I was walking along the dock; I noticed Salice near by the water's edge. She was the last person I wanted to run into. I kept walking, hoping to avoid any conflict with her. I didn't want to get into any more trouble because of her.I already got suspended from school after I got into a fight with her. I was lucky I wasn't expelled and police weren't involved.
Salice was new to the school and from day one she was a schemer. She had a few friend's, one of them Tina. Its fair to say Tina and I don't get along really well. I found out later that Tina and Salice were going around spreading rumors that Scott was cheating on me.
The day after I heard the rumors, I confronted her in the hall. She looked with that smug expression, you just want to wipe off her face. She told me that Scott was going to be mine. I shoved her into the locker. I turned to walk away, as a group of students gathered around. Salice got up from the ground and cheap shot me in the side of the face. I turned around punched her in the face, throwing her to the ground and spat on her. A teacher broke up the fight and I was given a three day suspension and the police weren't involved, so I'd say I got off pretty good.
That night when I got home from school I got a lecture. My dad was concerned about my relationship with Scott having an affect on my school work. I admitted that it was true, because he is always on my mind. My dad never really liked Scott from the beginning, and I could tell now, he disliked him even more.
I came back to reality when Salice was walking towards me. I was foolish enough to stop walking. If I did she wouldn't have noticed me. She stopped several feet away from me.
"Tuscany, what brings you here," she asked.
"What do you want," I asked.
"Are you still pining over a man who doesn't love you."
"I don't know what you are smoking. You've known him for half a year and you suddenly know how he feels."
"He is seen with other women. They were acting more then just friends if you know what I mean."
"I don't know what you mean, because it isn't true," I was surprised at how calm I was.
"It doesn't matter either way Tuscany, because he will be mine before you know it."
"Call him. I'll even lend my phone to you so you can. You can spill your heart out to him."
"I don't need to call, because it is only a matter of time before he leaves you."
"You really don't know what you are talking about."
"Just wait and see, he will end up with me."
"For someone who is going to leave me has big plans for our future."
"Like what?"
"We are moving in together. Having a baby in seven months."
"You're pregnant,"
"You guess it."
"What if he leaves you after the baby is born?"
"That is a risk I'm willing to take. Now you wasted enough of my time. I have other things to do."
I walked away. I saw Libby running my way.
"Watch Out!" she shouted.
I fell to the ground; I didn't see it coming. I rolled onto my back; my hand going to my stomach. I looked at Salice above me, and for the first time I felt hopeless. Libby sneaked up behind Salice, pushing her down. The two of them were fighting, as police showed up. I didn't move, my whole body felt numb. I was worried something could be wrong with my baby.
A officer came to me as two went towards Libby and Salice. He looked down at me. I looked at him groggy. I could barely make out what he said.
"Salice," I said.
'What about Salice?"
"My head really hurts."
"Did something hit your head?"
"Yes," I said.
"Can you stand?" he asked. "We need you to stand so we can talk to you."
He reached out to give me a hand. I managed to sit up.
"We need a paramedic," he shouted. "Got a injured female with a piece of glass lodged into her head."
"He sat me in the back of the police car.'
"Please don't close the door," I said. "I want fresh air."
"We won't," he said. "Hold tight an ambulance will be hear shortly."
I watched as both Libby and Salice were brought over in hand cuffs. I couldn't make out what they were all saying.
The ambulance arrived minutes later, just as both Salice and Libby were released. On the way to the hospital, I felt unconscious. I woke up in the hospital. I couldn't remember why I was here. A few minutes later, I began to regain the memories of what happened prior. I remember talking with her, and I walked away. Libby was coming my way, and she yelled for me to get out of the way. I fell to the ground. Everything from there on I don't really remember. I didn't know what was going on; I didn't even know if my baby was okay. I was wondering if they charged Salice with attacking me yet or if Scott knows about this yet. He should since he is in the hospital from a brutal attack; my own father of all people. When my dad found I was pregnant; he turned into another person. He was yelling at me, and then he assaulted Scott. It wasn't pleasant and Scott remains here after two weeks. My mom wants me to forgive him; she puts up with him for reasons no one seems to know. I kept thinking of everyone, this whole situation. I went black.
I didn't want to lay in this bed any longer and Scott's room was just down the hall. When I got there I heard voices unfamiliar coming from there. I went into the patient bathroom connected to his room.
"We need to talk to Scott Rice about your relationship with Salice Maroo," the officer said. My ears perked up; maybe this will tell me what is going on.
"I don't have a relationship with her," he said.
"We believe you can help us in an investigation."
"We are investigating Salice Maroo, for aggravated assault."
"How does that have to do with me?"
"The victim is someone very close to you."
"Yes. Now tell me howTuscany knows Salice?"
"She goes to our school. She caused drama since she moved here."
"She is a nut job. She wants Tuscany and I to break up so we can be together."
"When did this all start?"
"Pretty much the day she came to the school."
"Thank you for your time Mr. Rice. We will keep in touch just in case there is any more questions we need to talk to you about." I heard them walk into the hallway. I turned my focus to the door. I heard them out into the hall.
"Something isn't right?"
"What we know for sure is Salice isn't telling us what really happened."
"The thing I find interesting is, the paramedic report says she was attack from the back. Salice told us in her report Tuscany pulled a knife on her, and was going towards her, and that is when she pulled out the glass bottle and hit her in the front."
"That just proves she is lying. We will bring her in after we have a word with Tuscany." I felt my heart pound. I had to get there before they do. As Iheard them leave down the hall. I left the bathroom. They passed my room by several meters. I didn't really want to deal with this stress yet.
I was walking down the hall towards the main lobby. I saw Libby coming down by my way. My eyes were glued on the main doors, Salice walked in. Both Salice and Libby noticed me immediately. Salice walked towards me.
"I'm sorry Tuscany," she said.
"You aren't sorry?" I said.
"I am here to tell you I was wrong?"
"Obviously you were in the wrong. You hit me with a bottle. ."
"You threatened me. You pulled out the knife."
"Whatever. Once you are put into jail I won't have to deal with you anymore."
I didn't say anymore to her as I walked away.
"Salice Maroo," I heard the same two officers say.
"Yes, what can I do for you?"
"We have to take you down to the station for questioning?"
"Why can't we talk right here?"
"Because we proof you were lying."
"I don't know what Libby told you."
"We will talk at the police station."
"We will take her down to the station, and then have a word with Tuscany."
When they left with Salice, Libby helped me back to my room; I wouldn't be surprised if the nurses came to check on me and I was gone.
