I got out of Kataro’s truck. We said our goodbyes and made plans for him to come back and pick me up in an hour. “Call me if there is any trouble,” Kataro said before driving off. I walked inside the mall and walked to the front of the movie theater. After I was standing there for a few minutes I heard footsteps behind me. I felt two little arms wrap around my waist from the behind. I turned my neck around. It was Michael. My face lit up. I looked away from him and found myself face to face with James and Jessica.
“James, Jessie, Michael, you’re all here,” I breathed the words as if I had never seen them in my entire life. Michael let go of my waist as I wrapped them all into an enormous hug. After a moment I stepped back. Jessica showed me a faded brown hardcover book in her hands.
“It’s your dream journal Kairi. Remember?” I smiled and nodded. Jessica handed me the book. I decided not to open it in front of them. An elderly lady moved past us. It was then I realized how busy the mall truly was.
“Daniel accidently saw the picture in your journal. After that he disappeared. Nobody has seen him for a day now. I thought you should know that,” James didn’t meet my eyes.
“Daniel also stole your phone and got my number,” James horrified. Michael had on a grave face.
“We’d better go James. Mom and Dad will noticed if we disappeared too. I love you Kairi,” She wrapped her arms around me in a huge hug. Michael was next.
“I love you Kairi. Come home soon!” He gave me a big hug. James stood in front of me awkwardly.
“Stay safe Kairi. Daniel could be anywhere at anytime. Please keep on your guard. I expect that boy will keep an eye on you? Good. I…I love you little sis. Please stay safe,” James gave me a short small hug.
“One more question has dad been sending me nightmares?” I asked James as I closed my eyes. He let go of me a smirked.
“So you’re getting those? He is just mad at you. They will pass,” I opened my eyes and my family was gone.

“Did you have a good family meeting?” A half an hour of mall walking later I climbed into Kataro’s truck clutching my dream journal and a bag containing a new blank journal, a set of mechanical pencils, and a set of gel pens I bought with the ten dollars of the two hundred James gave me. I strapped in and nodded.
“Yeah it was alright,” I played back in my mind how worried James looked when I told him Daniel called me. I thought it was odd that he didn’t ask for any details.
“That is great. I was thinking, how about we go home and sit for an hour then you let me take you out to dinner,” Kataro looked at me with eyes I couldn’t say no to. He turned his eyes back to the road.
“Okay why not,” I smile.
“Now to my next question what is that book?” Kataro pointed to my dream journal.
“It’s my dream journal. I used to sketch pictures of a guy I dreamt about,” I blushed. This answer seemed to satisfy Kataro.
“It’s funny. I used to have a dream girl. Every night in my dreams we would think of something different to do. After a while her visits became less frequent. Then she disappeared. I forgot what she looked like all together. With her gone I lost a part of me. A part of me that you brought back,” I looked down at my journal. I had to be alone to open it. I couldn’t let Kataro see what was inside of it. I just couldn’t. We finally reached home. Kataro walked inside and went straight to his room. I flopped on the couch. I drew in a deep breath and exhaled. I looked at my journal sitting on my lap. “It’s now or never,” I thought to myself. I opened the cover to the first page and the memories began to come right back.
