Guess who came? If you guessed Jack…then you’re right.

He changed a lot and I think I shouldn’t of worried so much. Because he actually looks a lot different. He came with a man in a suit. We sat down at the table to eat dinner. He talked about his experience in jail and how it changed his life. The only reason why he got out early was because how well behaved he was. Since they saw how his attitude changed, they decided to release him early. He even told my mom and I how sorry he was for the things he did to us.

I can’t believe how great my life is getting. I’ve never been so happy in my whole entire life. I can’t wait to tell Carlos.

By the way, the man in the suit is a friend of Jack’s. He’s gonna stay with us for a few days because his house is being renovated.

Sorry, that I didn’t write for the past two days. I guess I was having so much fun that I forgot to write.

On Tuesday, Jack took us out to eat at a very expensive restaurant. It was my first time trying out sushi. And it was delicious. Jack’s friend was with us too. And he ordered three plates of cocktail shrimp. He let me share with him. I’m so stuffed, I’ve never eaten so much. But it was fun…especially when Jack dropped ketchup on his white t-shirt. We stared at him for a second and then we all burst out laughing. These rich white family behind us kept giving us odd looks.

On Wednesday, we went to Coney Island in Brooklyn. I got on the Ferris wheel with my mom and it was the first time we had long conversation. It’s been a while since we communicated. When my dad died, she didn’t know how to deal with it. So, I guess she used that as an excuse to be lazy. Anyways, I also told my mom about Carlos and she said she was happy that I made a friend.

Today in school, I finally confessed to Carlos why I was crying and I told him about Jack. About how he used to be. He told me he was glad that he changed and also that he was happy to see me smile all the time. I can’t wait to go to church with him tomorrow. He’s like the best friend I never had.

Jack’s friend his leaving today. His house was fixed…so he gets to go home.

Today I’m going to church with Carlos. I’m really nervous because I haven’t gone to church since I was a baby. Carlos has been a really good friend to me. I’m wearing a plain black t-shirt and jeans I have to go right now. Jack is driving me to Carlos’s house. Later.

Ok, so it started off with Carlos introducing me to everyone and everyone welcoming me. Then we got into a circle and prayed. Since, I don’t know how to pray I kept my mouth shut. Then they sang a song called, “God’s not dead.”

After that song they sang another song called, “Joy like a river.”

Then some guy started talking about this fun raising thing that they are planning to do in December so they can raise money for kids in Africa because they can’t afford it. Next, they talked about the theme for Sunday school, which is being on “God’s Team.”

Then some tall dude prayed for the word and then read four verses in the bible. Then they sang another song. But, I didn’t understand it because it was in Spanish.

After singing, some guy was talking about how God dramatically changed his life. He said that when he was fifteen he used to be a troublemaker and used to hang out with the wrong crowd. One day he was arrested for murder because one of his friends dared him to steal some kids sneakers. So, when the kid didn’t want to give his sneakers up he shot him. They charged him as an adult so he was sent to jail for 12 years. While in jail he met an inmate who was a Christian. They became friends. His friend everyday would talk to him about God. So everyday he would learn more and more about him. One day his friend asked him if he would like to accept Jesus as his personal savior and he said yes. Although, he regrets doing what he did he said he knows that God had forgiven him.

I wonder if God would forgive Jack for what he’s done to us. And I wonder if he would forgive me for judging Jack.

Jack took mom out to breakfast. He asked if I wanted to go but I old him I was gonna ask Carlos if he’d like to come with me to McDonalds. Jack gave me 20 dollars and told me not to spend it all at once. Since Carlos never been to McDonalds I thought it would be a good idea to ask him if he’d like to go with me. I hope he isn’t annoyed. I’m gonna ask him anyways.

I knocked on the door and a tall man with glasses opened it.

“Yes?” he asked, politely. Shyly, I ask, “Um, hi. Is Carlos here?”

“Yes he is. Would you like to enter?” he asked. I quickly shake my head no. “N-no. It’s ok. I’ll wait out here.”

He nods and goes inside his house. A few minutes later Carlos comes out.

“Hey, what’s up?” he asked.

“The sky?” I say pointing up. “No I’m just kidding. I just wanted to see if you’d like to come with me to McDonalds for breakfast.”

“I’m sorry,” he says. “I forgot to tell you. I’m a diabetic.”

“Oh,” I say quickly, ashamed of my question.

“But, if you want you can have breakfast with us,” he suggests. “You can meet my parents.”

“Ok,” I shrug and follow him inside. I really don’t like meeting people because I get too shy. I followed Carlos into the living room where his parents were. They both stood up and shook my hand. Carlos’s mother said, “Hello, its finally nice to meet you.”

“Carlos has told us a lot about you. God bless you,” said Carlos’s father. Very nice people.

“Oh, I didn’t sneeze,” I said quickly. Carlos chuckled and said, “No, she means as in a greeting.”

“Oh, right. God bless you, too.” I said, stupidly. God I sound like an idiot.

After the awkward silence, we sat down at kitchen table and talked. I didn’t need to tell them about myself because Carlos already did. So, I told them how I enjoyed going to church with their son. I even told them that I was planning to go next Friday. When we finished eating breakfast, I thanked them for the food and said that I had to go home. So, Carlos’s mom said I could take the leftovers of spinach omelet. I thanked them again and headed home.

Mom and Jack aren’t back home yet. I wonder what’s taking them so long.
