He bought me some food when we got to the food court and then we found a place to eat. He had boughten us both mc donalds. I couldn't remember the last time I had had mc donalds! We sat there talking for hours until finally I remembered that I had to be back by 4. "Oh shit, what time is it?" I asked as I started to panic.
"Almost 3:30," he said simply as he looked at his watch.
"I really have to go," I said as I stood up to leave.
"Why?" he asked as his eyes got sad and he stood up.
"I have to be home by 4 or my step dad is gonna be really pissed!" I said as I dumped my left over food in the garbage can.
"Can I walk you home?" he asked as he caught up with me and pulled me into a hug from behind.
I giggled a little bit and said, "It's a pretty long walk, so you can walk me 3/4s of the way there!"
"Can't I know where yyou live?" he asked in a sad tone.
"I wouldn't mind, it's just that if my step dad saw me with you he would probably kill me!" I said without thinking. I saw the worried look in his eyes and added, "Don't worry it's just an expression!" I laughed a little bit just to try to sound more convincing, but the truth is that if Jeff has seen me with Adam he probably would have killed me. The worried look in his eyes didn't leave.
"If your sure..." he said hesitantly as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer to him as we walked. I didn't respond.
We walked silently for a while and then finally Adam started to talk again. He started to tell me about how his dad was always at work and he was only in so many sports because he wanted to delay going home to an empty house.
When we were a couple blocks away from my house I stopped. "I don't want to leave you yet," Adam whispered in my ear as he held me close from behind. I blushed a little. "Can you at least come over for dinner tomorrow night?"
"I'll ask my mom if I can..." I replied as I thought about wether or not she would let me go.
"Where should I pick you up?" he asked, automatically assuming that was a yes.
"Um...I'll meet you at the fair grounds," I said as I thought about a safe place to meet him, where Jeff wouldn't see.
"Sounds good! I'll pick you up at around 7," he said as he turned me around to face him. He smiled at me and then leaned in for a kiss. His lips gently touched mine as he kissed me.
I closed my eyes, and even though the kiss only lasted for a second I felt as if I was floating on air the rest of the way home. It had been my first kiss, and I enjoyed it! I wanted another one, and as crazy as this may sound, I already missed Adam!
