Yes, my girlfriend literally took the time to make me look stupid. It’s You’re welcome. Not Your welcome. Hmm...She is forgiven.
After all...SHE GOT A CALLBACK FOR A ROLE OF A FILM TODAY! YYYAAAYYYYYY FOR HERRRRRR!!
It’s a minor role, though. Yeah, I think I just ruined the moment...But she’s getting to play Girl In Bar #3. I wonder what Girl In Bar #1 or #2 are like! Well, she has a call back to play Girl In Bar #3. AND I, SADLY, AM NOT ALLOWED TO GO WITH HER TO TALK ABOUT THE FACT THERE ARE THREE GIRLS IN BAR!
Kai just told me there’s a fourth Girl In Bar, which I find sort of comical. FOUR characters named Girl In Bar? Gosh, Teddy Hughes, you’re not that sophisticated of a screenwriter, are you?! Just kidding, I admire you.
Wow! There’s a Guy In Bar too! Three of them actually! Wow, mankind. We are so cool as to have people with these sort of names.
I’m happy for Kai. At least one of us is-technically-employed! :)
Yesterday I went to a studio, trying to get a job. Why? I’m still unemployed, and I need to pay rent for the apartment.
Trust me when I say this: Unemployment is not fun.
You’re constantly wracking your brain for ways to save money, and-when you have a brother who’s soon headed for college-your parents can’t even help you out. Also, you have a girlfriend who has a theatrical career that hasn’t even gone far yet and you’re praying both of you will be able to pay taxes! See my point? Unemployment is not fun.
And for a twenty three year old who majored in film production, the basis of my days will be unemployed days. How fun...
My older sister, Eliza, came to the apartment today while Kai was out. Eliza majored in medicine, like our parents wanted. Apparently Charles and didn’t come out as expected, having refused going to med school.
Since she just got to New York City to see the new apartment, I showed her the apartment, and then we went out into Time Square. We saw Wicked, had lunch, and crashed Kai’s audition. I was able to tell it was her when she was belting a note.
Eliza then talked to me about how difficult it is to remember how to be organized while she’s working where she is. Everyone else is so unorganized, you can’t help but do the same. Her husband tries to help (James is a surgeon. They met in med school, which my parents were jumping for joy over. Meanwhile, they had strange feelings when they met my girlfriend. What is it with them and people who aren’t in the medical field?), but he ends up becoming unorganized as well.
Eliza started yelling at me about my life, too. She told me that I shouldn’t be ‘wasting my time’ on film. I told her to shut the hell up, and we got into a huge argument. Kai broke up the argument by smirking and saying “Hey, Eliza, ya know, Ander’s been working to write a script! It’s pretty good. Wanna read it?” to which I blushed and tried to cover up. Who would want their sister reading the sucky screenplay you attempted to write?
After that, my girlfriend and my sister just went into my stuff and read the screenplay. It was stupid, though. The plot’s everywhere, the dialogue is grimy, and the characters suck. Being my sister, Eliza told me it was really good.
And being my girlfriend, Kai said “That’s what I keep telling him!”
Yeah...Beginning to see reasons to miss sharing a house with other guys who don’t read the things I write. Jeez, if the rest of my life is going to be like this, how will I manage!?
I guess I’ll have Kai with me. She’s awesome and we’ll get through this Unemployment stage. We’ll be okay.
I hope.
