Where was I? I looked around a few times trying to remember if I have been here, but I recalled nothing. There was something eerie to this it felt familiar. It was afternoon but no one was here except me. I was standing in front of a big iron rod gate. The iron rod’s had something engraved on them it looked like a language but it sure wasn’t English. There was a small lock but it was open. I couldn’t decide if I should go or not. I debated for a while and finally ended up opening the gate. It creaked like any old rusty gate would.My eyes popped wide when I saw a big manor in front of me. It was beautiful, “Is this heaven?” I thought to myself it sure looked like it. The Manor was about 3 stories high, with a load of windows. On the side of the manner was what looked like a big tower which was taller than the Manor. At the bottom of the tower was a small door. Who would want to enter such a big tower anyway, especially a person with height fear like me. I took a step forward I could here my footsteps so clearly. It was sure hot out here the sun was aiming right for my face. The trees had dry leaves rustling all over the place. The place just looked so dry and old, like I was watching some old film. Suddenly my attention was caught by the alarming bell that hung in the tower. It was so loud, for some reason the wind picked up a pace flying all the leaves in my face, the bell was going to burst my brain so I covered my ears. The voice’s started to fade, and the sound of the bell converted to the sound of my alarm. I woke up with a pillow covering my ears, and my forehead sweating like crazy. It seemed like everything was real but it was a dream.

I was back in my boring old life. Well I hope today isn’t boring, I was going to turn 17 the day I have been waiting for. I sat up on my side with my elbow to support myself. “Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you!”, I heard the song playing from somewhere but where? I think it was coming under my pillow. I threw my pillow on the floor and saw a card. The card was the size of hand and on the front it had a girl in a car with her hands out dangling a key. The key looked like a button and when you pressed it, the “Birthday” song played. I opened the card and on the left side it had a big L and beside the L it said Live, Long, Life. On the right side of the card, it was the girl again and beside it someone wrote “We Love You”. It was in big red, and bold letters. I closed the card and on the back it said “To, Amy from her lovely aunty and Uncle”. I had a smile and also tears falling from my eyes. I wish my parents were here to see this, I finally grew up their little kid has grown up but nope no one was their to realize that. I have spent every birthday with my aunt and uncle but never missed my parents so much. I mean why should I care they just left me when I was 7 year, they didn’t need me. I remember it so clearly.

That night I fell asleep, after my mom and dad came in my bedroom and told me that I was growing up and one day I would become a big girl. They said they loved me no matter what and that they would always be there for me. They kissed my goodnight as my mom started to turn away I asked her why was she crying and my all my dad said to her was “Elaine please don’t do this to her”, I looked at him confused to what he was talking about. She brushed her hands on my face, and left the room closing the door behind her. And I just thought it was some small problem that they were going through and I slept. The next morning I woke up and walked downstairs and found my Aunt and Uncle instead of my parents. Since that day I just ignored anything about my parents.

I cleared my head and thought to myself“Amy you are not a small little girl you are an adult so let’s get on with the day and today is your birthday you should be happy”, I was on my feet in seconds. I waited for myself to catch up, because I always felt dizzy after sleep. Huh? This was weird I didn’t feel dizzy. Everything was normal the floor wasn’t rotating and the walls were definitely not closing up on me. Maybe it’s another puberty trick? I ran to the bathroom and took a shower, got dress in skinny jeans and a black and white striped tank top. I strapped a stud belt around my waist and went back the bathroom to straighten my hair. After playing with my hair, giving it a little puffiness and letting my bangs in front of my eyes, I stood on the weight machine. I looked down, “Damn! I’m still skinny” I mumbled to myself. I was always skinny for some reason I hated this about me. I mean I had a body but still was skinny. I wanted to be a little fat. I mean everyone was.The part I loved most about me were my eyes, they never ceased to amaze me and other people. They were ice blue, with a little bit a brown peaking in, from my pupil sides. I stopped admiring myself and grabbed a pair of hand warmers and slipped it on, and they fitted perfectly against my smooth, pale white skin. I grabbed my book back, of course I still had to go to school. I was on my way downstairs, when I almost tripped on the stairs. Somehow I managed get a hold of the staircase handle bar, and I also caught my book bag in the other hand. Puberty? Again I am guessing.

I headed downstairs and greeted my aunt and Uncle, “Good morning Sara, Good morning John”,

“Good morning Hon”, they both greeted me in unison. It’s like they could read each other’s mind.

“I might come home little late tonight”, I informed them. I and some of my friends were going to celebrate on the boardwalk.

“Alright, you are not on curfew anymore, oh and when you come home we have to talk”, She said.

Uh oh, did she find out about the party we threw? When she wasn’t home. I hope not, this ought to be ugly.

“Ok, Well I should leave unless I want to be late to school”, I said heading for the door.

I closed the door behind me and headed for the bus stop, I rode the bus to school as usual. Why didn’t Sara and John gift me a car? At school I told every one to hold the presents until we were at the boardwalk. School passed by fast, some of my teachers handed me a greeting card. At the end of the day I grabbed my stuff and waited out at the parking lot. Since, Hayden of my friends said he was going to drive us to the boardwalk. Everyone was here. We all hoped in the car, me in between Katie, and Alex both my besties, but Alex was more special we both had a crush on each other in 2nd grade but we promised to remain friends. At the boardwalk we ate dinner and everyone handed me a present. Alex gave me a necklace, that had an “A” and “A” attached to it. As in Alex, and Amy this was just a friendly locket. Hayden handed me a rainbow belt, I had told him before how I always wanted one. Katie gave me a CD of my favorite band, All Time Low, and Ashley gave me concert tickets to a local band. I loved all my presents. I told my good byes and Hayden dropped me home.

It was pretty dark outside when I got home, I usually had a pretty hard time finding my way around in dark but not today. Something is wrong with me today, I mean I had gone through every puberty cycle. So what was all this?

I entered the house and closed the door.

“Yep”, I replied taking a seat next to her on the couch.

“So how was your day?” she asked with a smile on her face.

“Pretty darn good, how about you?”, I asked.

“Great, so what did you get for your birthday?”, she asked.

“Wow, that’s cool. Hey I know you are wondering why john and I didn’t get you a car or anything”, she said

“No it’s ok”, I replied knowing that’s not what I wanted to say.

“Honey have you been encountering with unusual things? Dreams?” she asked.

“Yes actually how did you know?”, I asked her. What now she could read my mind?

“Well honey, I don’t know how to explain this to you. You know the night when your parents left? It’s because they had to go somewhere. Somewhere where you are going to go”, she explained.

“What do you mean, I AM going to go?”, I asked her confused.

“Well when Elaine and your father Andrew left. They went to a different dimension, a dimension where they are king and queen, where they are vampires. That makes you a vampire princess.”, she told me, waiting for my reaction on this.

“Are you ok? Sara? Did john get you on drugs? We are not in lala land Sara. Mom and Dad left because they didn’t want me”, I told her with a laugh, did she know how much pain she was causing me right now? I am not a 5 year old kid who you can tell a story about princess and kings and queens to make me believe in something.

“Amy listen to ME! If I am not making sense, then you explain how everything today has been so perfect? Did you feel dizzy today when you woke up like you always do?” she asked me,

“No”, was all I could say, is this real?

“Did you trip and fall outside in the dark?” she asked, again I replied “no”.

“Honey, it’s all falling in place. Everyone who is destined to be a vampire has a dream on their 16th birthday, in the dream there is a big iron gate if you open and enter the gate you will become a vampire, if you don’t you will stay human and I am guessing you entered didn’t you?”, she started blabbering.

I thought back to the dream and how could she know about it? “Yes I did”, I told her.

“Ok then Amy please realize that you are a vampire, and you can’t undo it” she told me.

I debated myself couple of times but I gave into what she was saying, but where am I going?

“They are in the other dimension where you soon will be going. You have to leave tonight when full moon comes out. There you will be trained as a vampire, it will be just like the human world, except you will have supernatural powers.” She explained this to me again.

“Wait… does this mean I will get to see mom and dad? But I will be leaving you guys I don’t want to that”, tears started doing their waterworks in my eyes.

“Yes honey what you are saying is correct, that’s why you must get ready you need to hurry up and go pack you will be leaving in one hour. This is why we didn’t buy you anything because we realized you will be leaving”, she said.

I embraced her in a tight hug, as tears made their way down my face. I could here her sob. What was I going to do I was never going to see Katie and Alex ever again.

“Can I meet Katie and Alex one more time before I leave?”, I asked her.

“Sure”, she said and I could feel her pain.

I hurried to my room , and called Alex and Katie I told them to meet me at our backyard, even though Katie said she could only come for 10 minutes.

I peaked out my window and saw Katie and Alex, I ran downstairs and out the back door to our backyard, surprisingly it only took me about 2 seconds to this, must be the powers kicking in.

Our back yard was huge and it looked like a farm the grass was now grown to thigh length. I ran and caught up with Katie and Alex.

“Hey you guys” I told them as I hugged them. Tears were making their way on my face again.

“What’s wrong Amy”, Alex said he was worried I could tell by his tone.

I let go of them and came up with the best excuse of my absence.

I looked at Alex, his dark black hair was covering half of his face. He was playing around with the rings on his lip. It was amazing how his hazel eyes shone against his white skin even in the dark. He was wearing a turquoise and white checkered button up shirt. And black jeans. Katie was exact opposite of me I had black hair she had blue eyes, she had brown I had pale skin, she had tan. She looked like she was wearing her PJ’s her white camisole and her bunny pajama. Her hair was tied in a pony tail.

I sat down beside the tree we were standing and so did they.

“You guys I have to move I am leaving”, I told them.

“What? For how long?”, Katie asked me while Alex sat there silent.

“Forever”, I told them Katie was finding it hard to find the words,

“But why? When?”, Katie had so many questions

“My parents called and told me that they wanted me to live with them, and I am leaving tonight”, I answered her.

Alex finally looked up when I said the word parents. Did he know? Because his face showed that he knew what I was talking about, but how could he? He’s not even 16 his birthday is 3 months after mine which is September.

“I don’t know what to tell you , it looks like you made up your mind well all I can say is goodbye”, Katie said as she started to cry and pulled me in a hug.

“Amy I have to go, or my mom will but please make sure you call me and tell how you are, and call before you leave”, she asked and I nodded.

She hugged me one more time and left. It was only me and Alex now. Alex who was still as stone sitting, and taking it all in. I could see his eyes shimmer.

“Alex are you mad?”, I asked him I didn’t know what I should say to him.

“Amy I know exactly where you are going and why you are going, I know you will be transformed into a vampire tonight, and you are going to your parents in the other dimension”, he said this so easily but how can he know this.

“Don’t worry my mom told me this on my 15th birthday, so I would be prepared. You know why I didn’t have dad because he is in the other dimension, my mom is just waiting for me to turn 16 and we will be on out way there. My dad works in the other dimension as a doctor. He cures the defected vampires, and he’s the one who send out the dreams, to next vampire to be.” He explained this as he shifted beside me. His voice sounded cracked like he was going to cry any moment.

“So does this mean, you will be there in three months?”, I asked him

“I am going to miss you terribly”, I said as I cradled against him, and surprisingly he flung his arms around me. We haven’t been like this since the 2nd grade when we confessed our feelings to each other. I could hear his heart beat, it was faster then a normal human’s heart. I figured he was scared of letting me go.

“I know I will too”, he said. Looking down taking my face in his hand.

“Amy please tell me the truth do you still love me?”, he asked with tears rolling down his cheek.

I just nodded and whispered “yes, I always have and I always will”.

He pulled his head closer to mine, my breathe was already short, I swung my arm around his neck and before I knew our lips were touching. It was just amazing, I could feel butterflies in my stomach and an electric feeling to where his hand was on my back. I traced his lip with my tongue and before parting I played around with his lip ring.

“I have always wanted to do that with your lip rings”, I said with a smile.

He just let out a laugh, while wiping my tears. I rested my head on his chest, and he just held on to me tightly

“I am sorry I couldn’t keep our promise”, he said

“Me too, but I am also glad”, I said smiling.

“ I have to go pack, but knowing you will be there in three months makes me feel better about this whole moving away thing, promise me you will be there” I said to Alex as I stood up.

“I will and I won’t break this promise, call me, email me, anything that can let me know you are there safe”, he said swallowing after every little word, he stood up in front of me holding my hands. I looked down because I was crying and didn’t want to cause him any pain.

He came a little closer to me and kissed me one more time on the lips, this time a little longer but our hands stayed together the whole time. We both pulled back at the same time, he kissed my forehead,

And said “goodbye until September 1, you will always be in my heart no matter what, I love you ” he said,

Knowing that he will be there on September the first

I replied “I love you too, see you on September 1”,

Our hands slowly drifted apart, as I head toward the back door of our house, and he went towards the street. I couldn’t help but smile at the moment we just spent together.

ALEX P.O.V

I ran my fingers through my hair, i knew there was a smile on my face, I was glad what happened today even though she was leaving I was glad that I was part of her life, and that we were going to be together after all. I can’t wait till September 1.
