I looked around at all my friends, some glaring at me, some with their mouths gaping wide open out of surprise. I clutched a black hat with a red and gold emblem on it in my hand. My dad looked at me with eyes of surprise, shock, and almost betrayal. My mother was glaring at me in disgust. Andy was the only one who showed my sympathy, she picked up Peter, who showed me nothing other than the joy of seeing my face and curiosity. He was still too young to understand. Thats when He walked out.

"What's going-what the fuck?!" His stare was the most painful.

"WAIT! I can explain." I cried, tears threatening to burst from my eyes. I blinked a few times to keep them back. Some people rolled their eyes. Others scoffed indignantly. Still others gave me looks where I could see their trust in me breaking in their eyes.

"Then fucking explain!" He shouted. Anger. Pain. Betrayal.

"I'm sorry." I whispered. I was wearing one high heel, the other clutched in my hand along with Owen's old TShirt. I had a party dress on, and just beneath the hemline, you could see a pair of basketball shorts peaking through. My sneakers were two feet away, lying discarded. They saw me pull my hat off. Let my hair down. They caught me in the middle of changing. Changing my clothes, my personality, my life. This surprise party had a little too much surprise, and not enough party. I took a deep breath to being to explain, where to start, where to start... I was screwed.
