
“Fine but I think Gabe has been wanting to ask you” she smiled and shook her head.
“Any news on when hot Dad gets home” I looked at her. “Sorry when does your Dad get back”.
“The date he’s been given is 3 days after graduation” I felt a lump in my throat she leaned over and squeezed my arm.
“That’s not fair” she said .
“I guess it’s just what happens” I pulled up outside the dress store “Come on lets go have a laugh and try on some cheesy dresses before we look for the good ones, I have 2 hours before I have to pick Ben up”………………………….
