The price was paid when I took off my mask.
I thought I could trust them,
But I told them too much,
And I paid the price.
The price was high,
And it was hard to pay,
But I did,
Whether it was in blood or pain.
The price was paid,
When I thought I could trust,
When I thought they finally cared.
I just wanted love,
And a friend who would be there,
But I paid the price when no one listened,
And no one heard my plea.
I knew from the beginning that dreams were just illusions,
But I tried to go against what everyone said,
And ignored their advice,
And paid the price.
When I thought someone cared,
And shared my problems,
They mocked me.
When my tears fell,
They did nothing but point and laugh.
They lie to me,
And I believe the deceit.
I paid the price for thinking I needed someone,
Because they only let me down.
And when I fall,
They leave me for dead.
I wanted to be loved,
But I paid the price.
Everyone only cares about themselves,
And I paid the price for thinking they would just ignore their selfish ways for me.
When I pay the price,
I don’t seem learn.
I can’t stop from needing a friend.
I can't stop from wanting to be loved,
If they can.
I keep paying the price,
For thinking I could trust again.
