Chapter 4

I woke up the next morning with pain all over my body. I tried to moved but I couldn’t. But I did hear people coming my way. I wanted to yell to tell them where I was. I opened my eyes and I saw Jack and his family walking tword’s me.

“Oh, Selene.” Jack said as he went down the ditch.

I tried to talk but I couldn’t.

“Selene!” he yelled. My eyes opened and then they shut. I couldn’t keep them open. “Hold on were almost there!” he yelled then I felt cold air around me.

“Someone help! Please someone!” Jack yelled. I heard people running around and I was laid on something. I tried to open my eyes to see Jack but I couldn’t. I couldn’t see anything but blurred stuff. But finally I fell into unconsciousness.

I woke up which felt like two days later, from little pain. I opened my eyes and everything was blurred. I blinked and everything was blurred.

“Selene?” I heard someone whisper.

“Who’s there?” I asked.

“It’s me, Jack.” he said.

“Jack? Where are you. I can’t see you.” I said.

“Selene I’m right in front of you.” he said. I put my hand out in front of me and I felt his shirt. I smiled.

“I can’t see anything.” I said.

“What?” he asked.

“Everything is blurred.” I whispered.

“Nurse!” he yelled and I heard someone walk into the room.

“What’s the matter?” she asked.

“She can’t see anything. Is she blind?” he asked.

“Well have to test her eyes in a few hours.” she said and then paused. “Can you see anything?” she asked me.

“Just blurred figures.” I said. And squinted my eyes. It didn’t get any better. “Shit,” I muttered.

“I guess, we’ll run tests later then. I’ll see you then.” she said and then she walked out.

“Jack?” I ask.

“Yes?” he asked.

“What happened the other day between us?” I asked him.

“We got into a fight because I told my family what happened.” he said. I was about to say something but then two figures walked into the room.

“Stop move away!” they yelled to Jack.

“What no!” I screamed. “He didn’t do anything!” I said.

“Hands above your head!” they yelled. I could see he was moving his arms above is head.

“Jack! No!” I yelled.

“Everything will be ok, Selene. I promise.” he said.

“Hands behind your back.” he said I then saw someone walk over to me.

“Who’s there?” I asked.

“Its me sweetie.” my dad said. I felt the color leave my face. I heard Jack grunt.

“Why are you here?” the officer asked Jack.

“I came here because I found Selene in a ditch from being beaten by this beast.” Jack said. I could tell that he was staring at my dad.

“He’s a liar. He beat my daughter and then threw her in the ditch! Now he’s acting like it never happened!” my dad yelled.

“What? No! he saved me. I would have been dead if it wasn’t for him.” I said.

“Go along with it, or I’ll kill you.” my dad muttered into my ear. I felt the color leave my face.

“Is that what happened?” the officer asked me.

“No,” I whispered the tears were coming over. “He threw me in the ditch.” I said, and then I got off the bed. I put my hands out in front of me. I saw Jack’s figure. I quickly wrapped my arms around his neck and clung to him. I could tell that he wanted to break the hand cuffs. “He made me do it. I don’t want to die.” I said only loud enough for him to hear it. “I love you.” I said and then I was pulled off him.

“Have fun in jail!” my dad said as they walked out of the room.

“I hate you!” I screamed to my dad and felt my way back to my bed. I sat on it.

“Hate me? I saved your sorry ass.” he said.

“Guy beat me and you know it!” I said.

“Who cares. No one is going to believe him or you!” he said. Then I heard the nurse come in.

“Your eyes are needed for testing,” she said. I quickly got off the bed and walked to her. And with that she led me to another room.
