April 14, 2008
I woke up the next morning. I looked around the room. It was pretty nice. The walls were royal blue and the wood trimming was white. My eyes fell on the chair beside the cream colored couch I was laying on. There was a dirty blonde haired boy lying on the chair. To me, he didn’t look any older then eighteen. His eyes fluttered open. He looked over at me and gave me a big smile. “Hey Cinderella you’re finally awake.” I blushed. I did look a little like Cinderella, except for having silver hair. My blood, if I had any in me, suddenly ran cold. I was inside a Human’s house. I had never been around anyone but my family, Daniel, and Alex. So, I frowned. “Why did you run away from the ball? Was your Prince Charming a frog?”
I laughed again. “It wasn’t a ball I ran away from. I ran away from my wedding.” The boy frowned at me and then smiled.
“So you aren’t Cinderella?” I smiled.
“Nope, I’m Kairi”
“Well if you aren’t Cinderella, you must be an angel.”
“I’m far from that.”
“Okay Kairi, what did you run away from? Better yet, why did you run away?” I cringed. I couldn’t tell him I was a Vampire. Not yet anyways.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” He nodded.
“I understand.” He stood up and ran his fingers through his hair. “Maybe I should introduce myself.” I giggled.
“Well my name is Kairi Robinson. But I already told you the Kairi part.” I held out my hand to him. He didn’t take it after awhile. I let my arm sink back down to my side.
“I’m Kataro Ishiyama. I’m seventeen.”
“Sixteen.” Kataro whistled.
“That is pretty young to get married.” I blushed.
“Yeah…I guess. Can we not talk about it?”
“Okay. No questions asked. Gottcha. Are you hungry? I can make eggs.” I opened my mouth to protest but my stomach spoke for me. He turned around and walked out into the kitchen. “How do you like you eggs Kairi?” I thought a moment.
“Scrambled please.” I decided at last.
“Cool. Can you hand me those black glasses on the stand next to the chair? Thanks.” I stood up and walked over to the stand and picked them up. Then I walked out to the kitchen. I handed them to Kataro. “Thanks.” He took them from me and put them on his face.
“He looks absolutely…wow” I thought. I looked at him closely. Kataro I had to admit was cute. He was wearing black sweat pants and a white muscle tank top.I walked back out into the living room and sat on the couch. I then noticed the bottom of my white dress was ripped and muddy.
“Hey Kairi I laid out a pair of black sweat pants and a black tank top in the bathroom down the hall if you want to change out of that dress. Oh and that backpack that was on your back is in the bathroom too. I didn’t go through it or anything.” I smiled and stood up.
“Thanks. Can I get a shower too?” I called out to him.
“Sure,” was his reply, “the towels are in the cabinet under the sink. The bathroom is down the hall to the left.” I got off the cream colored couch and walked down the hall and opened the door on the left and walked into it. I closed the door behind me and locked it. I wasn’t sure what Kataro was like so I couldn’t be too careful. The bathroom wasn’t that special. It was your basic blue tiled, white walled bathroom. On the sink I saw, as promised, a pair of black sweatpants and a black tank top. I bent over and grabbed the hem of my skirt. Then I pulled it up over my head and took it off. I looked in the mirror. The half dressed girl, that was me, was unrecognizable. My silver hair was all tangled into knots, my knees were mud stained and my violet eyes looked wide with fright. I looked like a wreck. I walked over to the tub and turned the hot water knob on. I slipped my bra over my head and I slipped my underwear off and sat in the tub. The hot water felt nice on my skin. I took a bar of soap that was on the edge and started scrubbing myself. I started with my muddy knees. After my body was scrubbed clean of all dirt, I picked up a shampoo bottle and squirted some in my hair. It smelled manly. Like Axe. Like some Alex would wear. Alex. I scrubbed the shampoo into my hair and then I put my head under the faucet. I wouldn’t think of Alex at all. After I got all the shampoo out of my hair, I turned off the faucet.
I stepped out of the tub and grabbed the towel that was on top of the toilet lid. I dried off my body and put my bra and underwear back on. I picked up the pair of sweatpants and slid into them. They fit perfectly. I picked up the tank top and slip it over my head. I looked in the mirror and noticed I was still wearing my necklace. I studied myself a little closer. I looked cleaner but there was still something missing. Alex.
No. No. That wasn’t it. My skin was still pale. I was still a Hemophage. A Vampire. A monster. I knew I had to get away from this Human. Even if he was cute, I couldn’t risk falling in love with him. I needed to remember my mission. I needed to find a Werewolf and fall in love with him. Then he must fall in love with me. Someone knocked on the door snapping me out of my trance.
“Hello? Are you almost done cute new girl?” It was a male’s voice but it wasn’t Kataro.
“Cameron! Don’t frighten her!” It was defiantly a woman’s voice.
“Yes. I’m done. I’m coming out.” I grabbed the rubber band that was lying on the counter and tied my hair back. I walked over to the door and unlocked it. I opened the door and walked back into the hallway. Staring back at me was a boy that looked two years younger then Kataro. His hair was auburn and his eyes were a hypnotizing emerald green.
“H…h…hi!” I squeaked. The boy just raised an eyebrow at me. “My name is Kairi Rosella Robinson. I’m sixteen. What’s your name?” The boy gave me an odd look. Then he broke out into a grin. His emerald green eyes seemed to twinkle. His hair was tousled red and there were flecks of brow across his nose. I safely assumed that the flecks were freckles. I studied his clothes. Like Kataro, he was wearing black sweatpants and a white muscle tank top.
