"It's not serious, he's actually one of the lucky ones, since his right ankle wasn't as severely injured as the left one, the right ankle will take two weeks to heal, the left one, will take longer, about six weeks," Doctor Simon explained.
"He'll have to stay out of school for about two weeks, until his right ankle is healed, then he can use crutches and go to school," he said.
"Can he be home by today?" My mom asked.
"Yes, just make sure he gets plenty of rest and he shouldn't have any interruptions from his friends while he is healing," he added.
My mom nodded showing she understood, but I didn't agree.
"Wait, so I can't call Lizzie?" I asked in disbelief.
"Who's Lizzie," asked Doctor Simon. "His girlfriend," my mom answered for me.
"I would think it's best if you don't," he explained to me. "This is ridiculous, I didn't ask for this to happen to me, and I didn't think it would result to me not talking to Lizzie," I argued.
"Honey the doctor said its best, it doesn't matter anyway because you are not allowed to speak or see anybody including Lizzie because of your punishment," she said.
"Punishment, I didn't do anything," I said.
"Yes you did, you didn't think you'd get away that easily," she said. "I can't believe you would do that, I have to call Lizzie everyday, and you are not going to stop me," I said.
"Doctor, can you excuse us please," said my mom turning to the doctor.
"Of course," he answered and left us. I looked at my mom angrily testing her to go on.
"Jake don't make a big scene about this, the doctor thought it would be best if nobody-," but I cut her off.
"Wait right there, so I cant call or see any of my friends including Lizzie just because I got hurt on the ramp in the park," I said trying to understand.
"Yes, and because you decided to do this stunt, your grounded," she said simply.
"I understand not seeing my other friends, but ma, Lizzie, I'm calling her as soon as we get home," I said.
"Another thing, your cell phone is being taken away," she added holding out her hand. I couldn't believe she was doing this. Taking away my phone was pushing it a bit.
I took my cell phone out of my pocket and handed it to her. She smiled. "I'm glad you are taking this seriously, I don't want to upset you sweetie, I just think-."
"It's best, I know," I said.
"Honey you sprained both your ankles, I don't think you want Lizzie worrying over you," she said.
"I can't even tell her what happened?" I asked. "If she calls, I'll tell her you can't talk, she's a smart girl, she'll figure out that you need some time alone," she said.
"Ma, you're taking this way too far," I said. "Are you ready to go, your wheel chair is outside," said Doctor Simon peeking his head through the door.
"Alright," said my mom. I knew that whatever I was going to say didn't matter, because she had already made up her mind on everything.
*************************************
I've been in bed for almost a week now without talking to Lizzie. I have officially gone insane. My moms been brining me the school work I've been missing this past week.
I couldn't take this anymore, it was a stupid stunt. My friend George had done it so I thought I could. We were in the park and we were near the skating ramps. We all had our skateboards so we thought we should try some tricks.
I being the idiot I am saw George do it, so I thought I should try it too. I mean if George could do it, so could I. But I was wrong. I fell straight down instead of skating down.
And now here I was, with two sprained ankles confined to my bed until I was healed. I can't really get anywhere around the house since I cant walk. So I've been living in my room this past week.
I've tried reasoning with my mom about talking to Lizzie, but she just wouldn't budge. She said that I could call her next week when I'm "more healed." This is bullshit if you ask me.
But I have agreed with her terms. Now the only thing left to do, is figure out what I was going to do today? But before I could even think, I heard the doorbell ring.
I wondered who it could be. I listened closely as my mom answered the door. "Hello Mrs. Commings," I heard a sweet voice ask.
I could have recognized that voice anywhere, it was Lizzie...
