Chapter 3

I walked out and there was guess who was standing against his car. Jack! Won’t he give up?

“Selene please talk to me,” he said and walked to me. I kept walking away. “Please!” he begged I turned around and faced him.

“What?!” I yelled.

“Please come with me!”

“Where?”

“Just out. We won’t go to school you won’t have to worry about that today. Trust me everything will be ok.” he promised and held out his hand. I hesitated. “Trust me.” he said.

“Ok,” I said and then took his hand and he led me to the passenger side of his car. I got in and put on my seatbelt. He quickly got into his car and started it. And then we sped down the street.

“Where are we going?” I asked him.

“Somewhere I found awhile ago.” he said and then we pulled up to a forest path. He got out and walked to my side and opened up the door for me. I unbuckled my seat and then I got out. He took my hand and then we walked into the forest. We walked for a little bit but then I heard a stream. I let go of Jack’s hand and walked faster than him until I saw a stream. I was shocked at how beautiful it was. My jaw dropped. I couldn’t even take in how beautiful it was. There was a pond that was shining in the sun. There were water lillies in it. Around it were so many different kind of flowers.

“You like it?” Jack asked me.

“Like it? I love it!” I said and he chuckled. I walked over and sat next to the pond and Jack sat next to me. I looked at the pond while Jack looked at me. I looked at him and smiled. He didn’t smile. “What’s the matter?” I asked him.

“Why didn’t you come with me last night?” he asked.

“I don’t know. If my dad would of found out that I was gone who knows what would of happened,” I whispered.

“Can you tell me what happened to make your dad like that?” he asked.

“I’m not sure you can handle it.” I whispered.

“I can,” he said.

“Ok, you asked for it.” I said and then took in an intake of breath. “Well it all started when I was 10. My mom put me to bed and read me a story. When she got done I was asleep. She walked out and I woke up to screaming. I didn’t know what was happening so I walked out there. And I saw my dad beating my mom. I tried to stop him but he just pushed me off of him. But then I watched him kill my mom. I tried so hard to make her wake up but she didn’t.” I said as the tears flowed down my face. “My dad walked out of the room with a knife. At first I thought he was going to kill me but he just slit her throat and put her hand prints all over it. He told me that I better never talk about it that she commited ‘suicide’ he said. But then the cops came and he told the story.” I said. “And now it has been worse everyday since it happened.” I said and then tears kept coming down.

“Oh, Selene.” Jack said and tried to hold me in his arms. I moved backwards. The tears kept coming down. “Please trust me.”

“How can I? What if your like everyone else and beat me?” I asked him.

“I could never do that to you!” he said. “You just have to trust me.” he said.

“I don’t think I can.” I whispered.

“Please.” he begged and reached out with his hands. I stared at them and then took them. He pulled me into a hug. I clung to his shirt and cried, and cried hard. He held onto me tighter. I never wanted to leave him. I closed my eyes, and then I opened them.

“Can I trust you? And don’t freak out or anything.” I said.

“You can trust me.” he said. I pulled back and then I pulled off my shirt so he could see the bruises. He gasped when he saw them.

“That’s not even half of it.” I said and took the wrap off my stomach and then I rolled up my jeans as far as they would go. He started to run his hands over them and I tried my hardest not to pull back. He scared me when he ran his hands up and down my skin.

But then all of a sudden he pulled back and made a fist. I thought he was going to hit me so I quickly moved back against a tree.

“Selene wait no, I wasn’t going to hit you,” he said.

“Liar! Get away from me! I should of never trusted you!” I screamed to him.

“Selene please I could never hurt you even if my life depended on it.” he said. “I love you!” he blurted.

“How can you love someone that you almost hurt?” I said. I was so confused. Jack started to move closer to me but I just moved into the tree more.

“Please believe me.” he begged. He was on his hands and knees now.

“I don’t think I can.” I whispered. But then there was a breeze. I saw him stiffen and his eyes went blood red. “Oh my God!” I yelled.

“Selene don’t be afraid please.” he begged. He squeezed his eyes shut. I soon saw him open up his eyes and they were blue again.

“What are you!?” I yelled.

“I’m not what you think I am,” he whispered.

“Then what are you?” I asked lowering my voice.

“Do you trust me?” he asked, and then he stood up.

“I trust you,” I said and then stood up. He ran over to me and I didn’t even see him, he picked me up in his arms and ran. I clung to his neck and closed my eyes.

“Selene you can open your eyes,” Jack whispered. We were back at the car. The two hour walk and we got back in five minutes.

“What? How? What’s going on!?” I yelled.

“Selene,” he said.

“What?”

“I’m a vampire.” I stared at him in disbelief. He set me down.

“Your lying!” I yelled.

“I’m not lying, didn’t I just prove that I wasn’t lying?” he said.

“Well, vampires don’t exist. There mythical creatures.” I said.

“You got to believe me. I am.”

“Your crazy.”

“How can I prove it?” he said.

 “Show me your fangs.” I said.

“Ok,” he said and then he smiled. I didn’t see anything at first but I saw something come out of his gums and go over his teeth.

“Holy shit! How did you do that?”

“I told you I’m a vampire. And so is the rest of my family.” he said.

“Liar!” I screamed.

“I’m not fucking lying Selene!” he yelled. “You have to believe me!” I was shocked by his outburst. He has never yelled at me. I looked down and I felt the tears go down my cheeks. “Selene I’m sorry but it’s the truth.” he said.

“I don’t care,” I mumbled.

“Don’t care what?”

“What you are,” I said a little louder.

“You don’t care that I could be a murder?”

“No, I’m just happy that you’re here with me right now.” I said and wrapped my arms around his neck. He wrapped his arms around my waist and held me tighter to him. The tears were coming out of my eyes but then we heard someone behind us. I quickly turned around with my arms still around Jack. His arms tensed.

“Well isn’t this sweet.” the guy said. He had long brown hair that was in a pony tail and big red eyes. He was wearing a black shirt and ratty old jeans. He was handsome but not as handsome as Jack.

“What do you want?” Jack asked putting me behind him.

“Well, I want you to share your snack.” he said. I cringed.

“She is not a snack.” Jack hissed.

“Your saving a human. How lovely.” he said. But then I heard people behind me. I turned around and Rose, Cody, and Cameron were all standing there.

“Take her,” Jack said and Rose came over and grabbed my arm.

“No,” I said and took his hand.

“You have to. I’ll be back I promise.” he said.

“Ok,” I said.

“Ahh, young love.” he said.

“What do you want?” Cameron asked.

“Well I was in the neighborhood and I wanted to see who was worth killing,” he said and looked at me again. Rose took my hand.

“Do you mind?” she asked.

“No,” I said and then she picked me up and she started to run. I kept my eyes open the whole time. But when she stopped we were in front of a two story house. It was red with brick.

“Where are we?” I asked her.

 

“Our house.” she said and then she sat me down. I heard vicious growls and I cringed back. “It’s ok, come on.” she said she took my hand and then we walked inside. We were greeted by two people.

“Hello, I’m Damien and this is my wife Ember.” Damien said.

“Selene.” I said.

“What a lovely name.” Ember said and gave me a motherly hug. I heard another loud growl. I looked out the window. The growling just kept going on. I covered my ears when it got louder. When I bent over I cringed and fell to my knees.

“Selene what’s the matter?” Damien said.

“Oh my God! Please make it stop!” I yelled.

“Make what stop?” Rose yelled.

“The pain!” I yelled and then I screamed again.

“Where is the pain?” Damien asked.

“My stomach!” I said and I yelled as another pain went threw my stomach. Rose lifted up my shirt. But they saw nothing but bruises. Another sharp pain went threw and I thrashed at them.

“Restrain her!” Damien yelled. Rose quickly grabbed my legs and lowered me to the floor. And then Ember grabbed my arms and they held me to the floor.

“What’s going on?” Rose yelled as I tried to move. My back arched. And I screamed again.

“I think she’s feeling pain from Jack’s body.” Damien said.

“Has that ever happened before?” Ember asked.

“Not that I know of.” he said. I kept feeling my back arching and then my head turning. I felt my neck crack. But then the pain just stopped.

“Is the pain gone?” Damien asked.

“Yes,” I whispered exhausted. Then I felt Rose and Ember take there hands off of me.

“What’s the matter with her eyes?” Rose asked.

“There black.” Ember said.

“What?” I asked and moved. I winced and ignored it.

“That’s interesting.” Damien said. But then we heard the door open. We all looked. Jack was the first one to walk in. I quickly got up ignoring the pain and ran into his arms. I wrapped my arms around his neck and his around my waist. He held me close and I held him close.

“What happened?” Damien asked.

“Lucifer came.” Cameron said.

“I thought he was dead.” Damien said.

“Well apparently not.” Cody said.

Jack loosened his arms around my waist and I loosened mine against his neck.

“Are you ok?” I asked him.

“Don’t worry about me. I’m indestructible.” he said and we laughed. I then felt my cell phone vibrate. I looked at the caller ID and it was Guy.

“Hello?” I whispered into the phone.

“Hello, sweetie. How come you weren’t in school? I came to pick you up earlier and you weren’t there.”

“I, uhh, had things to do.” I said. I looked around and everyone’s eyes were on me.

“Just remember when your dad gets home twice as hard.” I didn’t say anything I just hung up the phone.

I heard Jack growl.

“I have to leave.” I whispered.

“I don’t want you going back there.” Jack said.

“I have to!” I said.

“What’s going on?” Ember asked.

“Nothing,” I said. “You promised.” I then said to jack.

“I’m not going to let them kill you.” he said.

“God! Why are you so complicated!? It’s nothing ok!”

“It’s defiantly something.” he said.

“I guess I was wrong when I said I could trust you.” I said. He had a pained expression on his face. “I need to leave.” I said.

“No! Not until we know what’s going on!” Ember said.

“It’s nothing! Why can’t you believe me?” I said.

“Her dad and his friend hit her.” Jack said.

“You promised!” I yelled and then ran out. I ran out on there driveway. When I finally got to the road I slowed down. But I heard a car pull up behind me. I turned around and it was Guy.

“You little shit!” he yelled and came over and punched me. I fell to the ground. He kicked me all over my body. I didn’t scream once. But then he kicked me one more time and I fell into a ditch, the ditch had a little creak in it so I lay in the water. I heard him get into his car and drive away. I laid there pain all over my body. I couldn’t even scream I just hope someone would find me. And I soon fell into unconsciousness.
