Chapter 1.
"Were moving again", I thought to my self as I was packing up. Whenever someone gets suspicious, Mother informs me that we're moving! I never have any Friends of any time! I wonder where now!
Mother: Jamie! Hurry!
I didn’t dare mouth back.
Mother: You better be out here in 2 min.
I quick grabbed my things and hurried out to the car. As mother drove us away I looked back at out little home. It wasn’t much. It had two small bedrooms, 1 bathroom and 1 mini kitchen. I wouldn’t miss it. We had only lived there for 2 months. Not to mention being in the Hospital for part of it.
After about an hour we were there. The new house was a bit bigger but even more crapish looking.
Mother: you'll walk to school as always. Its a couple blocks away. You start Monday. You may go walk around if you like.
I went down a couple of streets and the houses got HUGE! I saw a couple of boys with blond hair. With my head Down I tried to walk by UN noticed. It didn’t work.
Boy: hey
Jamie: hi
Boy2: Hey I’m Adam and that’s Kyle
Kyle: hi
Jamie: um I’m Jamie
Adam: What are you doing
Jamie: um... nothing
Kyle: Cool wana come over!
Jamie: um...I better not.
Adam: Oh come on!
Jamie: I’m sorry I better go.
Adam: o ok well come by again tomorrow! Or anytime Else! We live right over there.
Jamie: K Um Bye
I ran Home and went to my room to write in my diary about, well, the town and the fact that maybe, I might make a friend
Right as I sat Down Mother came is and starter Screaming:
Mother: Where Have You Been!
Jamie: I....i...uh...
Mother: Did I tell you to talk! Where’s diner!
With that she slapped me to the floor and began kicking me. All I could do was try to protect my Face.
Chapter 2.
Once she was done she said shed make her self something. I went to the Bathroom to she what happened this time.
Mother was careful about hitting my face and arms where everyone saw. This time I had many Burses and a bump on the back of my head where I hit the floor. I didn’t even ask about food for me because I was lucky to eat three meals a week.
That night I went to bed. It was hard to sleep because I had such a huge headache.
The next morning I woke up early and began to make breakfast. Mother was sitting in her chair starting her morning smoke. By the time I was done with all my chores it was 11:30. I decided to sneak out of the house and try to find the two boys that were out yesterday.
Adams P.O.V.
Adams: Hey Kyle wana come out and shoot some hoops?
Kyle: Not really. I’m too tired.
Adam: K. Ill be out there if you change your mine!
Kyle: That won’t happen.
Adam walked outside and saw Jamie on the other side of the street. He walked over.
Adam: Hey!
Jamie: um....hi
Adam: oh what happened to your head?
Jamie: oh...um....I...I just fell.
Adam: ouch.
Jamie: yah.
Adam: so want to go get some Ice Cream?
Jamie: I don’t have any money.
Adam: oh don’t worry about it. It’s on me.
Jamie s P.O.V
I felt comfortable around Adam. Well at least more comfortable then I do to most people.
Adam: What Flavor?
Jamie: oh...um...Chocolate?
Adam: K. I'll have that to!
They ate there ice cream and then walked around the beach and talked. Well at least Adam talked.
Adam: Wow it’s already 5:30!
Jamie: no way! I got to go start dinner!
Adam: um...ok I’ll walk you.
Jamie: No! You can’t!
Adam: what?!!?!
Jamie: um...my ...my mother is just really strict about that.
Adam: (smiles) O ok see y later then?
Jamie: yah bye.
Chapter 3.
Adam: wait! Meet me tomorrow. Right here! K?
Jamie: ok! See yah then! Bye
Adam: Bye!
Jamie ran home as fast as she could but she had a feeling the she was in for it.
Adams P.O.V
She seemed really nice. Just a little jumpish. No matter what I did I couldn’t get her to totally relax. She only spoke when asked a question and she had a huge bump on the side of her head. It didn’t make sence. That’s why I made plans to see her tomorrow.
Jamie's P.O.V
Mother was passed out on the couch. That meant no dinner tonight. Maybe though she hadn’t noticed she was gone. I snuck into my room and began writing in my journal.
When I was done "mother" came through the door.
Mother: Where the Hell have you been! Where’s supper! What’s wrong with you! Have you been out with that boy again?
Jamie: i...i...
Wait how did mother know about Adam
Mother you thought I wouldn’t notice didn’t you! Do you think I’m that stupid! Do you!
This wasn’t going to be a daily kick. This was more. Mother grabbed a knife and threw it at her! It missed. Mother kicked and kicked and grabbed another knife. She threw it at Jamie. It hit her hand and Jamie Passed out. Mother just walked away like nothing ever happened
Jamie’s awoke in a hospital bed. Her hand was in a cast.
Then a doctor came in and started talking about what they had done and how she needed to be more Careful when cutting veggies.
Apparently she had gotten 11 stitches in her hand.
Then the doctor gave her some pain medicine that she knew her mother wouldn’t let her have and instructed her on how to use it.
Her hand hurt too much and to was hard to concentrate. At least her mother would be kind to her for a day. Maybe she'd even let her go see Adam.
She really loved how he talked on about himself and never forced her to say anything. She always felt ok around him.
Then Jamie had an idea. It was a thought that scared her a little but might work.
She thought about telling Adam her Secret.
Maybe. But not yet.
Chapter 4
I mean what if he didn't believe her. Or what if he did believe her and told an adult and that adult didn’t believe them. Then surely mother would find out and punish her severely. No Not Yet. She needed to be sure.
Doctor: Do you have any questions?
This knocked her back into the real world Quick.
Jamie: um....no
Doctor: OK then so how did this happen? Where you cutting the veggies in your hand or something.
I didn’t know what to say
Jamie: um.....
Doctor: Because it doesn’t look like it.
Jamie: I....um...
Doctor: Jamie is that what really happened?
Jamie: I...Um...yes.
After that the doctor left. There was nothing else he could do.
Then I went home with her. I sat as quietly as I could while mother started scolding me on how I need to be more careful. She was believing her own story.
When we were home she told me to go do whatever and be back by 7:00 for super. Apparently she was making it.
I knew where I was going.
Adam P.O.V.
Jamie didn’t come all morning. I gave up and went home. Maybe she forgot and went there instead, I thought, but when I asked Kyle he said no one had come. I really wanted to talk with her some more. I wanted to get her to talk to me. Something she really never did. In the middle of my thoughts the doorbell rang. I went to answer it.
Adam: HI Jamie. Oh My God what happened to your hand?
She didn’t answer right away. It was almost like she had to think of a reason. But why.
Jamies P.O.V
I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t want to sound stupid and use my mothers excuse but what else was there? Only the truth. I was stuck.
Right then his phone rang. I thought I was free but he didn’t answer it.
Jamie: Can I speak to you alone?
Chapter 5
Adam P.O.V
Jamie: Can I Speak to you alone?
I had no clue what was coming next, until she said it.
Jamie: ok but you have to promise not to tell.
Adam: tell what?
Jamie: what I’m about to say!
Adam: what?
Jamie: Just promise.
Adam: um ok I promise
Jamie: cross your heart?
Adam: Cross my heart hope to die poke a nearly in my eye. Ya ya ya
Jamie: um...ok....my...my mother through a knife at me. But you can’t tell.
I was shocked.
Jamie’s P.O.V
I told him
he was very surprised. All he did was stand there and look at me.
I hoped he believed me.
Adam: r...really?
I nodded.
Adam: wow why didn’t you say anything?
Jamie: I was afraid.
Adam: Of what?
Chapter 6
Jamie: of you not believing me!
Adam: but I do believe you!
Jamie: I know! But DONT TELL!
Adam: k
Jamie: Really don’t because if you do....
Adam P.O.V
she didn’t need to finish for me to know what as coming next. I knew.
Kyle had a really good friend when he was little. His name was Sam. Sam and Kyle had a secret that Kyle only told me after. Sam’s father was abusing him. One Christmas Sam got a bike from his great aunt in
But then one Thursday when Sam and Kyle were hanging out, they got the bike out. They ran over a nail and popped the tire in the driveway. Sam’s dad found out. Kyle even tried to convince sam’s father that it was all his fault and Sam was just trying it stop him. It didn’t work. The look on sam’s face was one Kyle would never forget as Sam was dragged by his father inside.
The next morning Sam was dead. The newspaper said that Sam had fallen out a window in his sleep, "sleepwalking". Kyle new what really happened. All because of a popped tire. It made Adam shiver.
Jamie: so you promise?
Adam: Yes. I promise.
Jamie: thanks
Adam: yah
Jamie: so wana get some ice cream?
Adam: um....sure?
Jamie: come on. Let’s go walk.
Wow she changed moods fast! It’s like it never even happened to her.
But it still did. She new that.
Adam: um....ok?
Jamie’s P.O.V
I tried to change the subject really fast so he wouldn’t ask questions. I knew he would though. Id give him time to but not yet. I wanted to enjoy today. I wanted to have fun. I didn’t want to worried about mother finding out. I didn’t even want to think it.
Chapter 7
Jamie: soooo.....
Adam: can I ask you something:
Jamie: um....yah?
Adam: Can I Tell Kyle?
Jamie: Kyle?
Adam: Yah. Kyle. My bro.
Jamie: um...I...
Adam: OK then can you tell Kyle?
Jamie: I....I don’t know.
Adam: he won’t tell
Jamie: I sure he wouldn’t but I can’t trust him
Adam: You Will.
Jamie: ok I will but not yet. But why do you want him to know so bad?
Adam: Because.......
And Adam retold the story about when Kyle was younger and with his friend. And Jamie did think she may be able to trust him but it was too hard. She never told anyone before know and she wasn’t sure if she should be. That story scared her. Espcally if her mother was drunk again. Though she normally was.
Jamie: ok.....but I have to trust him fully.
Adam: do you trust me fully?
Jamie: yes.
Adam: Good. Don’t be scared of her. Ill Protect you.
Jamie: Thanks
Though Jamie know he meant what he said he knew he couldn’t fully protect her from mother.
No one could.
But is was a nice thought.
And It Gave Her Hope!
Jamie :( smiling) I know you will!
Adam: (smiles)
Chapter 8
After a while it was time for Jamie go home.
Adam: ok so ill see you soon?
Jamie: yes!
Adam: with Kyle?
Jamie: how about tomorrow at 6:30?
Adam: a.m.?
Jamie: yah. If I get up at 5 I can get my chorus done and meet you two here before she wakes up.
Adam: ok sounds good.
Jamie: ok.
And then Jamie left. But Adam followed.
Adam P.O.V
I had to follow her. She wouldn’t tell me where she lived. And what if she needed me?
Her house was small. The outside was painted Blue and the pint was peeling.
There was a small dented up car parked in somewhat of a dirt driveway.
Outside was her mother. They started talking but I couldn’t hear her. I’m her mothers hand was a bottle of booze. There were at least four more bottles of it around her. After that I left. I didn’t need to see and more. I went home and talked to Kyle.
Adam: hey.
Kyle: hi.
Adam: you were right.
Kyle turned away from the TV. To face Dylan.
Kyle: about what?
Adam: Jamie. She is being abused.
Chapter 9
Kyle: she told you?
Adam: ya. I saw her today with a cast around her wrist. Her mother through a knife at her.
Kyle stood up and walked up to Adam who was half shivering from retelling it.
Kyle: really?
Adam: yes. She wants to see me again at 6:30 a.m. tomorrow. Come with me please.
Kyle: is it ok with her that you told me this
Adam: she wanted to tell you. I told her about you so please don’t say I told you.
Kyle: I won’t. I'll come
Adam: ok
Chapter 10
Jamie’s P.O.V
I woke up and started my chors as quietly as I could. I didn’t want to wake "her". Then to buy more time I set out a couple extra bottles and cigs. It was risky but I wanted the time.
It wasn’t the smartest thing to do.
Then as Quietly as I could I snuck out. I was a little behind but he’d understand, now. I went to their yard and there they were waiting. Adam came up to me and Kyle followed but stayed back. That’s what I was expecting any way though.
Adam: hey. You’re late!
Jamie: i’m...i’m sorry.
Adam: oh no that’s fine i’m just kidding.
Adam: anyway this is Kyle again.
Kyle: hi. Again
Jamie: (smiles) hey, again!
Kyle’s P.O.V
I was a little nervous. And then I saw her hand. It shocked me how her mother could just do that.
After a while we got to talking
Jamie had some horrible stories but Adam tried to comfort her. Some were just scary. We kept telling her that she could always come here if she needed help. But I new what it was like through my friend. It was sick. People like that.
Adams P.O.V.
after a while all she could do was cry. It was good for her because she had never done any of this before. All Kyle really did was nod at her. He was thinking and had something going through his head. But before long Jamie had to go. She didn’t want to get caught and I didn’t want her to either.
Jamie’s P.O.V
Jamie: I need to go now. I’m sorry.
Adam: are you sure?
Jamie: yah I have to.
Kyle: ok just remember you can always come to us.
Jamie: thanks! I know. (Even though they can’t stop her. No one can)
Jamie: bye!
Kyle & Adam: bye
when Jamie Got home and her mother was waiting...
Chapter 11
mother: where have you been!!
Jamie: I...I...I....um
mother pulled out the silver cutting knife and threw it at her.
It missed.
Mother began kicking and kicking and then went to get the knife. Jamie ran. She knew where she was going to go.
Chapter 12
Adam & Kyle’s P.O.V
Dad: hey guys we need to go get something at my office I want you to come
Adam: NOW!?
Kyle: Come on! Were old enough to stay alone for 5 minutes
Dad: I need to show you guys something. Anna will watch the door and phone and let you know if someone calls. Now let’s go.
Kyle & Adam: fine
Chapter 13
Jamie’s P.O.V
I ran as fast as I could. I didn’t want her to see where I was heading. Shed get me back if she did.
I knew she would follow me
finally I arrived at Kyle and Adam door. I rang the doorbell
but some girl in her 20ies answered.
Girl: hello!
Jamie: hi um I need to speak with Adam or Kyle.
Girl: i’m sorry they aren’t here right now.
I could here mother’s old car coming
Jamie: please please can I come in please!
Mother: hello Jamie. Its time to go. I’m sorry if my Daughter caused you and trouble.
Girl: of no she’s fine.
Mother: ok Jamie lets go.
I tried to mouth help to the girl but she wouldn’t look at me. And I was scared to death of mother when we would get home.
With that we went home. But as we were leaving a car was about to pull in. the window rolled down and there was Kyle I mouthed help and he nodded. But then I remembered…. I never told them where I live.
Chapter 14
Adams P.O.V
Kyle: Adam! That’s Jamie.
Adam: no way
Kyle: we got to help her.
Adam: ok
I told her id be there and I wasn’t.
Kyle: wait. I don’t know where she lives!
Adam: don’t worry I followed her once. I think I remember the way.
Kyle: ok come on let’s go!
They got out or the car and ran as fast as they could. They got there just in time to see Jamie’s mother kick her to the ground.
Adam turned and looked at Kyle who was shaking. He was remembering.
Adam: you ok
Kyle: yah but what do we do?
They watched as her mother picked up and old and rusty fire poker. She raised it up and striked Jamie.
Jamie’s mother: HOW DARE YOU!
And that was all Kyle could take.
Kyle: STOP!
Chapter 15
Aliy’s P.O.V
mother hit me I’m the back of my neck. I fell forward and couldn’t breathe. Mother went too far.
But then as I hit the ground I heard a familiar voice shout “stop”. I desperately looked up and saw a blurry Kyle. After that I began to pass out.
Dylan’s P.O.V
She Smacked Jamie in the back of the neck and Jamie just laid there. I wanted to run to her but Kyle beat me to it. But Jamie’s mother came up to Kyle and hit him to in the face.
Kyle fell clutching the left side of his face next to his eye. He began crying so desperately that he couldn’t see . Jamie was struggling to sit and her mother was coming at Kyle.
I had to do something.
Chapter 16
Jamie’s P.O.V
I laid there until I felt confident I wouldn’t pass out. I heard Kyle screaming he couldn’t see. Mother must have got him. I had to do something. It was all because of me.
If only I didn’t tell. Now Kyle could be permently injured. I couldn’t just lay here.
It was all my fault.
I began to get up and that’s when I saw Kyle. He was holding his face. And there was blood. Then I saw Adam.
Adam was keeping his promise. I didn’t want him to. Not at all.
Mother turned and saw him just before he got to her. She wasn’t expecting this. Now she was desperate. She just wanted to get away. For all she knew there could be more.
Mother began whacking him in the knee. There was no where for him to go. He fell over but mother kept whacking him.
Then she ran to the car and drove away. I stood up and looked at Adam who was shouting from the pain in his knee. Kyle was now quieter. I went over to him.
Jamie: are...are you ok?
Kyle: yah I think so....but are you?
I felt the back of my neck there was blood but I was fine.
Jamie: yah I’m good
Kyle: (half smiled) good. How’s Adam
Jamie: I don’t know. I’m going to go help him.... my...my...mot...she kept hitting him in the knee to get away. He could be hurt.
Kyle: I wana come can you help me up?
Jamie: yah here.
I got him up and helped him walk over his vision was still a little blurry and he had a cut next to his eye.
Adam still was crying out.
Jamie: Adam are you ok….
Kyle pulled up his pant leg his face looked worried but before I could look at it... Jamie! Call 911
Chapter 17
Jamie’s P.O.V
I didn’t question him as I ran into the house and dialed the digits
Voice: Hello, What is your emergency?
Jamie: hi...um...i need help...my...my mother...and well Adam, Adam he...his knee...and...She. She might be back...i...we...we need an ambulance!
All I was doing was mumbling.
Voice: where are you?
I gave my address and ran back out. Kyle was getting Adam to calm down a bit but a could tell that he was in a ton of pain. Kyle had rolled
But then I heard the worst sound I could possible hear. …
Chapter 18
Me and just Kyle just looked at each other,
and then Adam. We had to hide!
Kyle: we have to do something! NOW!
Jamie: there’s a strip of trees around the house be wed have to hurry.
Kyle: Let’s do it.
But by then it was to late. Mother pulled up.
She went into the house and grabbed the knife, then the fire poker. And then she called to me from her car.
Mother: Jamie come here.
Jamie: no.
Mother: (looking worried) tell...tell them you all fell.
And with that she drove off.
Kyle :( smiling) trying to hide the evidence!
I smiled back but my smile was weak. All that I could think about as we waited was about how I got Adam involved in my problems and he paid the price.
Adam P.O.V
I couldn’t protect her. I wasn’t there... But I promised
Chapter 20
Jamie’s P.O.V
Finally an ambulance came along with two cop cars.
Two medics got Adam on a stretcher and put him in the ambulance while two more looked at me and Kyle.
They left with Adam and Kyle and I went to the hospital in one of the cops cars while the other one went to notify Adam and Kyle’s father.
While in the car we were both asked numerous questions.
Some were imposable to answer anyway
where we got to the hospital they split me and Kyle and had me undress to a bra and underwear.
There where looking at me all over and asked more questions like how did this happen or what did she do to you here.
it was very uncomfortable.
Finally after what felt like forever i was able to go see Kyle.
Kyle informed me that he was also fine for what fine was at this point.
Adam would stay the night though. and would walk out tomorrow...
but on crunches.
I did feel bad. it was all my fault. I should of just keep my mouth shut.
after awhile a nurse cam out to talk to us
nurse: ok so you father should be here I’m a moment but until then what exactly did happen.
Jamie: umm.he..he fell. On rocks
Kyle: Jamie!
Jamie: I’m sorry ok!
and i ran and locked myself I’m the bathroom.
I Sat there and cried.
Why..? she wasn’t even here! How can she control me when she’s not even here!
Chapter 21
Jamie’s P.O.V
pretty soon a heard knocking on the door.
Kyle: Jamie? look I’m sorry. I know its hard for you.
Jamie: no. I let her do this to me! its all my fault.
I came out to face him.
Jamie: I’m really sorry!
and then i hugged him and cried.
Kyle: And that’s what Adam thinks.
I stopped
Jamie: what?
I wiped the tears out of my eyes and off my face.
Kyle: Adam thinks its all his fault.
Jamie: no. no its not! Why?
Kyle: go talk to him yourself.
I let Kyle show me what room he was in.he was now changed into a hospital gown and was laying in bed.
Jamie: hey.
Adam: hi. I’m...I’m sorry.
Jamie: why! it wasn’t your fault! I dragged you into it. I’m sorry
Adam: but I promised.
Jamie: no no you did keep your promise! I don’t live in hell anymore! that’s all I’ve ever wanted was to leave that house. i leaned over the bed rail and kissed him softly on the check. Then Kyle ran in.
chapter 22
Kyle: Jamie my dad wants to talk to you.
Jamie: ok. bye Adam
Kyle: he wants to know if you would like to stay with us for a while.
Jamie: YES!
Kyle: (laughing) ok.
Kyle’s P.O.V
my dad drove us home and after making sure we were both ok left to be with Adam.
I didn’t blame him.
Besides, I wanted to spend time with Jamie
Kyle: well its 10:30 p.m.
Jamie: wow
Kyle: yah so do you want something to eat
Jamie: ok!
we both had a sandwich and Soda
then we found a place to sleep.
Jamie said she didn’t want to sleep in a room by herself so she had my bed and i slept on the futon.
but in the middle of the night Jamie woke me up shouting something
Chapter 23
Jamie’s P.O.V
Jamie: Kyle! Kyle! Are you ok!
Kyle: what?
Jamie: you were shouting something.
Kyle: huh.
Jamie: (louder) you were shouting something
Kyle: oh...what though
Jamie: like you couldn’t see and that u did it. I don’t know I’m to tired.
Kyle: oh
Jamie: can you remember anything?
Kyle: not really.
I knew what he was dreaming. he was dreaming about today.
i could tell. I listened for about 3 minutes before waking him up.
I knew.
Kyle: wow its 6:30.
Jamie: yah.
Kyle: so do you wana go back to sleep or go and get some breakfast?
Jamie: breakfast.
Kyle: me to. I’m starving. and hospital food stinks.
Jamie: I know!
Kyle: ha ha think about Adam..
I actually laughed. it felt good because i hadn’t for so long
Jamie: so when’s he coming back?
Kyle: I don’t know probably noon.
Jamie: Good
Kyle: ill be right back. I got to go to the bathroom.
Jamie: ok.
I got up and walked around the room. Nothing too interesting . then I heard kyle coming and I sat back down.
Kyle: hey Jamie
Jamie: Uh.. Yea?
Kyle: um my dad just called. He and Adam should be here shortly.
Jamie: um...ok.
Kyle: so wana see the whole house.
Jamie: are you sure we wont get lost!
Kyle: ha ha no ill bring my compose
Jamie: ok then i will.
he brought me around and we ended in his room.
His room was full of picture, video games, comics, and way more electronics.
There were pictures of him and Adam..
Then on his wall was one picture by itself in a light brown frame. it was of a small boy with shaggy unkept brown hair. his close were ripped and so dirty. the picture was ripped down the middle but had apparently been taped.
Kyle: That’s him.
Jamie: oh.
thank god for Adam walking in and saying hey because there was to much tension. it was acward
chapter 24
Adam: hey
like Kyle said he was on crunches but his eyes were gleaming.
Adam: missed you! (smiles)
Jamie: Hey! Missed you too (smiles)
Adam: wow i’m hungry. the food there sucked.
Kyle: yah it did. that’s why we left.
Adam: luckeys. Well I’m getting food.
Adam left and I didn’t know what to do. It was so weird. Kyle started to follow him so I did to.
Kyle: ha we never did get are breakfast.
Jamie: I guess not.
Adam: Jamie you'll need some clothes.
Jamie: but I don’t have any money. I could um go and get some.
Kyle: but what if she’s there. I'll buy them don’t worry.
Jamie: are you sure.
Kyle: yah.
Jamie: Kay.
Kyle: i’m going to go clean up and get dressed.
Adam: have fun!
Kyle: ( laughing) i will.
Adam: so....
Jamie: soooo....
Adam. follow me.
Jamie: um...ok....where.
Adam: my room. there’s a surprise for you.
Jamie: me?
Adam: yah. come-on
i followed him um stairs and into his room.
there was nothing different.
Adam: ok now find it…. your cold.
i spent 10 minutes trying until i gave up and he showed me where to look.
there was a huge box. i started to open it and there was another box.
i opened that box and there was another one.
it went on and on like that for about 12 boxes until i was down to one small box.
i opened it and...
Chapter 24
Jamie: oh my god! Adam ! its so beautiful!
Adam: i thought so to!
Jamie: wow! that must
have cost a fourtion!
Just then Kyle walked in
Kyle: Guys, dads leaving so if we want a ride to the mall now’s the time.
Adam: ok lets go.
i set it down on the table and hurried after Adam and Kyle
We drove around for about 40 minutes un till we, well Adam and Kyle, picked a mall to go to and get there.
Kyle: soooo where to first.
Adam: Jamie..
Jamie: um....i don’t know any of these places.
well Adam and kyle showed me like a billon stores and we shopped.
I got three pairs of jeans. 7 shorts, 3 caprees, 2 beauties’, 3 skirts, and a bunch of shirts. Also i got two swim suites and goggles because Adam promised he’d teach me how to swim an soon as he could.
Kyle: well I’m hungry we still didnt have breakfest.
Jamie: ha your right. Me to
Adam: is that all you talk about! Food!
Kyle: well I’m going to go have a smoothie!
Adam: well..ha i do like smoothies!
Jamie: what’s a smoothie?
Kyle: you don’t know what a smoothie is?!!?
Adam: come on you’ll see
Chapter 25
Well I followed them over to a smallish place called Smoothies inc.
Home of 100 wonderful flavors.
Jamie: wow that’s a lot!
Adam: yup!
So. we went and had smoothies. they were really good!
and we went back to their house. Adam had a phone call to take when we got home so Kyle took me to his room.
Kyle: did he give it to you yet.
Jamie: yah.
Kyle: can i see it?
Jamie: Sure! its in his room.
Kyle: ok ill come with you.
Jamie: ok.
we went up to his room and them i walked up to the table.
when i looked at the table my face must have looked worried or something
Kyle: what?
Jamie: its gone!!
Chapter 26
Kyle: no way.
Jamie: but i set it right here! I know i did.
Kyle: Bubba.
Jamie: bubbles?
Kyle: no bubba our dog. He must have gotten it.
Jamie: I’m so sorry.
Kyle: oh don’t worry about it.
Jamie: Are you sure! that must have cost a fourtion.
Kyle: hey it wasn’t my money.
Adam: (walking into the room) what’s gone.
Jamie: I’m sorry. I set it right here because i didn’t want to lose it and Kyle thinks bubbles got it.
Kyle: bubba.
Adam: oh that’s ok.
Jamie: um..is it okay if i have a shower?
Adam: oh, yah here ill show you where the stuff is.
I went and took a long hot shower and dried my hair.
but when i came out Adam was sitting there waiting. he looked up at me.
he looked sad and worried.
Jamie: what?
Adam: they found her. She is denying everything. she wants you back.
Chapter 27
Jamie: what?!!?!?
Adam nodded at me.
Jamie: w-what am i going to do.
Adam: you are going to bring her to court. You cant let her keep doing this.
Jamie : how! I cant afford a layer!
Adam: like i said. don’t worry. ill protect you. I'll get you one.
Jamie: Adam no. I cant let you keep giving me all this. I don’t deserve it.
Adam: but you do.
Jamie: How?.
Adam: Look at all you’ve been through. All your life. I cant imagine what it was like.
Jamie: are you sure?
Adam: yes. besides, we have proof, what dose she have?.
Jamie: ok. Your right
(a few days later)
Mr. Marzen: nice to see you again Jamie.
that’s my lawyer, Mr. Marzen he’s really nice. Although i feel i don’t deserve him.
Jamie: hi.
Mr. Marzen: well lets go over our questions before we leave.
he’s talking about court. its in an hour and I’m really scared. Mother will hate me. I don’t want to go back.
I’m also happy because Adam and Kyle will be there to right next to me. If they weren’t there I don’t think i could do it.
We went over our Questions and got into the car.
Chapter 28
When we finally made it in a saw mother for the first time in about two weeks.
She had her hair pulled back in a tight bun and she was wearing a blue flowery dress.
Her make-up was smeared and she was crying. It was all just a little show. But it scared me.
It scared me because what if it worked. what if she got me back. What would she do to me.
Adam must have noticed something was up with me because he hobbled over to me.
rubbed my back and whispered "its ok dont worried, I'll protect you" over and over.
It did make me feel a little better though.
After the opening statements Mother was the first one Mr. Marzen called up.
Mr. Marzen: for recorded please state your full name, address and how you know Jamie.
Mother: Sarah Lee Miller,
Mr. Marzen: Mrs. Miller, Have you ever physically hurt Jamie in anyway?
Mother: no.
Mr. Marzen: then how did she get the bruises around her belly and the cuts on her arm?
Mother: Jamie has always been a clumsy girl, always falling and hurting herself.
Mr. Marzen: then why dose Jamie claim you’ve abused her through the years, thrown knifes at her, and so on.
Mother: you know 13 year girls, shell do anything to get attention.
at that mother gave me the coldest stair she’s ever giving me. It made me shiver.
Mr. Marzen: and Adam and Kyle? What about them. They claim to have seen the same thing and that you caused both of them to be hospitalized. Adam was over night.
it takes mother a minute to think of and answer and i can tell she’s worried.
Mother: I-I’ve never seen them in my life.
Mr. Marzen: that’s all I have.
when the judge asked if the defendant for a cross-examine Mr. marzen walked back to his seat.
I couldn’t read his face at all. It was just blank. When mother’s lawyer was done Mr. Marzen asked Kyle to the stand.
Once Kyle had stated his name address and relation to me Mr. Marzen Began the Questing.
I was literally shaking in my seat. Adam sat beside me and held my hand. He really was trying to help calm me down but was failing miserably.
Chapter 29
Mr. Marzen: so Kyle, when was the first time you met Jamie Miller?
Kyle: About two weeks ago, outside my house.
Mr. Marzen: and did you notice anything specific about her.
Kyle: she was quite and timid. Also there were some bruising around her arms.
Mr. Marzen: ok. what about Sarah. Have you ever seen her.
Kyle: yes I did.
Mr. Marzen: when?
Kyle: they same night I was entered into the hospital.
Kyle sounded so brave and fearless up there but I could tell he was scared and worried, especially when Mr. Marzen asked...
Mr. Marzen: When happened that day.
So Kyle had to retell exactly what happened that night, or at least what he could remember.
By the time he was done, he was literally crying and we waited a while before starting the cross examine witch the defendant didn’t do anyway.
One by one people were called up to speak. There was Adam and Kyle’s dad, the doctor, mothers friends and so on until Mr. Marzen called up Adam
Mr. Marzen: Your Name.
Adam: Adam Thriscot
Mr. Marzen: So Adam, I understand that you were also admitted into the hospital that day and spent the night there?
Adam: That is correct.
Mr. Marzen Handed some papers to the judge which were hospital records and went on with the questioning.
Kyle, who sat beside me, was really red in the face, and breathing slightly harder.
Jamie : Kyle Are you ok?
Kyle: oh um yah I’m fine.
Jamie: are you sure
Kyle: yah I’m just going to get some water.
He got up and walked to the door while I turned around to listen. But just as I heard a thud like something hitting the floor.
Before a had a chance to turn around Adam Shouted.
Adam: Kyle
