You feel so lost and alone,
But you then realize,
That you had people beside you all along.
They never left you.
Through the rough and painful times they were there,
Even if you were hurting too much to see them.
They comforted you,
And tried their best to pick you back up after your worst falls.
The never mocked your failures,
But helped you overcome them.
They helped you fight off your demons,
And kept you safe from the liars,
And the people who wanted to hurt you.

You had felt so long for this person,
But you thought they never noticed you.
Fear kept you from telling them how you really felt,
But you finally trusted them enough to let them know.
When you finally took the first step,
It was hard,
You were afraid of your rejection,
Afraid to hear what they would say about you.
You opened up to them and told them,
And you saw that they felt that way too.
They had been so worried,
But then they said that nothing mattered now,
Because they were with you.
They would be by your side to the end,
And promised you everything.

You fight,
Day and night,
To bring back what is lost.
You are fighting to bring yourself back,
To become what you were.
You keep your fire alive,
And destroy all the demons plotting to put it out.
Soon the light will shine,
The darkness is leaving.
The mask will be broken,
Because the fears have faded.
You no longer have to hide in the shadows.
No longer will your two halves have to fight,
The other has won and there is peace.

But you never knew that you weren’t.
You belonged to the world.
It welcomed you with open arms,
And introduced you to its companions.
You no longer felt lost.
You paid no attention to the haters,
And others wanting to destroy.
Together, you could overcome them,
You could protect the weak and innocent.
You felt stronger,
They would never deceive you,
Nor leave you.
Old fears melted away,
And for once,
You felt at home.
