7. Ghost Stories

After the scary movie (Bruce Willis beating up defenseless robots), "Lights out."

They went to the snooze room.

"Let's tell ghost stories." said Beth flicking on a flashlight. She handed the flashlight to Meg.

Meg told a story of a creepy man who would lure children into his car with promises of candy. The children would never be seen again. One day angry parents caught him and burned him alive. The creep was so angry that his soul would never rest in peace. "If you say his name three times, then he jumps out at you with his long nails and ugly face."

"You do know that we've seen this movie, right?" said Grace sarcastically.

"Let's hear you do better." Meg handed the flashlight to Grace.

Grace told a familiar tale of "a psycho who escaped from an insane asylum and got a weapon."

Sounds like mom thought Cameron.

"But instead of haunting a summer camp wearing a mask and hacking up naked teen girls, he ran for office and became President Evil. Even today, he is hacking the budgets of Democrats."

Beth gave a mock scream. She was more politically active than the others and thought it hilarious that a recent stupid president and a current smart president weren't all that different.

Grace handed the flashlight to Beth.

Beth told the most boring story about a "ghost that haunted a basement like this one. And you know what? It would sneak up behind people and go boo!" Beth pressed an air horn she had hidden and caused almost everyone to jump.

Beth handed the flashlight to Cameron because she was the only one who hadn't jumped.

Cameron told the story of a girl named Allison trying to escape from a prison ship. "There are humans and other animals in cages. She finds a way out onto the open deck. It is night. She jumps overboard into the cold water. Ensnared in a net, she is brought back, branded with a blow torch and relentlessly asked where the leader of the humans is so that they can kill him and stick his head on a pike." But Allison lies about where the leader is and her clone lifts her in the air by her throat like Darth Vader and chokes her.

The others thought that the way Cameron told the story that Cameron was the Allison character but that couldn't be because Allison died in the (a bit too believable) story.

Cameron handed the flashlight to Lisa.

Lisa told a story that would give Stephen King nightmares.

"When a clown puts on the greasepaint and the red, it is no different than when a woman puts on makeup. A new face. A new personality. That personality is like a multiple personality with a life of its own. Its own brain waves, its own voice, its own agenda. It doesn't care what you want. No, it wants to secretly destroy you without you knowing. It lies hidden, waiting. And you bring it out when you try to look beautiful and sexy."

Lisa looked around. The illumination coming up from the flashlight in the dark room gave her the look of a clown, a harlequin. The others braced themselves.

"A clown is trying to look funny in order to make people laugh. The two looks are not different at all. Goodnight everybody." Lisa said with a sexy smile, the last thing you saw as she turned off the flashlight.

"Oh for Pete's sake."

"That wasn't scary at all."

"You weren't even trying."

Lisa slept like a log. The others lay wide awake in the dark for a long, long time. Even Cameron, who had her own issues with dual personality, could not go into sleep mode.

Do gynoids dream of electric sheep?

Not tonight.
