I walk to the street and take a right on 5th and main. After walking a couple of miles down the road, I’ve reached my destination. It was a college, New York University, to be precise. It was a nice, cool day in the middle of October. The bell rings and the students start to pile out of the school. Unfortunately, one of these suckers is going to die today. I look out on the crowd until I spot my target. She’s a tall girl with thick black hair that reached her shoulders. She wore all black (shirt, jeans, jacket, even make-up) with purple in her hair and on her flatteringly tight shirt. She was the most beautiful person that I have ever seen. She was stunning and independent in her own way. And she’s the one that’s going to die. I didn’t know what to do. For the first time in my everlasting, immortal life, I didn’t think that I could take away a life. I was standing there, staring, when a truck starts speeding by. The girl is starting to cross the street, unaware of the truck. I’m freaking out; I didn’t know what to do. I started running towards her, trying to get her attention. It doesn’t work. I then I do something that I should never, ever, do in my line of work. I push her out of the way and save her life. The truck rams me and I fly back and smash into a tree. The tree snaps in half as the truck stops. The girl come running up to me.
“Oh my god, are you okay?” she starts looking me over, trying to find any wounds, not that she would find any, as I’m immune to all kinds of mortal death causes. She stumped when she finds nothing. I stand and she gets up as well. She asks again if I’m okay again. Instead of answering, I ask her a question of my own.
“What’s your name?” I ask. She looks dumbfounded, but replies.
“Raven Williamson, but are you okay and who are you?” she asks back. I look into her deep, electric blue eyes and say:
“I’m fine and my names’ Dante. But, to let you know, we never met here. I was never here.” And with that, I ran off and disappeared behind a tall building. I take my scythe and make a portal to my personal realm and jump in. during the entire trip, I wonder, what have I done?
